Loved the romantic ambience of the restaurant, and the fact that it is in a somewhat secluded area. We would have eaten outdoors, but it was too dim to read the menu. Restaurant had a relaxed, homey feel. The food was exceptional, putting Beaujolais at the top of our favorites list. Never had marlin before but loved it, as well as the mushroom cigars. Hubby loved the French onion soup and duck breast. Everything was served hot and perfectly seasoned, much to our liking. Perhaps a wider selection of appetizers? Our attentive waitress gave vivid descriptions of unfamiliar items, and the owner/chef, and maître d' stopped by, making us feel like royalty. We'll DEFINITELY be back to see what else is on the daily changing menu!

I was especially delighted to find out that there was a restaurant that caters to people with good taste and fine dining. Beautiful location near the Truckee river. The service was excellent and the food was presented beautifully. The food was excellent and I would recommended this place highly and also return for another meal there.

Beaujolais Bistro is a charming, very “French” restaurant, which my husband and I (northern Californians) were surprised to find in downtown Reno. We didn’t even know such lovely part of Reno existed, until we took a friend’s advice and made plans to eat at Beaujolais. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly – although he declined to choose from “Les Plat Principaux” for me. He did recommend a great cocktail – the Vieux Carré – that I can only hope to duplicate at home. I eventually chose the leg of lamb and my husband had the beef bourguignon. Both entrees were delicious! If we were more adventurous, we might have had sweetbreads, or rabbit, or pork belly – those being just a few of the not-same-old-things on the menu. Maybe next time.

Looking for a gem in the charm of an old house? Want to enjoy gourmet food and fabulous service and still feel like home? Then, get over to Beaujolais and dine on fresh ingredients and choose a wine from a long, varied list. We plan on another visit our next trip to Reno as there were so many dishes we wanted to try. Could not believe the creativity of the chef and the polish of the staff. Get there or be square!

This was AMAZING! I did a little reaserch on restaunts in the reno area on my resent trip with my wife. The yelp reviews sold me and we decided to have dinner before our night out on the town. From start to finish the food was out of this world. I recommend the Charcuterie plate for starters and the Beef Bourganty for a main course. I can't forget the creme brûlée for dessert, so creamy. If your in reno and need a place of recommendation for dinner, this is the spot.

They got the setting and ambience just right. What a great little neighborhood restaurant. It has a unique bar (you look into the kitchen). This was our second trip here. The food was better the first time. The menu is simple but with good offerings. The wine list is very nice. We got an outside table that was perfect. Unfortunately our server didn't seem too enthusiastic to take care of us - nothing bad, just flat. The only disappointment of the evening was the meals. The plates were hot but the food wasn't (and this was fairly early in the evening so they weren't overly busy). Nice presentation of the plates, but all of the food was overly salty. Not inedible but it took away from the meal. I'm sure they'll get it back. Worth going there.

We have always loved Beaujolais, even at the older location. We love the people, the care that goes into the cuisine, the ambiance, the style of service and the knowledge of food and wine. We love our bus boy Abel, we've been waited on by Mel, and Josh, and each time our experience is perfect! They have a wonderful before and after dinner drink special, and a perfect setting. It may very well be the best restaurant in Reno.

We had walked past Beaujolais Bistro many times and the atmosphere was inviting and the diners all looked happy, so we decided to try it for ourselves. We had a lovely table for two on the outdoor patio overlooking the river. The service was very attentive, and the food both looked and tasted exquisite. We took our own wine but their wine list was very tempting and reasonably priced. Five stars!

food was pretty OK but not fantastic which disappointed given the nosebleed-inducing prices (steak frites way overflowing with frites and no greens on plate; duck confit way too dry; chicken pedestrian) Cocktails were mediocre at best; didn't seem like bartender knew what he/she was doing (French 75 served on highball with tons of ice and tacky giant straw. Overall: disappointed. High notes: the space is very nice and inviting.

This was my first time to Beaujolis Bistro's new location...the new place, combined with the always terrific food, makes this now one of my favorite restaurants in Reno. The oyster appetizer started off a great meal, alongside the lamb tongue salad and the lamb entree. Will definitely go back soon.

The entire experience here was nothing short of perfection. We were seated on time for our reservation and our server was spot on the entire night. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice; they did a very tasteful buildout of the space. The food though, is why this restaurant was such a pleasure. Every item on the menu was tantalizing, and every item ordered was absolutely delicious, plated beautifully, and cooked to perfection. While the food wasn't prepared and served lightening fast like many expect (and complain when it isn't), it was well worth the very reasonable wait and provided an excellent, long-lived dining experience.

Our monthly visit to Beaujolais took a turn for the worse this trip. We were sitting an hour before our food arrived. Our server was attentive but men cannot live by bread alone. There were definite signs of low blood sugar at the table. We could have understood it if the restaurant was busy but there were half a dozen empty tables on the front lawn where we were seated. There were more empty tables indoors. Sad. This was our favorite restaurant. Going to try 4th Street Bistro next month.

