BeehivebuzzbuzzIn town for a girls weekend and we had an amazing time when we came to Beehive for brunch on Sunday morning. Service exceptional, so personable and friendly!! Food was deliciious and mouth watering. Will definitely be coming back for another Beehive experience when in town!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMdinner with jazzThe jazz musicians were so talented and it was a great performance. The food was very good and a bonus to the musicc..6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing BrunchMy husband and I iare locals and go here often for Sunday brunch. We LOVE the French Toast and the Poutine! The Beehive is also our go-to brunch spot when we have out of town visitors. We have never been disappointed :)6/8/2013 12:00:00 AM4 happy dinersBrought friends for 1st time. They loved the atmosphere and the live jazz. Wait staff was fun (so were we) and attentive. Each meal was prepared beautifully, served hot and got raves!
4 happy diners!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMRight next to the Calderwood theateWe didn't know this restaurant was at this location until I found in on Open Table, looking for a restaurant near the Calderwood.
We were delighted with our experience there. Good food, service was very good and we loved the ambiance.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Memorable and EnjoyableBeen here many times. Bottom line, it is fantastic. I have never been disappointed in any way. Yes, it can be costly, but you do get what you pay for at Beehive.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the BeehiveI've been twice for brunch. Hard decision where to sit on a nice day. Patio is great as its right on the sidewalk of Tremont, and inside (downstairs) there is a jazz band. Music is great and not too loud so conversations are possible. Food both times was outstanding. The bohemian breakfast (poached eggs with african red sauce over polenta) with the Moroccan sausage is a must. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Bloody Mary's were delicious.
Went on a saturday night for girls night and the bar scene was very energetic and not too young. (Nice bar for over 30 or 40) Jazz was playing in the dining area. Never disappointed. Will definitely be back6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFANTASTIC!!This was our first time here and it was FANTASTIC.The front of the house was as great as the back-so accommodating.Service was attentive and respectful (took us a long time to order because we were chatting).Food was interesting and flavorful! Loved the funky vibe and the music which was perfect for dinner, not too loud. Cannot wait to go back!!!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMgood music & foodBeehive combines fun music with great food; highly enjoyable.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful brunchWonderful brunch, with great food, pleasant live jazz, chipper service, and lovely atmosphere. Probably not a great choice for families with small kids or big groups, but perfect for a get-together with some friends or brunch for two.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMTop marks all around! We visited Boston for three days and made reservations at the Bee Hive on a friend's recommendation. We were so glad we did! The restaurant is busy every night of the week with locals and tourists enjoying the fantastic live music. The service was absolutely top notch and the food was delicious -- we had the mussels (soaked up all the sauce with the lovely french bread), the duck (perfectly cooked and rich), and the swordfish tacos. Do not be put off by the "taco" reference -- the fish and beans are to die for. The bus boy mentioned the beans have 20+ ingredients in them... so good! I wish we stayed longer in Boston just to eat at the Bee Hive again. Check it out. You won't regret it!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways memorableThis was our third time dining at the Beehive. The atmosphere cannot be beat; wonderful ambiance and very romantic. The staff is always accommodating, outgoing and friendly. We have not tried a dish we didn't think was over the top delicious. All in all, this has become our favorite special place to dine.