A word from Beauty and Essex
From the team behind The Stanton Social comes Beauty & Essex, a grand 10,000 square foot restaurant, bar, & lounge in the heart of the lower east side.

The atmosphere of the space is both grand and intimate, moody and effervescent. Various rooms for lounging and dining unfold on two floors, like a large turn-of-the-century townhouse. Each room has its own unique elements that celebrate timeless jewelry designs and upscale jewelry stores.

The cuisine is multi-ethnic in inspiration, casually elegant, and designed for sharing at the table among friends and family. Where the Stanton Social"s menu is Chef Chris Santos' take on cocktail party classics and street foods from across the globe, Beauty & Essex is rooted in a bold bistro direction focusing on the reinvention of modern family style dining that is both whimsical and sophisticated.

  • "Seemed like a formerly trendy place now packed with big groups dressed to nines and out for annoying night on the town. Food ok but not fabulous. Very loud. Huge place. Gimmicky design. Would not go back."

  • "You'd never guess from standing outside, but this place is a gem. Great food, vibrant atmosphere and excellent service. Get the Lamb chops for sure!"

  • "The cheese dumplings were to die for. Very pleased we listened to the recommendations of the waiter. The wine was pricey (where isn't it in NYC) but the food was well worth every penny."

  • "I've been here several times. Ambiance and decor is great! The good is hit or miss. I've ordered the same app and entrées and sometimes it is great and sometimes it is lackluster. Drinks are creative and awesome. I'd say go at least once!"

  • "Beauty & Essex was a fantastic experience. We were a tricky bunch - we changed our reservation time, our party size (twice), asked for a different seating area and special special service and had some extreme food allergies, and Beauty & Essex staff handled it all with grace, friendliness and without a hitch in their stride. The decor is stunning and the food was fantastic. Everything I ate was phenomenal, and I would recommend their red velvet waffles with cream cheese icing to anyone. The 'pawn shop' entryway is a cute concept and the speakeasy atmosphere really made it an entertaining spot for my out of town guest. This is going to be one of my go-to brunch locations!"

  • "This restaurant is a great place to go and feel like you are in one of the hot spots in NYC. The food does not disappoint either! It lived up to what I expected from Chris Santos's restaurant! My kale salad was one of the best I have ever had! The combination of apple, pancetta, candied pecans, and shaved goat cheese was like perfection with just the right amount of salt, sweet and crunch. I had a side of roasted asparagus, and although it was simple it was delicious. My daughter had the Duck Pizzetta and it was served with tamarind and salsa verda and topped off with a sunny side duck egg......double yum! We both enjoyed two virgin cocktails that were so good I didn't miss the alcohol (well almost)!"

  • "This was such a great restaurant for my wife and I to have our fifth anniversary celebration. It was lively and trendy. The music was good and the food was amazing. The whole restaurant is really sexy and I can't wait to go back again. The cocktails were very good and the spicy tuna tacos are a must try. Love the speakeasy theme behind the pawn shop facade."

  • "Noisy, we were seated pretty close to the speakers. More little ones than a big one would be great. But, beside that we had enjoyed our evening. All the dishes were so marvelous, tasty, well presented, creative, colourful. Impeccable service and great wine. A very nice dinner. We recommand deeply."

  • "Whether for brunch or dinner, this is the place that consistently delivers imaginative and delicious food. I brought globetrotting friends visiting new york again who have probably eaten at every top restaurant in new york. They were surprised that they never came to Beauty and Essex. It is a gem of a find for them and my default place for a "hip cool spot" with great food. Those two combinations are usually mutually exclusive. Kudos to the executive chef."

  • "hidden in the back of an old store, beauty and essex charms and delights you from the moment you realize you are in the right place. romantic, yet vibrant, with great drinks, food, service and vibe. Ask to make sure they don't "rush" you however, that was the only fault we could find in our experience."

  • "I'd heard so much about this restaurant and was looking quite forward to it. The food is yummy but I've had tastier food, especially for the price other places. The drinks were delicious. The ambiance was pretty and quirky which I liked. The hostess were slightly snobby but thankful our waitress was very cool.I'm not opposed to going back but I'd probably pick a different restaurant first."

He recommended Beauty & Essex. Our party of 5 had a lovely time. We made a reservation and were seated right away. Cocktails were pretty and yummy. Dinner was a feast for the eyes as well as the palate."

  • "The food was great although quite expensive but the music is just way too loud. I couldn't hear my husband sitting across the table from me or anything our server said at all. It's just not as nice enjoying a meal without being able to have a conversation."
