Considering all the assurances required to make a reservation(credit card, confirmation call, seating only when all members arrive,etc..),I expected a very strict, up-tight atmosphere. Beehive is nothing like that! It is a very eclectic, friendly and bustling place. Our server was knowledgeable and patient . Reminded him of our timing( message to the restaurant was overlooked). All was well-drinks delicious, appetizers good until 3 out of 5 dinners arrived - waited for almost 10 mins. for the other main courses. We were baffled! Received apologies, but it changed the good vibe of the experience to just a so-so time. Food was good, abundant and well priced. Menu varied enough to meet all needs. I will go again.

We absolutely loved the brunch experience at The Beehive. The décor of the room is funky and comfortable and the addition of the jazz band playing in the same room made the experience feel festive, but was not overwhelming or too loud. Though this was a relatively small menu, it felt like a big menu with a diversity of choices, many of which were inventive spins on traditional brunch dishes. Anthony, our server, was AMAZING!

From the greeting to the check, I can't say enough good things about brunch at Beehive. We were celebrating our anniversary and having noted on the reservation, we were greeted with Happy Anniversary and even our waitress knew. We were given a great table with a view of the Jazz band. The ambiance is great and while we were two having a romantic meal, there were tables of 8 and 10 around and neither impacted the others experience. The food choices are great....try the coffee cake! and service wonderful! Really wonderful time where the customer is made to feel so appreciated!

Really great/eclectic food, very professional yet funky staff, cool vibe, cool (live) music, unique wine list. Price feels about right, can go for a drink and a snack without breaking the bank, can easily blow $100+/pp if wine and desert are involved. It can get loud (mainly from the people, not the music) - I took my parents there at 8PM on a Saturday and I think it was a bit much.

  • Most horrible experience in Boston

My friends were visiting from Connecticut, and wanted to do something different. Although we had reservations, we were seated near the loud bar, we couldn't hear the music. We did dinner early at 6 pm & it wasn't too crowded. Our server Allen was horrible. It took 20 mns from the time we sat down to when he greeted us & took our drink order. It took another 20 mns for him to come back and get our food, which was served cold. I ordered the lamb & chicken plate, and the lamb consisted of lamb sausages not described in the menu. He spilled my friend's drink all over her and barely apologized. When we spoke to the manager/owner about the service, he gave us a snarky comment and did absolutely nothing. We paid our tab and would never go back.

I have dined at the Beehive many times over the years since it opened. The quality and quantity of the food has declined of late. Not sure if this is due to the change in executive chef or a corporate decision. Will not be dining here in the future.

Took a business college visiting Boston here. It was hip, trendy, and cool. Loved the atmosphere and the live jazz band. Our server was attentive and assisted with the menu given to a food allergy and the kitchen was accommodating. Our dinner was delicious. Highly recommend the Halibut and don't forget to order some frites.

It was my boyfriend's birthday and I thought he would enjoy something new. There was valet parking. The outside was hopping with alot of people and activities. We were 1/2 hour early and thought that we would sit at the bar and have a drink. Instead they sat us right away. We were sitted upstairs in perfect view of the band. They did not play to loudly so we were able to hear each other talk. Our server, Stephanie, was awesome. The Tuna Tartare with seaweed was so tasty. The grilled beef tenderloin was cooked just right and succulent. The halibut was moist and did not taste fishy. The bread pudding and carmelized ice cream was very decadent. We would definitely return and I would recommend it everyone.

My wife and I came here for our anniversary and had a great time at this eclectic restaurant. Our table was on the upper level overlooking the stage where a jazz trio played throughout our dinner. The food was great, and came out very quickly. However, we never felt rushed. Stephanie, our server, recommended a very nice wine to go with my braised short ribs. This is the second time we ate there, both times were excellent and we will be back.

The Beehive is such a fun place, and we love the food and dine here frequently. Our only complaint is that it is really crowded, and this sometimes makes the staff pushy. We made a reservation, but our table wasn't ready until 45 min after our reservation time, and we weren't treated very well when we inquired as to how long the wait would be. Also, we were seated right next to the door, so it was quite cold.

My girlfriend and I usually go to the Beehive for a nice dinner before a night on the town. The beehive's portions are incredible and we are always delighted by the service and quality of food. Recommendations: the mussels are the biggest, tastiest I have ever had. It's a "must try" appetizer. The entire menu is great but usually I stick with the Steak frites. It's always cooked exactly how I ask and is just enough for a filling meal, but not too much so you feel stuffed.

The food was delicious, music was just right (fun, relaxing, not too loud), service was excellent and meals were ready one after the next. I did feel a little rushed. Perhaps a little balance with a touch of more time between courses. This is one thing I never complain about, so it was very minimum, but there was a feeling of wanting you in, served, and out. Overall this is one of my favorite dinner joints. If you make reservations, I recommend stating that you want downstairs seating in the main dinning room, near the music. On some nights, without the request you put you upstairs, which isn't where the live music is. Enjoy

Everbody from the hostess on was very friendly and made it fun to be there. Our server, Bobby, was exceptional. He was knowledgeable and helpful when ordring. When there was a mistake on my order he took care of it promptly and without any fuss. There wee others helping to serve and clear tables and they obviously have been trained well, asked if I was "still enjoying" rather then saying "Are you still working on that?". My husband's meal, the bohemian special was very good. The fries were differnt but also very tasty. My omelet was ordinary. I gave them 4 stars for ambiance only because it was a jazz brunch and when we first sat down the tro was awesome, then they took a 45 min break.

I was considering a Brunch Cruise around Boston, but had already seen most of during a segway tour we were on the day prior. The live jazz musicians was what caught my eye about this restaurant. But when we got there, it was more than expected. Very friendly staff, and they know what they're serving. The appetizers were nothing like the normal appetizer (try the Mediterranean Platter). Then the main courses....WOW! The quantity and the quality. I would love to go visit this place again.

Came here on a Sunday morning for the jazz brunch with my husband, my sister and her boyfriend for a special occasion. When I made the reservation I requested to be seated so we can see the jazz band, and we were sat right in front of the band! It was a little loud sitting directly in front of them, but we didn't mind since we came for the jazz! The atmosphere is awesome. The service was great, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were delicious. The bloody marys were spicy and strong, exactly what we like. The french toast was heavenly, and the sweet potato chorizo hash melted in your mouth! I would go back in a heart beat.

Best Bloody Mary I have had and the hanger steak and eggs were delish and a great hangover remedy after hitting the Petty concert the night before. We were seated right at our reservation time and the service was quick when we sat but tailed off a bit as it got busier. We had to wait for the check for more then 15 min and the AC in the resturant was not working that well (maybe hotflashes from the hangover.) All in all a great spot for brunh. Well done.

The aesthetic quality of the meal here is substandard. Taste is ok. I was shocked when I ordered the Japanese salad and was served a very sloppy pile of iceberg. Has the chef been to Japan? Food there is all about the beauty and taste. The main courses were just ok. This restaurant seems so 1985. They wouldn't survive in most large metropolitan markets.
