We went to the Beat Hotel on a whim, not expecting much more than a reasonable meal. We were pleasantly surprised with the food. The harvest salad was just perfect in terms of fresh ingredient and dressing. The sea scallops were delicious, albeit the portion was small (only 3 scallops). The steak was cooked to perfection. The band was playing sometimes loud, but it was great. The staff was friendly. So yeah.. will definitely go back again for some late dinner and music.

I love the Beat Hotel, especially when getting brunch. The food, coffee, drinks from the bar and live music are excellent. This past time I was there however, our server Gabriel was disappointingly rude. He very obviously only made eye contact with one of us and when addressing the table only spoke to the one person. He never asked how any of the others at the table was enjoying their meal and was very inattentive overall. all other people working there, were very friendly and engaging. I would recommend that he work on this as a server.

The ambience here is fun and unique. Check out the bathrooms so fun! We were seated immediately near the jazz band. Our server was terrific. Very attentive without hovering. Music was not so loud that you could not have a conversation which was great! The Aztec bowl and the Earth bowls are fantastic. A great mix of veggies and grains, and you can add shrimp, chicken or beef or go totally vegan. Yum! I plan on going back.

Felt like a NYC jazz lounge, the décor is appealing and the music acts on their calendar are the best in New England -Toni Lynn, Hopkins, Richter. Menu was a bit under-whelming, my grilled artichoke app was disappointing. A few (3) small pieces of artichoke in a red sauce - blah. Give me a whole or half artichoke for the prices. The biggest dislike was buying a glass of wine by the ounce! It's a horrible idea and a "bean counter" created that concept - not a hospitality person. the least inexpensive wine by the bottle was a white wine for $64. That's ridiculous! I'd be more than happy to consult on your wine/beverage program ;) Also, let servers know - serve from the left, remove plates from the right. Will be back for the music!

Many times have eaten at the bar but this was first time at a table at Beat Hotel. I knew from dining at Beehive that there is a lot of attention to turning tables over but management must be really intense here because with regularity drinks at the bar and food on the table gets cleared before dish/glass is empty.

Since Beat Hotel is the sister restaurant to Beehive, we had high expectations for the food and service. Although the music was great, the food and service were terrible. After sitting for about 15 minutes, a waitress finally came over and asked for our drink orders.. I ordered the Faroe Island Salmon Aztec Bowl, while my friend ordered the Grilled Colorado Lamb Steak. My salmon came out pink and raw..completely inedible, while my friend's well-done steak was still fairly rare. The waitress offered to "re-heat" my salmon, while my friend begrudgingly ate the steak as is. After my friend was done with her steak, the waitress finally returned with my salmon. Definitely would not come back to eat here!

Everyone raves about Beat Hotel and Beehive, but I think both restaurants are overrated. I had pancakes, which were good expensive at $14 with no sides. My friend had a hamburger and the meat was not fresh. Other friend had turkey hash, which lacked flavor. Finally cappuccino cost $4.50 for a 4 ounces cup. I had to ask several times for a refill on water and search for the waiter.

A perfect Saturday evening out. Took my husband and teenaged son for their first outing (my second). Service was right on as were all of our food items. From being greeted at the street level and having the staff downstairs already waiting for us to the eclectic/romantic vibe and live music, Beat Hotel "wowed" me. I can not be more pleased with my experience. Making reservations probably helped a ton, since the restaurant quickly picked up speed around 8PM. The noise level was moderate, just enough music to whisk you away into your evening, but not too much that you can't have a conversation. The environment and decor was phenomenal - probably one of my favorite parts. Also, for being a high end restaurant, the food portions were decent and I was pleasantly surprised. The waitstaff was attentive and prompt. This is a must go if you are in the Boston/Cambridge area - dinner or just drinks!

We went for the music but stayed for dinner. I grew up right down the road from Harvard Square, but this was a new experience. I assume this restaurant is relatively new. What a wonderful find. The place was completely packed on a Wednesday night to include the restaurant and bar. The music was outstanding and the food was good too. The appetizers were excellent accompanied by a nice selection of wine and local beer. A fun place. Greek music played while we dined near the stage. How great!! This was my second time at this restaurant, and the service was completely different (I think it was just our waitress). The first 1/3 of the dining experience, our waitress was attentive and good. After appetizers, we did not see the waitress until we had asked two other waitress's and the hostess for our check. We had a birthday in our group and told the hostess before we sat down to do something for it. She made a call (assume it was to the kitchen) and said it was all set. Nothing materialized in the front. The bus staff was actually quite good however. The "Greek Beat" menu consisted of 4 additional items. Two of which were straight off of the normal menu. Hardly impressive. A proffesional cameraman was in our way the entire time.

I came here with a huge party of 9 (myself included) for a friend's brithday on July 3rd. We were basically kept waiting at the bar area until everyone shows up in the party to be seated (according to the hosts, they can seat at least 6 or 7 of whoever showed up first). The layout of the restaurant is very colorful and artsy, a bit bohemian mixed in with that hipster vibe. The highlight of the dining was the live jazz music playing from the band. It was relaxing and nice to listen to. We had great service, but the food could use less salt in my opinion. I got the Mussels and Frites (great fries, but salty broth), and most of the food (except for few) were seasoned too heavy with salt. Otherwise, Beat Hotel is still worth checking out!

Beat Hotel is a gem - a beautiful bohemian oasis in the strip mall that has become Harvard Square of late. The menu is fantastic - rivaling it's sister restaurant The Beehive (located in the South End of the City). Per our (fantastic) waitresses' suggestion, my friend and I tried their TO DIE FOR Banana Coffee Cake with whipped butter. SO DELICIOUS. Their cocktails are to die for, including the Violet Sky and the Bloody Mary. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and everyone had a sense of humor, which is rare in the stuffy, uptight area known at Harvard Square. Beat Hotel is fantastic for weekend brunch, post-work cocktails and a full on special dinner. Bravo!

The brunch menu is unique and the food is phenomenal (banana bread with honey butter is to DIE for), but the highlight of my brunch experience was the service. We had a big group of 10 people and the servers went above and beyond to give us a great experience. Not only was our table server wonderful and timely, but the manager stopped by and - the highlight - the chef came by for a little conversation. I LOVE when chefs do this at restaurants, but it's rare and quite a treat when it happens. Finally, the atmosphere was really wonderful. Loved the decor and the soft jazz during brunch. I can tell this will become a go-to for when friends visit from out of town. I'll definitely be back!
