Diner Reviews
  • "We had a lovely dinner with out family, the service was terrific as was the food. In February I had a birthday celebration at this restaurant, which I, unfortunately forgot to book with Open Table, and there were 14 people, Bel Air Bar and Grill did a terrific job, each and everyone enjoyed their food and the service was excellent, we enjoyed their Wines and brought some of our own, their corkage is a bit high, I think, especially with such a large party they could have had a less expensive corkage, other than that I highly recommend this Restaurant."

  • "We live nearby and go here whenever we want a high quality, highly enjoyable meal, with predictably good food and friendly, attentive service. We often take out-of-town guests here, because we know they are consistent, and the varied menu promises good choices for almost anyone. Most recently, I had a pan seared white fish (yummy), our friend from New Jersey had a pasta with a bolognese sauce which she thoroughly enjoyed, and everyone shared delicious appetizers of fried brie with a sweet compote (apples and pears? it was great with the cheese) and the tuna tartare (always excellent). My husband loves their fried calamari and shrimp. They listen to your tastes, and will switch things around. They also make a great margarita."

  • "The evening, after the hassle of getting there as Sepulveda Blvd was closed down due to construction, was made perfect by a fantastic bottle of wine-Goldeneye Pinot Noir."

  • "Waiting in the car for five minutes for valet starting the evening just great. Than to walk in to the wonderful charming hostess who said nothing for three minutes while she cleaned the menus.......than she spoke!! You are eating up stairs to night. We thought was something okay?? Well the only other couple up there, the wife sleeping on the table and the husband on his cell phone and some kind of construction going on. So were we not good enough to eat downstairs? I had this reservation for over a week???"

  • "There is no reason not to go back soon. The ambience made me feel good as soon as I walked in. The room colors, surfaces and tasteful wall art me feel welcome and comfortable. Service is excellent. I had the artichoke first and I could have easily had another for my main dish. I can still see and taste it. The sole on parchment was a fantastic delight and I am happy that my waiter made the suggestion."

  • "The Bel Air Bar and Grill is easy to miss, lying as it is right next to the 405 on Sepulveda and tucked into an otherwise nondescript office building. But the adage about people beating a path to your door is spot-on in this case. The food is well prepared, and their lunch salads are delicious, especially the lobster cobb with a generous portion of succulent lobster. The bar mixes great martinis and bloody marys."

  • "We thought this would be a great little neighborhood spot for dinner. The location was great and the place was charming enough, but it turned out to be a very pricey dinner for a slightly better-than-average experience. We'll probably grab takeout in the future but not return for full-service dining."

  • "We went solely from Open Table recommendation and were not disappointed. We sat next to the fire and two of the group enjoyed the daily prix fixe choices. Everyone loved their meal, special raves about the salad course. Excellent service, attentive but not intrusive. Definitely worth visiting. A must for locals!!"

  • "I've been to this restaurant many times and the food is good but the staff isn't very well managed. If it wasn't convenient for my friend and I to meet here we would find another place to dine."

  • "Used to really like this place - great dark and cozy ambiance with fireplace, booths etc. Then, during the 405 remodel, they re-did this place, too. Bummer. Now it looks and feels like a Dennys - too light with blond wood floors and walls, booths gone (mostly) for these clunky tables. The back room looks generic American restaurant (not in a good way at all) and front area looks like a pass through. The fireplace can hardly be seen from most of the seats. Although, some of the art on the walls was truly great - I will say that. Food was still good overall (salad and cioppino for me, different salad and rare steak for my SO) but we probably won't be back since that Denny's vibe isn't really my gig."

  • "We frequent BAB&G for dinner and lunch and were curious how the brunch experience would be at one of our favorite local restaurants. We made reservations for brunch on Saturday in the early afternoon. The restaurant was not crowded, however there was not enough staff to handle the small groups that were there. The food was delicious, but took a very long time to be served. Wait staff were not available in a timely manner for drink refills or add-ons once the meal was served. Bread was not on the menu, and the toast that was offered as an alternative was not ok for those having pasta or salad. Overall, brunch was very disappointing. We will return to BAB&G for other meals, but not brunch."

  • "Steaks all round for our party. Perfectly cooked and delicious. This is a reliable restaurant and conveniently close to home so it is often the "go to" restaurant when traffic is not good for elsewhere."

  • "SO GLAD the Bel Air Bar and Grille has reopened following a gorgeous re-model. Everything is first class (but caltrans is doing its best to make it hard to get too ---- but go anyway and support them through the construction. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Over priced. The food was fair, wasn't ever remotely close to justify the price. I felt like we paid for the location. Disappointing."