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAll the jazz and alot moreI was a bit apprehensive bringing the two kids (6,12) to a jazz dinner club scene. But my fears were put to rest immediately. We are in the middle of this fabulously designed Parisian basement and out come the crayons for use on the butcher block paper. The music was a beautiful accompianment to dinner and the food was creative, extremely fresh and very tasty. My wife the gardener said the salad was perfect, my 6 year old loved her briche grilled cheese with a side of snap peas, my 12 year old greedily snapped down the sword fish tacos and pierogies, and I had some of the best Salmon this side of Juneau. The staff was fabulous as well. Great experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMStill the one in the South End!The Beehive never disappoints. The food is well sourced, well prepared and well served, in a hip, jazzy (literally, live jazz almost every night!) and cool spot in the South End. The menu isn't adventurous, but it is interesting and there's something for everyone. We were a group of five on a recent Saturday night, and had scallops (perfect), skirt steak (excellent), a roasted salmon (impeccable), and veggie couscous - perfect. Great time, great buzz, good value. A go to place on a street with some uneven restaurant experiences - and lots of places that aren't as good a value.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGood quality intersting foodWe eat there before the theater often but this meal was better than usual. The service was great. Our request to sit upstairs was honored which is better for us and I had a new scallop dish which was really outstanding.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was just an outstandingIt was just an outstanding evening and the food was so delicious. We were a group of 6 people and enjoied an excellent dinner. We loved the service and also the valet parking.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Jazz Brunch and ServiceOnce again, the go to place for all out of town guests. Great food, service and jazz. A Boston gem that should be on everyone's list.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday Jazz BrunchWe reserved a table for their Sunday jazz brunch and were not disappointed. From the time we arrived, we were greeted with a smiling professional staff. We had great seats facing the stage, but back one level, just perfect. This place is funky (exposed warehouse type building with crystal chandeliers). Food was delicious - I had a cod cake benedict special and my husband had the goat cheese omlette (both servered with frites and salad greens). Bloody Mary's were great and we didn't feel rushed at all. Lydia C. was a delightful waitress and we will return.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place was great!! WhenThis place was great!! When we heard "jazz brunch" we were there! What's funny is that we all had plans to go listen to jazz the night before but unfortunately our old age kicked in and after a long day wandering around Boston, all we wanted to do at night was lay in bed. So what better way to start off Sunday morning with Brunch that included jazz?? The ambiance was great and the noise level was surprisingly more quiet than we all expected. Although not a music venue, any place that features music, usually we all expect to yell over the noise to converse but this was not the case. We sat near the bar, so the band wasn't totally in view. The food was good, the staff is friendly and attentive.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMusic and foodThe food was really ammmmmazing, I´ve been there two weekends in a row. But the live jazz music makes it just perfect. I little bit noisy but it is worth it.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Experience, Exceptional FoodBeehive was a perfect spot for my graduation dinner with family, bur would also be good for a group of friends or to impress a date with a hip find. The atmosphere was fun and cool (definitely different in a good way), the servers were knowledgable and friendly, and the food was phenomenal. Every person in my party said that their meal was perfect. I am eager to return to this restaurant!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat vibeGreat energy, bar, and food. The music enhances the whole experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth ItFrom the Super Perfect Martini to the the fresh oysters to the fantastic roast duck, my meal was perfect. Service was friendly and fun, but more than that efficient and responsive. In Boston, you could easily pay much more to get much less. Everyone in my party of 6 loved their food and raved about it for days.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost.......I reserved a table for two 5 days before and requested a rail or floor table. I ended up on the rail with a banister post pushing into my shoulder. We attempted to adjust the table so that I would not feel this constant push from the post. Personally, that table placement was what ruined the meal and time we had there. It is like that table in the movies that is outside the kitchen door. The food was great and the service was for the most part good, though we had to ask twice for the garnish on one of our martinis as the waiter had forgotten.
