We dined here on a recent cold, Sunday night. Despite the "school night" timing, the place was hopping with loud, live music and much fun. The food-- while not showstopping-- was tasty.

The service was great. The music so-so. The food uneven. Not a surprise, considering that the Saturday night we were at Beat Hotel, Harvard had just beat Yale. The bar was packed with students still learning to hold their liquor and behave in public. But that was no excuse for my hamburger, which was an unholy mess. I know it can be better because I've had it a few times before and it was arguably the best burger this side of the river.

I have been here and to beehive a few times and the Food seemed rushed prepared. The English muffin for my eggs Benedict was rock hard hollandaise sauce was cold and the egg was in between. Same with the other dishes at my table. I really want to like these places because the ambiance is fun but the food is just not up to par.

We went here for my brother's birthday and it did not disappoint! They sat us at a great corner table right by the jazz music. Wine and food were both amazing. The ingredients were fresh and local and they did a great spin on traditional dishes. My brother is a big foodie who lives in New York City and goes out to eat a lot. He was VERY impresed with the restaurant and especially the service. He noticed subtle things the waiters did, like bring out the ladies' meals before the men's. Very classy, fun place with a great atmosphere. One of the best dining experiences I have had during my three years living in the area. I can't wait to eat here again!

  • Brunch - Party of 5

Came here for brunch with a group of five. We were seated right away once each member of our party was present. The decor and feel of this restaurant is amazing. It would be nice to go in the evening and hear a band play. We came on a Saturday when they do a jazz brunch. The volume of the music was relatively low, which was fine since you were able to talk to the people next to you. I ordered the omelet and asked for egg whites. Unfortunately, they did not give me egg whites, but I didn't make a fuss about it to the waiter since it's not that big of a concern. The omelet did seem to have a lot of butter, but overall it was very good. My other friend had the short-rib eggs benedict and she loved it. The service was decent. It would be nice if they came around the tables more often to check if anyone needed more water/coffee/anything else. Overall, it was very good and I would highly recommend it. You should be fine to go to the restaurant without reservations for brunch on Saturday.

We got there before the jazz combo set up so we didn't get to listen to all the live music, but we still really enjoyed the ambiance as we ate. We both really liked the layout and decor of the space as well as the noise level - we went for a 6 pm dinner and never had to raise our voices to be heard - my favorite thing for a date spot!

Upon entering The Beat Hotel I could tell we were in for a pleasant evening as we were greeted with an electric vibe and warm colors. The staff was pleasant and we did not feel rushed. The food is simply wonderful. We were still talking about our meal the next morning. Through the night we treated with music from the Julien Kasper Band who were fantastic! The Beat Hotel will definitely get our business again.

Met a friend here for a last minute dinner, the food was fantastic - get the duck! Great wine selection as well. We were there for an early dinner so we missed the live music that went on later in the night, which was a bit of a bummer. But we will be back for sure.

I have been here three times and each time the food is delicious. The ambiance, service and food are wonderful and I recommend this place! For some reason they always try and seat me as close to the stage (and live music) as possible. If you want to be able to have a conversation with the people you're dining with, request to be seated in the back part of the dining room. Even there, it's a little loud.

I go here a lot, especially for brunch. I decided to go in for dinner. The menu has many options and it accommodates many diets. My vegan friend has no issues getting some food. We weren't overly hungry, so we ordered a bunch of appetizers. The food was very good, and Beat Hotel is decent with their portions. You will not be hungry afterwards. The ambiance is great, it is more romantic and loungy. There's always good music in the background, when there's not a band playing. Tables are cozy, and you can carry a conversation easily. Every time I go, there is live jazz playing, and service is always good. Cocktails are tasty and everything in the menu is reasonably priced.

I love this restaurant and come often for drinks and food. The service is always attentive, friendly, and fun. The music is well curated and fantastic. The food is delicious. Only not pick is the whole leaves of romaine in the salad but otherwise, flawless food. Drinks are well made and the bartenders are easily able to go off menu and create your favorite cocktail. Overall, this has established itself as my go-to place in Harvard Square.

I went for October fest so hectic as is, our waitress was busy and somewhat forgetful. My first glass had lipstick stains and she mistakenly put a beer on our bill. I was in a pretty good mood and can understand the frenzy but the lipstick marks were a little weird--neither the bartender nor the waitress noticed them before sending the drink out to the table.

Took my visiting parents here for brunch on a Sunday. They have live jazz music, which is a nice touch, and the decor is distinctive without veering into tacky. At the helpful suggestion of our server, we got the grilled coffee cake to split-- do not attempt this on your own! It is a 5" cube of delicious, buttery cake. Incredible, but not for the faint of heart (valves). We also shared the buffalo cauliflower, which is the closest I've gotten to wings since going vegetarian, and really quite good. I also split the spinach lasagne with my S.O.--tasty but nothing unusual. Splitting those three items was more than enough food. Parents split a hummus sandwich and lentil soup, which they said was good. (I loved the tureens the soup came in)

The Beat Hotel was fun for our party of 9. The decor was terrific, the food was different & excellent, and the waitstaff very knowledgeable & helpful. My one complaint was the wine. Although a cool concept to have 'wine on tap', it was just too expensive & the portions were too small for this price point restaurant. A glass of wine for $14 is fine, but I didn't read the fine print that it was 5 oz. There is nothing more annoying than having a small pour in a nice restaurant. A carafe was 12.5 oz. With a large party, we had to keep bugging the waiter for more. We are not big drinkers, but I felt like I never really had a glass of wine. Other than that, the food was inventive & delicious and we had a good time.

Acoustics in the space were surprisingingly good. Despite a band and a packed restaurant, the noise level was not an issue.

I was totally surprised by this restaurant. Had no idea it was so vast. It might seat more people than any other restaurant in Cambridge/Boston! The only thing I caution you about is that if you are seated by the stage, it will make conversation extremely challenging. Luckily, there was another table available than the one they had reserved from our group of 5. So, if you do make reservations and you want to be able to talk, you should mention you'd like to be seated away from the stage!

Our first visit to The Beat Hotel; really enjoyed the music which did not overwhelm us and we were 3 tables from the stage. We shared the Bohemian Platter which was a refreshing take on the traditional mezze. For dinner we had the Thai Bowl and the Earth Bowl. We both agreed the Thai bowl was by far the more interesting dish, with a smooth curry combination and an abundance of vegetables. The waiter recommended we order the shrimp to go with it, and that turned out to be an excellent choice. The Earth Bowl was a bit bland and pedestrian, and needs some type of sauce to provide interest. The service was attentive but did not hover; the waiter was knowledgeable about the wines. We will definitely return!
