It took 35 min to get our main course after we sat for 15 to give our order. A large party showed up and sat in our section about 10 min after we had arrived. All the attention went to them. We had to ask for water, ask for pasta which is the specialty on the menu where they come around and continue to serve what you like. The empty wine bottle and water bottle sat on the table until desert, we had to ask they be removed. IT WAS SO STRANGE. I love BECCO's. Often the restaurants in this area are overpriced and mediocre. At Becco's we were greeted warmly, I didn't feel like a sardine in a can and food was delicious. Our family loved the chicken parmagiana and ceasar salad. The three pastas of the day were all really good and not expensive. The bread at the table was warm and delicious too. When the bread is good, you know your meal will be good too. I've been to Becco several times, and I always enjoy going back. Their family style menu is a great way to experience a good variety of dishes in one sitting. It was noisy, but nothing like was described in other reviews. We tend to like lively places anyway. It is crowded and packed though, so if you want to spread out you may not be able to. The food was attractively plated, hot and delicious. The wine list on the back page of the menu listed wines for $25.00 a bottle that we found very good. Menu caters to a variety of tastes.
I would easily recommend Becco and will return for dinner myself.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMwadda dinner!!Having eaten at lydia's here in K.C. we were expecting similar food, but it was even better! the energy level there is very high, and it's a fun, noisy place to eat where tables are within inches of each other, and waiters move at 50 mph! The liver is fab, for those who love liver, and the veal is, well, the best ever! My wife went with the pasta trip which was fab by itself. A great place to have a wonderful Italian dinner.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh, Friendly and AffordableLocated conveniently on Restaurant Row in the theater district, this was probably the best Italian food that I've had. Everything was freshly prepared and delicious. Starting with the welcoming breadbasket, tray of olives and a cannelini bean " humus," I enjoyed a version of chicken parm was light and delicious while my wife had the unlimited plate of 3 different pastas, also excellent. The food is modestly priced and the extensive wine list with all bottles priced at $25 is an excellent idea. We liked it so much that we returned after the show for dessert.
The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We look forward to visiting again soon. They honored my request for a prime table, the food was delicious, the chef even provided a few extra dishes and a refreshing bottle of dessert wine. I needed to look for something real quick for my birthday party with 13 diners. They had the capacity so I took it right away. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great and cozy. The food was good (I ordered pork chop) although not the best Italian food I have had. Everyone in my group enjoyed the place. We were greeted and taken to our table. The server was very professional and nice. All of the servers we saw seemed to like their jobs and were nice to be around. The bread, drinks and lunch and dessert were great. We all had a chicken dish for our entree. I would definitely recommend this establishment to all when up in New York theater district. The service is wonderful. Not rushed, enough time to enjoy your drink before your meal arrives. My friend had the three pasta special and we split the salad. The portions are large. I had a favorite I hardly ever find on menus, calves liver with onions over crispy polenta. Just wonderful, but way too much food. Can't take it with you to the theater. We did make a pact, no more entrées for lunch, just appetizers, a much better sized portion yet still big enough to share. This year I planned accordingly. Upfront the host greatly me promptly and validated my reservation. The host greeted me and validated my reservation and I waited less 5 minutes for my table. I had a set by the window upstairs overlooking the neighborhood. The waiter explained the menu and specials to me. I ordered the ribeye which was cooked to a perfect medium rare temperature as I ordered and was great.
Overall it was a great experience, staff was very friendly, service was excellent, and the food was great. There is a large selections of wine for $25/bottle.. All entrees come with a ceasar salad which is crispy & you can taste the anchovie. My swordfish was good. My DH had the rib eye. Even thought it was tasty, it was very chewy. He would not order it again. The cheese cake was excellent. Service was attentive and 2 different mgr came to to table to see if we were enjoying our meal.

Great wait staff that listened to our needs (wine selection, diet restriction - no dairy in soup?, no theater hurry). Stuffed peppers and shredded pork were excellent choices. Portions were right-sized and served hot. The main dining areas is active, but food fun, and you don't feel rushed. When we left, at peak time, and many waiting - interestingly the neighboring restaurants were much less active. Becco is well know for a reason. A true value - food quality on par with other more costly favorite italian restaurants. We waited about 10 minutes past our reservation time but that's to be expected pre-theatre. Once we were seated, service was prompt and very friendly. We ordered the 3 pasta special and it was fresh and delicious. My daughter had the caesar salad that came with it and it was very good but the antipasto misto my husband and I had was just outstanding. We also had a $25 bottle of wine which the waiter recommended was very good for the price. The Chef's pasta specials were wonderful. ON the night we dines, there was homemade mushroom ravioli in a light truffle oil, homemade linguini with broccoli and rigatoni and shrimp in a vodka sauce. The mushroom ravioli was my favorite, but each selection was well crafted and delicious. Everything was wonderful..we decided to be tempted by the 3 pastas...highly recommended! The grilled veggie appetizer and fresh mozzarella flavors all so different and complimentary. We were 20 minutes late for our reservation (thank you Lincoln Tunnel) and they seated our dinner companion 30 minutes before our arrival and still us curtously and without hassel when we arrived, and service was impecably done so that we did not feel rushed. And yet made our show curtain easily. The three pasta plus $25 bottle of wine deal, is still the best value for quality in the theater district in my opiniom. Food as always, was great.. The pasta special may be the best deal on 46 street and is always excellent. The regular menu and specialties are always of high quality. Fish is fresh, the veal is excellent, and the service is superb. Be sure to have reservations and be prepared to wait in a crowded area if you have reservations at the height of the preshow dinner hour. Even though there was no "kid menu" they accommodated my youngest child's request of pasta with butter only. My older one had the trio pasta and loved it. My husband and I enjoyed our dishes and he had a great time just perusing the wine menu.
