  • "Sadly, I found the brunch menu "sleepy" and unexciting, as well as rather unhealthy. They would not accomodate and make a large frisee salad (or whatever salad was on the menu) for me, and I ended up with a delicious smoked salmon (with frisee - lol), but not what I wanted. And that plus a chix club and two mimosas with tip was $84. For brunch??!! That's a bit ridiculous. So many more vibrant choice restaurants to pick from; it's a shame because it's a charming location. They need to wake up the menu and offer a brunch drink included with the meal so it's not such a silly price. Also, forget the rustic: pave their back driveway, the rock climbing is ridiculous and rocks that kick up could damage one's car. I will not return."

  • "I was surprised when we got there that the main house where I ate before is closed and that we would be eating in the Barn. We ate outside because inside was more like a bar. The food was very good but the menu was extremely limited. The barn does not have the ambiance or elegance of the main house. Hopefully, it will reopen soon."

  • "Really strange and limited holiday menu. Sour wines by the glass. I tried two and ended up with a diet coke instead. Teeny tiny portions. Gamey hamburger meat. Under-cooked fries. Coleslaw was memorably good. The rest of our meal was shockingly bad. Will not go back here. Ever. You shouldn't risk it either."

The food was all a bit "greasy" and looked as though it had been thrown onto the plate. Big disappointment for such a beautiful spot with so much potential."

  • "We were seated almost immediately at an outdoor table. Service was a bit slow, but adequate. Wine list is not extensive - but a bit pricey - $16.00 for a glass of Rioja. We had the Bronzino which was excellent. Portions are not large, but satisfying for most. Dessert was "unusual". Overall the experience was quite pleasant."

  • "Our Father's Day dinner took two whole hours from the time we arrived. It took 5 minutes for anyone to bring us water, another 15 before we received drinks. When we ordered entrees, we were told that they would take 20-25 minutes to come out, so we should order appetizers. Bread didn't arrive until we had been sitting for 20 minutes - a small amount for 5 people, and it was never refreshed. We received our entrees 55 minutes after we sat down. By that time, we had finished our drinks and it took 10 minutes to get more. Our burger arrived with cheese when we had clearly ordered a plain burger, and there was no ketchup, which took another 5 minutes to arrive. By the time we were done with dessert and had paid, we all felt exhausted."

  • "Great ambience, can't beat Bedford, NY; however, I expected a much more complete brunch. The menu was very simple. I ordered pancakes. I was served 2 thin pancakes that I could have made better by myself. No powdered sugar (we asked for it but it was never brought), not a berry or extra. Very disappointing. My husband ordered brioche french toast which was more substantial. Coffee and brunch drinks had to be ordered separately. Overall, adequate - not what I expected."

  • "The restaurant is very quaint. There were four of us and we really enjoyed each and every meal. I had the roasted hen and it was very delicious. It took a little extra time to cook because everything is cooked to order. Worth the wait. The desert was to write home about. It was almond cake with strawberry sorbet and fresh strawberries and almonds. I have to say it was right up there as one of my favorites. My only complaint would have to be with the coffee. It was much too strong for all of us. Wish the weather was better as we would have loved to dine outside. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling in the area. It a real hidden gem."

  • "The outside was too buggy we had to go inside. We thought the main restaurant was where we were eating and it was under construction and the site did not say this. The menu was very limited but the food was very good except for the marinated to tomatoes. Portions are probably what they should be, but not what we are used too. "

  • "The cold beet soup was outstanding, capelletti very tasty, hen very moist and done perfectly, mussels were nothing to write home about. They were a bit soft and not especially tasty, despite the very nice sauce which was good with bread. The arancini were just okay. The mascarpone panna cotta with raspberry sorbet was out of this world. The pistachio chocolate tart was very good; if you're a chocoholic order this. The wines were excellent. The Barn gets noisy, not like the Farmhouse at all, though cozy. Made a reservation for next week."

  • "Who would know that a restaurant with Richard Gere's name affiliated would not be able to handle a transition period for the restaurant. Apparently, Bedford Post Barn is going through a change but no one taught the staff how to accommodate their diners. It took 45 minutes for anyone to realize that we have not gotten a drink as we sat down even though the waitress came over to apologize. When the food finally came out after another hour, the food was full of salt. I truly hope they get their act together, after the transition, because it would be a shame for that space to go to waste."

