The Beehive is such a fun place, and we love the food and dine here frequently. Our only complaint is that it is really crowded, and this sometimes makes the staff pushy. We made a reservation, but our table wasn't ready until 45 min after our reservation time, and we weren't treated very well when we inquired as to how long the wait would be. Also, we were seated right next to the door, so it was quite cold.

My girlfriend and I usually go to the Beehive for a nice dinner before a night on the town. The beehive's portions are incredible and we are always delighted by the service and quality of food. Recommendations: the mussels are the biggest, tastiest I have ever had. It's a "must try" appetizer. The entire menu is great but usually I stick with the Steak frites. It's always cooked exactly how I ask and is just enough for a filling meal, but not too much so you feel stuffed.

The food was delicious, music was just right (fun, relaxing, not too loud), service was excellent and meals were ready one after the next. I did feel a little rushed. Perhaps a little balance with a touch of more time between courses. This is one thing I never complain about, so it was very minimum, but there was a feeling of wanting you in, served, and out. Overall this is one of my favorite dinner joints. If you make reservations, I recommend stating that you want downstairs seating in the main dinning room, near the music. On some nights, without the request you put you upstairs, which isn't where the live music is. Enjoy

Love this place but they really need to update their menu. Been going their for years and would love to see some changes. Only change I see is taking away the complimentary little cakes at brunch. So really not a brunch as you just order breakfast off the menu.

We had made reservations for our party of five. The atmosphere is fantastic- You enjoy delicious food while listening to soft, live jazz in the background. It's there but not so loud you can't talk with your party. The eggs Benedict was perfect as was the burger with gorgonzola and bacon- cooked perfectly. And our server was was gracious and accommodating. I recommend this place to all our friends who come into the city.

Everbody from the hostess on was very friendly and made it fun to be there. Our server, Bobby, was exceptional. He was knowledgeable and helpful when ordring. When there was a mistake on my order he took care of it promptly and without any fuss. There wee others helping to serve and clear tables and they obviously have been trained well, asked if I was "still enjoying" rather then saying "Are you still working on that?". My husband's meal, the bohemian special was very good. The fries were differnt but also very tasty. My omelet was ordinary. I gave them 4 stars for ambiance only because it was a jazz brunch and when we first sat down the tro was awesome, then they took a 45 min break.

I was considering a Brunch Cruise around Boston, but had already seen most of during a segway tour we were on the day prior. The live jazz musicians was what caught my eye about this restaurant. But when we got there, it was more than expected. Very friendly staff, and they know what they're serving. The appetizers were nothing like the normal appetizer (try the Mediterranean Platter). Then the main courses....WOW! The quantity and the quality. I would love to go visit this place again.

Came here on a Sunday morning for the jazz brunch with my husband, my sister and her boyfriend for a special occasion. When I made the reservation I requested to be seated so we can see the jazz band, and we were sat right in front of the band! It was a little loud sitting directly in front of them, but we didn't mind since we came for the jazz! The atmosphere is awesome. The service was great, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were delicious. The bloody marys were spicy and strong, exactly what we like. The french toast was heavenly, and the sweet potato chorizo hash melted in your mouth! I would go back in a heart beat.

Best Bloody Mary I have had and the hanger steak and eggs were delish and a great hangover remedy after hitting the Petty concert the night before. We were seated right at our reservation time and the service was quick when we sat but tailed off a bit as it got busier. We had to wait for the check for more then 15 min and the AC in the resturant was not working that well (maybe hotflashes from the hangover.) All in all a great spot for brunh. Well done.

The aesthetic quality of the meal here is substandard. Taste is ok. I was shocked when I ordered the Japanese salad and was served a very sloppy pile of iceberg. Has the chef been to Japan? Food there is all about the beauty and taste. The main courses were just ok. This restaurant seems so 1985. They wouldn't survive in most large metropolitan markets.

Took my wife here and both of us had the braised short ribs after the lamb/cheese appetizer. My wife had the maple bread pudding for dessert and really liked it, I had the mixed berry cobbler that was also very good and quite large. Food was good, ample quantity and the service was great. As mentioned by other diners they do like to turn the tables quickly. We didn't feel rushed but as soon as a plate was consumed it was cleared from the table. They had a young lady singing and the noise level was fine. Not sure how loud it would get with a full band. We will go back.

