A word from Beauty and Essex
From the team behind The Stanton Social comes Beauty & Essex, a grand 10,000 square foot restaurant, bar, & lounge in the heart of the lower east side.

The atmosphere of the space is both grand and intimate, moody and effervescent. Various rooms for lounging and dining unfold on two floors, like a large turn-of-the-century townhouse. Each room has its own unique elements that celebrate timeless jewelry designs and upscale jewelry stores.

The cuisine is multi-ethnic in inspiration, casually elegant, and designed for sharing at the table among friends and family. Where the Stanton Social"s menu is Chef Chris Santos' take on cocktail party classics and street foods from across the globe, Beauty & Essex is rooted in a bold bistro direction focusing on the reinvention of modern family style dining that is both whimsical and sophisticated.

Great selection for small, sharing plates. The beef marrow was probably the best selection. We went on a Friday night - a fairly loud restaurant, but decent music.

The food and atmosphere is awesome, but everything goes to fast. Its nice if you are in a hurry because you dont have to ask for anything, when the plate is empty it will be removed and you will get the dessert menu right away and when that is done the check will be handed to you. This is not a good way to handle a romantic couple. We dont want to feel is stressed. Fix this and i will glady come back another time. Thanks!

We were recommended by our local restauranteur in Melbourne, Australia as a place to go. He said we would be amazed and he was right. Stepping off Essex St into a pawn shop has one thinking their at the wrong place but once you pass through the door at the back off the shop this amazing and vibrant restaurant reveals itself. The service was proficient, the food delicious and the setting/decor eclectic.

Beauty & Essex was a fantastic experience. We were a tricky bunch - we changed our reservation time, our party size (twice), asked for a different seating area and special special service and had some extreme food allergies, and Beauty & Essex staff handled it all with grace, friendliness and without a hitch in their stride. The decor is stunning and the food was fantastic. Everything I ate was phenomenal, and I would recommend their red velvet waffles with cream cheese icing to anyone. The 'pawn shop' entryway is a cute concept and the speakeasy atmosphere really made it an entertaining spot for my out of town guest. This is going to be one of my go-to brunch locations!

This restaurant is a great place to go and feel like you are in one of the hot spots in NYC. The food does not disappoint either! It lived up to what I expected from Chris Santos's restaurant! My kale salad was one of the best I have ever had! The combination of apple, pancetta, candied pecans, and shaved goat cheese was like perfection with just the right amount of salt, sweet and crunch. I had a side of roasted asparagus, and although it was simple it was delicious. My daughter had the Duck Pizzetta and it was served with tamarind and salsa verda and topped off with a sunny side duck egg......double yum! We both enjoyed two virgin cocktails that were so good I didn't miss the alcohol (well almost)!

Whether for brunch or dinner, this is the place that consistently delivers imaginative and delicious food. I brought globetrotting friends visiting new york again who have probably eaten at every top restaurant in new york. They were surprised that they never came to Beauty and Essex. It is a gem of a find for them and my default place for a "hip cool spot" with great food. Those two combinations are usually mutually exclusive. Kudos to the executive chef.
