A word from Beauty and Essex
From the team behind The Stanton Social comes Beauty & Essex, a grand 10,000 square foot restaurant, bar, & lounge in the heart of the lower east side.

The atmosphere of the space is both grand and intimate, moody and effervescent. Various rooms for lounging and dining unfold on two floors, like a large turn-of-the-century townhouse. Each room has its own unique elements that celebrate timeless jewelry designs and upscale jewelry stores.

The cuisine is multi-ethnic in inspiration, casually elegant, and designed for sharing at the table among friends and family. Where the Stanton Social"s menu is Chef Chris Santos' take on cocktail party classics and street foods from across the globe, Beauty & Essex is rooted in a bold bistro direction focusing on the reinvention of modern family style dining that is both whimsical and sophisticated.

Arrived late to my reservation and they were extremely accomodating to seat us when we arrived. Celebrated my girlfriends birthday and we were extremely satisfied with everything brought to our table. The Lamb is to die for perfectly cooked and flavored!! The bomb! One negative!!!!! NO MORE LOBSTER MAC N CHEESE!!! WHY CHRIS, WHY???? Other than that from the onion rings to the steak tartar, AMAZING.

The music got turned up to a very high level on the main floor when the DJ got there. It made conversing with everyone challenging at best. But for the music, the ambiane would have been FANTASTIC!. This place is AWESOME!

This place is DEFINITLY a lot of fun for drinks, the food is average. The only thing I was upset about was that I was seated 30 mins after my reservation and not one apology. The place was so crowded there was no where to wait and everyone kept telling us to move. So that was unenjoyable. Our waiter was a delight, and I did have a good time. I just know what I'm getting myself now. This is DEFINITLY a place to drink! I know now for next time.

Great spot to take a date or a group. In my case it was a date night and we ordered five of their small plates to be shared and every bite was magical! The flavors that they made work, were just incredible. The Grilled Cheese, Smoked Bacon & Tomato Soup Dumplings were like an explosion of flavor in your mouth that left you wanting more. We didn't even order an entree because the small plate selection were plenty for the two of us. I would highly recommend.

You cant tell from the outside, but this place is beautiful. Perfect for a date night. Very attentive service, almost to a fault. I really enjoyed the ambience. The food left a little to be desired. The coconut fish ceviche didnt have any flavor. The chicken meatballs were a tad bit dry. The cocktails are awesome. The dessert however was decadent. The mousse cups and jaeger hot chocolate were both great!

For an out of towner this place is great, probably great for a local too. The food was really good an the ambience great. I loved the way the place looked and the pawn shop out the front was fun. What could do with improvement is the bar to table transition. We were seated 15 minutes late but we didn't mind as we were at the bar having a drink, under the normal impression that when our table was ready we could transition over and bring the wine tab with us, nope, not here. We needed to settle the bar tab first. This concept was a little behind the times in my opinion so if they could sort that out it would be great.

This is probably one of the coolest restaurants I have been too! The food was excellent! And the location itself is unique (I don't want to give anything away). My only complaint is the music was so loud it was like being in a club! Which is fine as long as you don't need to hear what the specials are or who you are talking too! I could have gone 5 stars if they turned down the tunes. I would still go back!

This came so highly recommended. We received a telephone call that we had to be within 15 minutes of our reservation or lose it. We arrive 20 minutes early to have drinks and await our dinner guest. Our guest arrived 5 minutes late but well within the appropriate time. An hour and a half later, large parties and small parties passed through the bar to be seated, and we were still sitting there. We checked several times with the hostess stand and all they did was tell us that they were waiting for tables to pay their bill, and stall us. After an hour and 15 minutes, we were compted three appetizers and a round of drinks. Once seated, the service and food were great. Was it typical of this restaurant, or just bad luck?

We enjoyed the restaurant, the staff, food wine selections, everything was quality. However, it was so loud that we had to raise our voices to hear each other at our table, a small table for 3. That wasn't pleasant after about the first 10 minutes. There are space-planning methods that can minimize such problems and still allow people to laugh it up and party without obliterating any chance of conversation for other diners. It is pricey but maybe that's what comes with the hot, new, trendy Manhattan eatery.

Really great Sat night experience, right from the get go. Wait staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. Venue is awesome. Started with delicious cocktails at the bar. Then food and wine were amazing. Great sharing options or full plates for yourself. Delightful flavours that to think about would make your mouth water. All in all, 5/5 for all. Found this place online & so wanted to check it out. It was a birthday celebration for my 16yr. old nephew & I was very happy he wanted to go. Decor is lovely, smooth atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Four different main courses plus five different apps.....every single bite was superb! Our server could have been a little more attentive but the service from the bus-boys made up for it(one fellow happily changed some bills for me so I could have appropriate tip money for the "champagne girl" in the ladies "lounge" We all had a great evening....even made some purchases out front in the Pawn Shop! If you visit NYC.. u gotta check this place out! p.s Never thought I'd tell strangers(women) to.... "go check out the ladies room!" ;)

I have been here before. The food was terrible. Our server was not attentive. They didn't refill our water the entire evening. They brought 5 small plates out at once - there was no room at the table. Then the manager came over to politely nudge us to order dessert so we would leave and they could seat the next table because we had been there for 2 hours. Maybe they should just put an alarm clock on the table.