I've been wanting to come here for quite some time and was disappointed. I've been impressed with their dinner, but Sunday brunch was absolutely disappointing. That is almost what they are known for and I was very surprised. The hostesses were nice, but once we got to our table we were rushed from the second we sat down by Kate, our server. She gave us a few seconds to look at the menu then came back and didn't want to answer any questions for us. Once we place our order took our menus, and I had asked for one back so a guest of mine could order a drink. It was almost like she couldn't be bothered by us. Every request we had was turned down. At the end she dropped our check because "we're setting the tables for dinner". This was at 2 pm.

Two of us went to beehive for dine out boston. We had an earlier reservation so the outdoor seating was great (no heat lamps that we saw). We got the soup and lamb appetizers, I really the lamb and it was a large portion. For entrees were also large portions (steak and short rib) & the short ribs came with great sides. For dessert we got one each of the berry cobbler and bread pudding. The berry cobbler was great and homemade whipped cream. The main drawback was an employee (guessing buser) kept coming to check on us making us feel like we needed to eat faster even though there were many open tables around us (many I mean 3-5 times per course & we were not at all slow eaters- much quicker than those around us). Overall I would recommend it!

My gf and I had a wonderful dinner at the Beehive last week to celebrate her birthday. I'd given them a heads up of my gf's birthday a couple of nights before. When we arrived for our reservation, the hostesses immediately asked whose birthday it was, and warmly wished my gf a HBD. When we were seated - at the 'critic's table' - our server came over and again wished, sincerely, a HBD to my girlfriend. Our server recommended a great bottle of wine that we loved- a Lebanese blend. The manager came over to do our bottle service - again, HBD wishes. He explained we had the best seats too. Food was fantastic- tuna tartare and caprese salad to start, striped bass (just OK) and filet for entrees, bread pudding (with a subtle candle) for dessert.

I understand it was Dine out Boston week but a dinner that should have been an hour and half literally was 3 hours... We waited 30 min to actually speak to our sever at all. Maybe they were under staffed but as someone who wakes up early for work it was such a turn off. Next off I ordered the chilled tomato soup for my app... turns out it was chilled CREAMY tomato soup. I guess it was my fault for not asking because I'm lactose intolerant and since our server was impossible to get a hold of once we did I just wanted to get the ball rolling... Liked the old school band down stairs... If i ever went back it would be for that and a drink... nothing else was really that great or memorable.

Have yet to visit the Beehive and have a bad experience! Didnt love the jazz talent the night we were there but it could have been worse. The food was delicious, braised beef had excellent flavor an was not over done. I'm picky so I do wish they would put more lamb in the lamb and chicken couscous buts it's been solid every time I have ordered it. My maple bread pudding was over done and burnt on the bottom but my friends berry cobbler was tasty! Torrie was an awesome server, very nice and on her game. Overall the staff is excellent and work very well together. I look forward to going again soon, it's def a must hit up for my out of town guests!

It's a cycle: I'm looking for a place to have brunch or dinner with a friend, I get stuck on Beehive because the food is amazing and the ambiance is perfect for a cute night out or a boozy jazz brunch. I get there, wait 15 minutes after my reservation to be seated, wait 45 minutes to get any type of food, and then get shooed out the door by my waitress because they need to turn the table over. Seriously, this place has done EVERYTHING wrong when it comes to service. One time, a friend and I were having dinner and drinks. We had just eaten the last bite of our not so cheap meals, so we asked for one more drink. The waitress literally said no, but you can go to the bar and get one. This place needs a complete overhaul of its service and staff

We took some friends to the BeeHive Saturday night. The weather was great so we sat outside. The hostess was engaging and friendly. We asked about the plant next us. We were just making a passing comment but she got the manager to come over to tell us it was a hibiscus. Waitstaff was attentive in a non-obtrusive was. Our waitress was helpful with suggestions and prompt and efficient. The drinks from the bar were great. After a great meal which included much sharing, we asked if we coul move inside to the bar for dessert. They said that would be fine. Our friend had never been to the BeeHive and they wanted to see. We went in had some drinks, dessert, coffee and digestives. They were equally attentive inside.

Noisy, young, energetic and lots of fun, Beehive also has good though not great food. The waitstaff is friendly but overly pushy to turn the table. Once told that we wanted to relax for a few minutes with our drinks, our waitress did not appear again. After forty minutes we had to flag her down to put in our order. Until then she had stood over us, constantly asking us for our order. The food is good...ribs, special caprese salad, duck, and burger were all good renditions. It's surely good enough to come back. And we will.