We were looking for a restaurant away from the casino scene. Beaujolais Bistro was perfect - in a converted residence across the street from the river. Excellent food, beautifully presented. The wine list, although not extensive, is very good. Attentive, friendly service. We ate on the porch, which was very pleasant. There were also a number of tables on the lawn in front of the house. It appeared to us that, were we sitting inside, we would have found it quite noisy. This is not an inexpensive restaurant (certainly by Reno standards). With a bottle of wine, it will surely be over $100 for two, even if one is trying hard to be frugal (which we were not). But for us, it was well worth it.

I'm not one to write a negative review, but when something hits me the wrong way, at least the restaurant should know about it. We came back after a great experience last month. After being promptly seated, the waiter took a little while to come by. We ordered drinks, and looked over the menu. After 15 minutes without our drinks, I finally had to ask our waiter about our drinks; he came back and confesses that "our ticket was lost". That would have been fine, but the same thing happened to our dinner, with the excuse this time that " the kitchen was backed up". The food was good, but by that time, we were frustrated with the experience.

Loved the atmosphere and service. We rarely get dressed up but we did and it was the perfect spot to do so. Subtle, not pretentious, but with probably a reason to be, it was lovely. The duck was incredible. Definitely disappointing bavette steak was way too chewy but they covered about half the cost. (We ate most of it before we told them, chewing what we could since it was late and we were a little too saucy and hungry). All in all, everything was fantastic and I have a feeling- based on our other dishes- the bad steak was a fluke.

We had a great time at Beaujolais! We sat out side on the quiet street across from the river and enjoyed our wine, escargot, pate, and duck confit. We're told that the menu changes daily to fit the ingredients the chef has procured locally. Well, the menu he chose that night was excellent. Our server was also very helpful and kept checking up on us. Great food and a great time!

We dined at Beaujolais Bistro a few years ago in their small restaurant and enjoyed it so much we wanted to return because the food was excellent as was the service. Now that they have moved to new facilities, we can't recommend the restaurant. The noise level was deafening. We couldn't hear each other directly across the table. The service was very poor as they didn't add service staff for a larger restaurant. They need to have someone to help attend the tables. We had to pour our own water, wine, and our empty plates sat on the table for 15 minutes. The food was very good, but we had to wait for 25 minutes for our entrée. The waiter said they were extremely business and apologized, but there is no excuse for overbooking.

Great setting and ambience in this new location for an "old standby" restaurant. The pace of service was excellent, and the menu offers creative options. Beaujolais has the best french chef in town, bar none. Being that he is also the owner, Chef Gilbert takes pride in every plate of food that leave his kitchen. The entire dining room has an open view of the kitchen, and you can see with your own eyes how well he works with his staff to create such wonder food. There is no yelling (a la Gordon Ramsey), and each dish is prepared fresh to order. Chef Gilbert's sauces are to die for and each dish has a unique sauce that complements the protein perfectly. Never oily, never too heavy. Try the Confit Duck, you won't regret it. In fact, try everything on the menu! Do not hesitate to ask your server about any dish. They know them all, and can help you choose based on your tastes.

I have been attempting to write this in the private note section but keep getting the message that I have exceeded the character limit... We reserved the table days in advance through open table. Many preferable tables were open when we arrived. However, the server who seated us said "this is your assigned table." Next time I will call directly. Food: For lack of a better term, bland. To be clear, when I say bland, I mean that the flavors have not been fully developed and means of highlighting flavors (supporting flavors) were not used wisely. Good quality, just nothing that provides for an exceptional experience. Service: My first experience provided me with what I would call horrible service. 15 mins of waiting without being greeted at the front door and a server who didn't know the menu items, who brought our first class of wine after our apps, and who did not have his act together in any way. My next experience was better, but our server was up selling us!!NO BEAUJOLAIS! I will not tolerate gratuitous up-selling, it diminishes what this restaurant is trying to be.

This was our second visit and we were coming back to check it out. We waited ten minutes for our water to come to the table. And when he did it was to tell us he would be right back. By the time he returned we ordered our drinks and our meal together. The beat salad was very good and the shrimp cigars interesting. We waited 40 minutes for our entre' while the table next to us got theirs after having ordered later than us. When it did arrive my chicken was not edible. It was one tiny leg that tasted so bad it was not chewable and the little thigh I was served was very tough. I got more sausage than chicken and the plate looked like left overs from a previous meal. The worst dinner plate I have ever had in recent years. We will not go back.

My family's second time to this French restaurant down by the river.Food took a while to come out but was worth the wait. The service was great but not overbearing. The portions were good size. chanterelles in multiple dishes were excellent and tasted different in each dish. The cocktail menu was good, more like a New Orleans restaurant than a French restaurant. Very refreshing cocktails. The prices are a bit high, so this is a special-occasion kind of place for most people, with the filet priced at $40.