I have eaten here 3 times prior, all for brunches and the food was always way above what I expected. It was sad that this table placement was set without consideration for an average size man.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the atmosphere. StaffLove the atmosphere. Staff is friendly and without a doubt know their "stuff" . The music is great and it is just a really fun place with the most awesome food. Have been for both brunch and dinner within same week. Can't wait to go back again!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!Got stuck in traffic and the staff at the Beehive made every effort to accomodate my tardiness. The food was excellent. We had the baby back ribs as an appetizer, the duck as an entree. In addition, we had the swordfish tacos, which were delicious though it was a special for the evening. The service was fine and the band added to a nice ambiance. Overall great experience at the Beehive and everytime i have been it has gotten better.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNiiice Mother's Day Brunch!Although my husband & I arrived on time for our reservation, my son was running a bit late. The hostess was very accomodating & didn't insist that we be seated immediately. My son arrived within 10 minutes. We were seated near (but not too near) the live jazz band and thoroughly enjoyed the food & music, which was low key, traditional (think Ella Fitzgerald) and quite good. Conversation was easily heard but the restaurant was solidly booked. The service was excellent, the food was terrific-great day all around!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great except...I love Beehive! Everything was great about the brunch! One thing I did not like was being rushed to leave. As soon as my husband signed the check, the waiter took it away...it never should be done that way. They always wait for people to leave before picking up the signed receipt. It is not that we were sitting for too long, we just got done with brunch when they got the check and then rushed us by their actions. I understand that mother's day morning is busy but let this mother at least breathe.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBeehive is the bees knees! We went for their Sunday Jazz Brunch, and it was wonderful. The music, the ambience, our service. Highly recommend!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMhappeningthe reservations were exact. we knew it was a happening place before we arrived and expected to be rushed out as soon as we ordered dessert, but honestly, it did not feel that way. the band came on at 10 and they were great. the hostess did a great job and our server knew his stuff. parking is an issue in this area. costs about $22 on a saturday night in the garage directly behind the building, so save yourself some time and just use the valet.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBeehive Jazz BrunchEverything was great and if you like music the Jazz brunch can't be beat. Been once before with my wife for a nice romantic pre-theater dinner and came back this time for a day-before-mothersday family Brunch with the Adolecent kids (I wouldn't recommend it for little kids). Food is creative enough for the Foodies (my wife and I) and Familiar enough for the Kids. Not super cheap but reasonably priced considering the quality of the food, the location, plus the live music.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Jazz, Better Food!Loved the brunch choices--some great menu items that are different, as well as some great old standards. The Jazz was terrific.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe Loved BeehiveMy husband, daughter and I had brunch on a Saturday. This was our first time at Beehive. Service was great, food choices were excellent. Plus the food was outsatnding, and the live jazz made it even that much better. We will definitely return!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLives up to its reputationSaturday jazz brunch at The Beehive was a real treat. You can feel the energy of the place as soon as you walk in. We were seated almost directly in front of the stage which was a fantastic start to our experience. The bloody marys were nothing short of amazing, but the food was the real star. I had eggs benedict with thinly sliced virginia ham (the frites were super tasty, too), while my girflriend had your quiche that she could not stop praising even two days after our meal.
We will 100% be back with friends as this is sure to be a staple for us in years to come.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, Excellent serviceOur waitress (Jaimee) was fantastic. She was energetic, friendly and on top of everything. Good selection of items on the menu and decent wine list. The jazz band playing was great and even with them playing and the restaurant full, we were able to maintain conversation at our table. I've been here a few times and highly recommend it.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLayed back casual ambianceAll though they warn you on phone about two hour table you do not feel rushed.
Apps were great main dishes not so. Tuna was over cooked and not crusted enough. Pork and cheese not at all what expected. Three out of 5 were dissapointed .5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFun Spot To Dine! The Sunday Jazz Brunch was such a unique dining experience! Service was excellent and everyone was very friendly, even acknowledging our anniversary. The food was very good. The band was not obtrusive to dining but lent a gentle ambience to the afternoon. Good job!!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMQuite good food, nice ambiance,Quite good food, nice ambiance, our table was ready. Minor criticisms- waitperson was rude (repeatedly), music at brunch stopped before 3 pm.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVery CoolMy wife found this place while we were visiting Boston. It is in a cute little neighborhood, next door to a local theater. The food was amazing. I got a Moroccan style breakfast: polenta and tomato sauce with a poached egg, pita, and sausage. We loved everything on this plate! My wife got the pulled eggs benedict with shortrib. The meat was pulled and typically this style can come out dry and bland but it was very well done here. The meat was very well seasoned and flavorful, tender, and moist.
