A word from Beauty and Essex
From the team behind The Stanton Social comes Beauty & Essex, a grand 10,000 square foot restaurant, bar, & lounge in the heart of the lower east side.

The atmosphere of the space is both grand and intimate, moody and effervescent. Various rooms for lounging and dining unfold on two floors, like a large turn-of-the-century townhouse. Each room has its own unique elements that celebrate timeless jewelry designs and upscale jewelry stores.

The cuisine is multi-ethnic in inspiration, casually elegant, and designed for sharing at the table among friends and family. Where the Stanton Social"s menu is Chef Chris Santos' take on cocktail party classics and street foods from across the globe, Beauty & Essex is rooted in a bold bistro direction focusing on the reinvention of modern family style dining that is both whimsical and sophisticated.

I guess what this restaurant offers the most is a great ambiance (old Hollywood style). They also offer complementary champagne in the ladies restroom which makes it quite glamorous. As far as the food, I only rate it 3 out of 5 stars because the food is good but not great. I went in with a friend and our waiter suggested we order 7 to 8 different plates since it's a tapas kind of place. We went only for 3. We got the 24 oz Rib eye which was a little undercooked, but it was good and tasty, the spring onion and potato puree (tasty) and the kale and apple salad. The service at the front desk was terrible, they also sat us in a booth that was broken and I had to ask for a different table. The waiter was helpful, and lady in restroom was sweet.

We visited for a family birthday get together. Staff was friendly, accommodating and very helpful. I had asked in my Open Table reservation to be seated near back so it would be a little quieter for our get together and that is exactly where we were placed. We did eat on the earlier side, 6:00, so that helps with noise level. The food was wonderful, love the small plate pacing. Even guys who prefer more food all at once agreed that although the small plate is not their style of eating they enjoyed the entire evening!

Wonderful place, the faux entrance is great, speakeasy-esque... We had an early reservation and it was quite empty, and despite us being the first customers, the tables were not that clean... which should be taken care of. But the way the menu is set up is interesting and good for sharing. The food is excellent I found the waiter to be a little pushy, even when just asking us for our drinks. But this is an amazing place.

Returned to Beauty and Essex and was thoroughly disappointed by the experience checking in and having to wait over an hour to get seated for our 11pm reservation. (Not even dinner rush! Who wants to eat dinner past midnight?!) The main hostess was not pleasant and apathetic, making this frustrating situation even worse. What is interesting is that they are keen to clear tables and rush you out, but can't seem to manage their reservations adequately. This set a bad tone for what was to be a special meal, so we opted to skip hanging at the bar and just leave. Our waitress was invisible - the bus boys were more helpful and personable than she was. Terrible service all around.

I had a great time at Beauty & Essex. It wasn't my first time there but it was my first time there this late. I thought it would be slowing down because we arrived at 10. I thought wrong. We had to wait 30 minutes to be seated (even though I had a reservation). That was the worst part. Everything else was perfect!

Such a fun, energetic, beautiful restaurant. Food is great and the menu has tons of choices from small apps to salads, pastas and meat entrees. It is dark and noisy which we like but may not be the best place if you are looking for a quiet romantic spot. And the pink bubbly they have at the ladies room is a fun extra! I have been to Beauty & Essex a few times and it's always good!

I loved everything about it - the food, the service, the ambience. I heard good reviews about it and was not disappointed after my visit. The menu had a great range of food, and the 5 dishes we ordered were all exquisite. Service was impeccable, the place was beautiful and the prices were reasonable at just over $30 per person for s group of 4 at brunch. One of my favourite places in New York now. I would recommended it to anyone.

I came here for my birthday this past Saturday. I've been before 9 months ago for a friends bday celebration and we had an amazing time! I had no Idea it was that huge because the lower level wasn't open. Well this past Saturday I made reservations for 9:30pm and It was a full house!! Amazing décor and ambiance as usual..Dj is out of this world...insane. This is not a place to go if you want a quiet romantic dinner. This is definitely a place to go in a group and to have a loud hip and trendy fun night out! The food is ok but not worth the price you pay for those tiny portions. Better off getting appetizers and cocktails. The entree's are the same size anyway. All in all a wonderful night in a beautiful place..Beauty on Essex yes!!!!!

We went here expecting a fantastic meal and cool ambience. We got a crowded, very noisy scene where the food is not the focal point. Despite the meals sounding great, they underwhelmed on delivery and we really couldn't hear each other over the blaring music and noisy clientele. I would def say start out here if you're out with your girlfriends and want to grab some snacks and a few drinks/ celebrate a birthday and then carry on with your night. I wouldn't recommend for a date night though.

Beauty and Essex is quite a show. Chest thumping music. All of the beautiful people being seen and acting opulent. Beautiful building and decor. Food is intended to satisfy foodies but it is a big restaurant and they are putting out a lot of volume with a diverse and complicated menu. So it is very good but probably falls short of the highest standard. I would never go to this kind of a restaurant very often. Too many sensory inputs. But it was exactly the glitzy, clubby, self important atmosphere you want to show someone about New York when they have not visited before. They do a great job. But i was ready for a quieter wind down spot when we left. (though i am a couple decades older than their target cline…which much be mid twenties

At first sight this place looks just like a pawn shop, oh wait, it is a pawn shop that opens up into the most amazing restaurant. Our experience was fun and delicious, we had a fantastic waitress that couldn't do enough for us. The food was so good, especially the salt and vinegar fries and the bone marrow on toast. We also tried their donut jewel box which we could have had two serves of. The only thing I would like to add is that the music is quite loud but it adds to the experience and vibe of the place.

I had very high hopes for this place considering who the executive chef is. Although the decor is fantastic and the salmon ceviche was a plus, it is EXTREMELY loud (I might as well have come alone, I couldn't hear anything!) and the other food was nothing to rave about. Specifically, the scallops were cold and had an odd smoky flavor, the lobster squid ink pasta was so runny that when you ate the noodles it was difficult to taste the broth-like "sauce", foie gras appetizer was so sweet that it should be categorized as a dessert, and peaches toast had so little burrata thinly smeared on the bread, that it could be easily confused for ricotta or cream cheese. Service was top notch but the overall experience was very disappointing.
