This is a super fun place. They have great food and change their menu quite frequently. They also have live music every night so, if you're looking for entertainment during the week this is a great place to go. If you're interested in having a conversation, be sure to request a table away from the stage, otherwise you might end up writing on napkins and sending text messages to your table mates like I did.

The food was good, music great, the portion size for what you paid was just okay nothing special. I had the broiled scallops and only received 7 small medium sized scallops. The other diner order the paella which was good but not a typical style paella with the crispy buttom and top. The food was overall very tasty. We really enjoyed the Pinotage "Fleur du Cap". It is very crowed at 10pm when we had dinner. We were not at the best table. It was near a counter where people who were not dining could stand and drink. I found that very annoying. People standing would bump into you while eating, something to consider during that time of the evening. I plan on returning but will request a table on the floor or near the rail over looking the floor

We went for the music and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the music was over by the time we arrived for our table at 3 on Easter Sunday. Although we enjoyed the decor and the food was fine for what it was, the live music is the real attraction here. And we felt we had really missed a large part of The Beehive experience by missing out on it.

We had a great time, the food was delicious and the Jazz band was excellent, a mix of American and Brazilian Jazz, which is a favorite of mine. I've been there for dinner before, but that experience wasn't as good, it was loud, crowded, and the patrons were too young.

The Beehive was good. I went there for brunch. They don't have a huge menu. I had french toast with cherry compote. It was mediocre. The cherry compote tasted like canned cherry pie filling and the toast seemed a bit greasy. I enjoyed the beignets, though. Also, $5 for a side order of tater tots seems excessive.

We were disappointed to be seated upstairs next to the bar and near the door. This table was open when we arrived 5 minutes ahead of our reservation but we were asked to wait at the bar for 10-15 minutes until our table was ready. After this time was up the hostess waived us to this table next to where we were sitting and still open. The space downstairs looked great close to the live music and away from the busy bar. Upstairs was very loud and difficult to hear the music.

It was great overall and I will go back. It was just tough getting a table online at a decent hour - kept getting 530 pm for a party of 3. We ended up getting a 7 pm saying 4, but using 3. We got seated by one maitre d' after our reservation time. Several minutes later, another maitre d' came over and rudely asked what our reservation name was under. Upon telling her, she walked over to a group of people telling them something and pointing to our table. I don't know exactly what she said to that group of people, but what I felt was that she was trying to blame us for having taken their table or something. I did not like that feeling. We were seated AFTER our reservation time. It wasn't like we were there early and was perhaps sitting in someone else's table that had an earlier reservation but arrived late. Way to go! Blame the customer for table not being ready. They waited 3mins for another table to get setup. Big Deal!

Arrived ten minutes late, and the hostess said she gave away our table. She said the next table is at 8:00, so we explicitly told her, "we'll take it and wait at the bar in the meantime." Bartenders were great. Came back at 8:00, and hostess said she didn't know we wanted the table and didn't save it for us and told us to wait again. Horrible service. She was not apologetic and made no efforts to seat us. We ended up leaving without ever being seated even though we had made reservations in advance and waited patiently for the next table even after hostess' snafu.

We went during Restaurant Week so we limited ourselves to the special menu. The fried clam appetizer was a pleasant surprise. It featured a generous serving of tender, fully-belly clams cooked in an oh-so-light beer batter. Succulent. The entree of choice for my wife and I was the Grilled BBQ Scallop Kabob with lemon and scallion rice pilaf. We were not dissappointed. The texture of the rice was almost like sticky-rice, and the accompanying juices had a nice little kick. For dessert I chose the pineapple upside down cake with coconut ice cream, again a very generous portion, while my wife enjoyed the chocolate New York style cheescake. Service was average, but we weren't in a hurry to leave. All in all, a very satisfying experience

I had been meaning to get to The Beehive for a long time after reading many accounts of the great atmosphere and its appeal for 'older' club-goers. The dinner we had was great, but in this particular case we weren't really there for the music, so I know I didn't get the experience I would have gotten with a different group of people, who were planning on staying later...we did get to hear some of the music (we ate upstairs) before we left and it was outstanding. I look forward to returning in and sitting downstairs on a night I know I can hang out for awhile. I thought the atmosphere/ambience upstairs was nothing special, although pleasant. I'm sure the best Beehive experience involves sitting downstairs and enjoying the live music.

The mood in Beehive was vibrant--where else can you find such sensational live entertainment? I would recommend it for catching drinks at the bar and enjoying an appetizer and the vibe but not for the food. The appetizer were great, flatbread w/ prosciutto and a second dish w/ fried oysters and clams. Dinner however came with two of our three plates cold. Really, there little excuse for the kitchen to not have the timing down for this. After all, it was a Tuesday night and there were open tables. Definitely too pricey for an entree to be cold.

This was my first visit to the Beehive. The entertainment for St. Patrick's Day was outstanding. The bar and wait staff were fun and sufficiently attentive. The food was just mediocre. That was the consensus at my table. We did enjoy the fried clam appetizer, but the entrees did not live up to the hype. If the Beehive wants to compete for foodies in the South End, it will have to improve the quality of its offerings. But if it wants to be part of the bar scene, it is doing a stellar job.

I'm actually contacting The Beehive this week to complain. We were really disappointed in our overall experience. I'm pregnant. We were seated in a tiny, tiny table awkwardly positioned by other tables. My husband has food allergies. He was very clear with the waitress that nothing but cheese and bacon could be on his burger. She didn't listen. It came to him with a special dressing on it. He asked the server to fix it. He came back with just a new job bun and a piece of the bacon pulled off. You could see where the sauce was still in existence and that they just scraped it off. My husband's throat began to close up so we had to pay and leave quickly. It was horrible. More than that went wrong while we were there.

Service was not good...had to ask for milk for coffee three times. Had to ask for splenda. No napkins. Not around for me to ask for ketchup. Slow to bring check. Although cold, the fries were very good...they would have been great if at least warm. The quiche was not good...the cheeses were almost not cooked or just a poor combination and the salad was simply leaves of iceberg. I could see this could be charming location in the evening for a drink and entertainment, but would never recommend for food. Nice entertainment.

We went for brunch last sunday and had the worst waitress. First of all, her greeting was extremely awkward. Then she forgot what I ordered and had to come back. Then she forgot to bring our drinks and the sweetner for the coffee. She was also not very attentive and did not know how to prioritize. The food finally came and I would have to say that it was good, but I have had much better. Then she finally cleared us and brought our check, but never came back to pick it up so she could run our Credit Card. My girlfriend got so frusterated that she had to get up and hand it to her after we sat for 20 minutes. I think our experience would have been much better if it werent for the poor service. This really ruined our experience. We wont be back