  • "We were the first ones there when they opened at 9 am, and it felt like we caught them by surprise. They were restocking beverages, coming in the door right next to where we were seated (they apologized, but came through the door a couple more times). They also started a fire in the charming fireplace, opening a window for the draw making the room cold right when our eggs arrived. Wait staff were fine. Maybe if we went back later in the day, my opinion would be higher! Frittata was okay, but got cold quickly. Sausage was great! Menu a little small. I'd try it again for lunch, another in our party raved about the chicken. It feels like a place locals love to hang out, so they may just have been having an off morning."

The procesco was good as was the dessert scone, however one goes to this type of restaurant expecting a nice dining experience. There is no excuse for this."

  • "I met a friend on a cold day for lunch at The Post. There was a lovely fire going and a nice country atmosphere inside. The waitstaff was friendly and courteous and after we finished let us sit and talk without making us feel as id we needed to move along .We both had the chicken paillard on top of the Arugula salad and it was delicious! Will definitely do it again- a much nicer lunch than you are going to find anywhere else in Bedford."

  • "Sorry to hear that the restaurant is changing hands, did not know this prior to my visit. I noticed subtle changes, like asking for bread for the table before the meal arrived. I was told that bread was not served on weekends because there is no weekend delivery. So I could order one of the pastries, if I wanted. Really? This was a $50.00 lunch for 2, we did not order alcohol and only 1 ordered a virgin Bloody Mary. The place was busy, but no more so than any other time I have been there, the service was poor at best.The food was good, but the portions were small for the price. Hoping Jean George starts serving lunch soon."

  • "We come to the Bedford Inn a couple times a year. First because it's a stunning relaxed room. It feels old world. Second, it's absolutely the perfect atmosphere for a weekend brunch with friends. The smokey smells from the kitchen are to die for. However, over the past few years the portion sizes have gotten very small i.e. a burger w/ fries: I think I could count exactly 20 thin sliced fries on the plate. When served w/ a salad, I had to ask for more because even in a 3rd world country that's not a salad portion. The service continues to be extremely poor. Simple requests like "dressing on the side" or "extra whatever" cannot and never are accommodated despite the servers assurance. Getting the bill took forever."

  • "What a disappointment, and a costly one at that. Service was incredibly poor and inattentive - the waiters were horsing around behind the bar not paying attention. The mussels shared as an appetizer were good, but nothing outstanding. Had to ask for bread to dip, and that took forever. The veggie burger was good and unusual, worth taking note of but, the cuban sandwich, not very large, overdone to the point of almost burnt, and extremely salty. The bare wood table top was not wiped between appetizer and next dish and one would think that a restaurant of this caliber would recognize that mussels are eaten with your hand and you need something to wash/wipe them after you're finished eating them. $4.00 for coffee! That gives you an idea."

  • "Restaurant small, cozy and casual. We had reservations and had to wait only five minutes for a table. For brunch all tables were filled. The brunch choices were many, we each had a different choice: Eggs, bacon, sausage all perfect, frittata was yummy, Brioche french toast was very good, poached eggs over salmon were delicious . There is also a nice selection of pastries and croissants which we ordered to take home. We were a table of four, 2 of the orders came out wrong but the chef came out almost immediately with the correct order, I think the plates got switched in the kitchen. It was very picturesque with the fireplace and everything draped in snow outside the front windows. Would like to return in the summer for the outdoor seating."

As we were with new friends, we didn't want to make a scene. I had the oatmeal which, despite being cold, was good but the portion size was small. My husband had the eggs which were cold as well."

  • "We sat upstairs on Sunday, Jan. 26th for an early afternoon brunch. It was a chilly up there. Service started out sluggish at best. A drink order was taken immediately and because we'd been waiting for a while and were hungry we also ordered a pastry with our drinks. No one returned with our drinks for close to ten minutes and when they arrived the pastry was missing. From then on, things improved dramatically. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the service the rest of the way was attentive, friendly, and efficient. We'd come back. The portions, as we'd been warned, were on the small side. We ordered accordingly and left satisfied. The pricing is appropriate. Next time, we'll wait to sit by the fire."