Food aside, the ambiance was very cool. There was a live jazz trio playing on stage for most of our meal. The decor was lovely and felt very inviting. I would definitely come back here.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBig gap in music. This was our first visit to the Beehive. I loved the Beehive cocktail !! Great start to our evening at the bar while waiting for our table. We went to the basement bar to listen to the band. Once we were seated at our table with a great view of the band playing, they completed their set. It was about 8:00-8:30pm. The next band was not going to start until 10pm. We were expecting to hear a band while we ate. The special halibut with risotto was great. My husband says the steak was, OK.
We had to pick up our child at the seaport at 10pm, so we did not stay. Not having music during dinner lost some of The Beehives appeal to me. But, I can imagine that it would be a neighborhood favorite late night spot!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGo for the great entertainmentRecently visited Boston for weekend & Beehive listed among our B&B's top 40 restaurants. Website looked cool so made a reservation for 10pm because PM entertainment scheduled for 10p-2a. When we arrived, there was a line out the door of people who wanted to go to the bar (of which there are 2- up and downstairs & seating in both areas too.) Entertainment was phenomenal & that alone made the place worth the trip. Food & drink were adequate but didn't wow (fried clams too fishy, beet soup 1-note, sole ok but not memorable), though my husband's burger was delicious. If you go, get the burger. Our waiter was very helpful & accommodating & went out of his way to fix a gross drink I ordered so I could drink it. I'd go again as I had a great time.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time experienceThis was our first time to the beehive and will defiantly be back again. The atmosphere was unique and the food was amazing. It was great to have live jazz music during dinner5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant, Ecclectic, ExcellentThe Beehive has never disappointed. The cuisine is French-inspired but they have added their own ecclectic twist. The portion are generous, but that does not take away from the quality and uniqueness of each dish. The ambiance in wonderful, dim lighting, heavy velvet drapes, fun paintings, chandeliers, and they have managed to maintain a lot of the original building, which gives it such character. The jazz music (or blues depending on the night) is at just the right volume and truly adds to the atmosphere. The bar is fantastic, great drinks and overall liquor selection. This is a favorite spot for various occasions; brunch, dinner, late drinks and music.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a find!Everything from the moment we entered was amazing! Waitstaff, entertainment, food, ambiance, etc.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMYummyIt was our first time visiting the Beehive and we ate great food, listened to awesome music and had nice company. We will be back again! Our family from far far away loved it as well.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best, most uniqueOne of the best, most unique restaurants in Boston. Excellent food, great atmosphere (with live jazz band), exceptional staff.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA college visitWe brought my college grad there with a couple of her friends for dinner. Everyone had a wonderful time, the service was very personal and fun. We all had drinks which must have been somewhat strong as there is some blur to the rest. We had Calamari, onion soup, entry of short rib grill cheese, which is huge and fabulous, swordfish taco, burgers. We all left happy, full and with leftovers in hand.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMI met a girlfriend at theI met a girlfriend at the restaurant on a Thursday night - this was my first visit to the Beehive - I read the reviews and some were mixed - I found it to be very good all around and would definitely recommend the restaurant. I was early and had a drink at the bar - the bartender was excellent - attentive and friendly and the drink menu is inventive. My cocktail was perfect! We were seated on the balcony overlooking the downstairs so we could hear and see the band but the noise level was not too much to enjoy conversation. Our waitress was friendly and took great care of us - the food very good as well. The bar downstairs was very lively if you are just going for a drink. All around, a great find!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBuzz about the BeehiveToday I went to the Beehive for the second time and it was wonderful! The Shrimp and Grits dish was fabulous. My "Lefthanded Screwdriver" cocktail was strong in a good way :)
I do plan to go back in the future and try dinner next time. The Brunch menu is wonderful and I expect the dinner menu to be just as good.
The food and drinks are worth the price. The live music is always good I think the overall experience was a positive one.I would recommend this place to anyone and my server "Jen" is the best, I had her on both of my visits there.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial OccasionWent there for a special night (anniversary) and we were treated wonderfully by the staff and owner!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