  • "This was our first visit and we really enjoyed the food and the service. I don't think you can go wrong with any menu item and the gooey chocolate cookie for dessert is a must try. The service was attentive and made for a wonderful overall experience. We were there on a Saturday night and it was not overly busy. The average age of the crowd was about 60."

  • "I have been twice now since they reopened and both were good, salads both times. Need to return to try out dinner and bar scene. But love the remodel but miss the old outdoor dining area."

  • "Delicious food and lovely ambiance. Service was very slow - we did not get our entrees until 1 1/4 hours after we sat down. The ambiance would be greatly improved if they would take steps to sound proof the restaurant. We want to visit with friends when dining - why does that seem to be an outrageous request?"

  • "We love Bel Air Bar & Grill, and have been going for years. This time we introduced a pair of friends, who'd never been, and they loved it too. They had the pear salad, pumpkin ravioli and a whitefish from the night's specials; my husband had ribs (with mountains of French fries he avoided), and I had an amazing branzino special (fish) that came with an excellent lobster risotto - topped with lots of sweet lobster meat. The menu is delightfully broad. The service, as usual, was friendly and efficient."

  • "ambiance is a major change from before. decor is sophisticated and chic but would have liked an outdoor patio. food is ok but quite a bit overpriced. I had a salad with chicken added and it came to $23. it looked very plain when served with no garnish. it tasted fine but NOT for $23. would have paid about $15 elsewhere. don't think I'd run back there."

  • "Been there twice, once for lunch and once for dinner, lunch noise level was fine, dinner noise level was a bit too loud for my liking. Food - Calamari app, simply great, pumpkin ravioli so-so, chicken dry and so- so flavor, Bouillabaisse was good, but a little too spicy. Too much spice hides/dulls the complex marriage of flavors of the seafood and detracts from the dish, Wedge salad good, not quite enough dressing and had to ask for bacon bits. $25 corkage a rip off Waitress Barbara/Adriana Lima beautiful, friendly, attentive, not intrusive, on the whole, she was the highlight of the experience."

  • "I enjoyed the beautiful makeover they did of the restaurant. I was happy that they now serve the bouillabaisse every night now instead of just Fridays as before. However the bouillabaisse was much too spicy than it had ever been before, so I marked it down to Good. The service left a lot to be desired as the waiter was not attentive at all and we had to flag him down in order to get our check."

  • "Four of us from Boston found our way to Bel-Air after a day at the Getty Museum and had a wonderful time. The interior is beautifully lit and decorated with interesting art pieces. We all loved the food, especially the grilled artichokes and the salmon entree. The service was great, staff was friendly yet not invasive. A great evening!"

  • "When people ask me where they should eat, one of my top recommendations is going to be Bel Air Bar and Grill. We had a very enjoyable dinner. The food was delicious, ambiance very nice (they have Hidden Mickeys!), and the service very attentive. My family shared a few appetizers and sides with our meal. Favorites are the tuna tartare and artichoke for appetizers, ahi tuna for dinner (sooo good!), sides of broccolini and spinach & leeks, and a toss-up between the chocolate chunk cookie skillet and the apple pie a la mode. Also found out that there had been an incident that the manager handled without any of the other diners aware that it had happened. He was complimented by two older gentlemen on the way he handled the situation."

  • "Talk about a hidden gem - this was the perfect meeting spot between friends who're on either side of the 405. Delicious food, although on a Saturday I was hoping for some eggy/brunch-like dishes. But we had a great time."

  • "A business associate had told me about this restaurant and when he and I met, it was perfect. What I liked about it was the tasteful atmosphere and delicious food, and it immediately made me think of my friends who live in Culver City, while my wife and I live in the Valley. This would be the perfect "half way point" for us, and it is. The food is fun and delicious, and the ambiance perfect for friends to get together and be able to hear each other talk, while enjoying attentive service. I tried the special, lamb chops served with creamed spinach over garlic mashed potatoes. It was delicious - with the spinach perfectly cooked, not over cooked but retaining a nice chewy texture. The lamb chops were amazing!"

  • "My food, the "Nutburger" was horrid, virtually inedible. My friends' meals were somewhat better. Though they've done a nice remodel all the surfaces are now hard so conversations are amplified and it's much harder to hear one's friends than it was formerly. I won't return given this dynamic. When will restauranteurs realize that diners want to be able to talk with their friends instead of just guzzling their food?"

  • "We enjoy Bel Air Bar and Grille regularly - the food is always good, sometimes outstanding, the service is friendly and well-timed, and there is never any doubt that they will be up to high standards. I always go for their fresh fish, beautifully prepared - my husband likes their ribs. Our friends visiting from New Orleans were very pleased with the bronzino and ribs they ordered."
