I went for October fest so hectic as is, our waitress was busy and somewhat forgetful. My first glass had lipstick stains and she mistakenly put a beer on our bill. I was in a pretty good mood and can understand the frenzy but the lipstick marks were a little weird--neither the bartender nor the waitress noticed them before sending the drink out to the table.

The caramel banana coffee cake was absolutely wonderful and probably one of the best ones I've ever had. I followed with the bowl Azteca which was both delicious and a healthy dining option. Also managed to sneak a bite in of a friend's omelette as well as the fish tacos. There whole group was satisfied and we are definitely headed back soon.

Took my visiting parents here for brunch on a Sunday. They have live jazz music, which is a nice touch, and the decor is distinctive without veering into tacky. At the helpful suggestion of our server, we got the grilled coffee cake to split-- do not attempt this on your own! It is a 5" cube of delicious, buttery cake. Incredible, but not for the faint of heart (valves). We also shared the buffalo cauliflower, which is the closest I've gotten to wings since going vegetarian, and really quite good. I also split the spinach lasagne with my S.O.--tasty but nothing unusual. Splitting those three items was more than enough food. Parents split a hummus sandwich and lentil soup, which they said was good. (I loved the tureens the soup came in)

The Beat Hotel was fun for our party of 9. The decor was terrific, the food was different & excellent, and the waitstaff very knowledgeable & helpful. My one complaint was the wine. Although a cool concept to have 'wine on tap', it was just too expensive & the portions were too small for this price point restaurant. A glass of wine for $14 is fine, but I didn't read the fine print that it was 5 oz. There is nothing more annoying than having a small pour in a nice restaurant. A carafe was 12.5 oz. With a large party, we had to keep bugging the waiter for more. We are not big drinkers, but I felt like I never really had a glass of wine. Other than that, the food was inventive & delicious and we had a good time.

Huge portions but unlike a more traditional brunch place where quality is foresaken for quantity, the Beat serves delicious food. They mix traditional with exotic very well. Thoroughly enjoyed it. A bit more pricey than other laid back brunches, but worth it. Live music even at 10am on a Saturday.

My son and daughter-in-law had been here before, so when I was looking for a good place to reunite with my cousins, he recommended it. Funky atmosphere. Food was great. I had the Azteka Bowl with steak. Not a mixed up "stew" but we'll assembled collection of ingredients. There was a band playing but the sound level was great. Acoustics in the space were surprisingingly good. Despite a band and a packed restaurant, the noise level was not an issue.

I was totally surprised by this restaurant. Had no idea it was so vast. It might seat more people than any other restaurant in Cambridge/Boston! The only thing I caution you about is that if you are seated by the stage, it will make conversation extremely challenging. Luckily, there was another table available than the one they had reserved from our group of 5. So, if you do make reservations and you want to be able to talk, you should mention you'd like to be seated away from the stage!

Our first visit to The Beat Hotel; really enjoyed the music which did not overwhelm us and we were 3 tables from the stage. We shared the Bohemian Platter which was a refreshing take on the traditional mezze. For dinner we had the Thai Bowl and the Earth Bowl. We both agreed the Thai bowl was by far the more interesting dish, with a smooth curry combination and an abundance of vegetables. The waiter recommended we order the shrimp to go with it, and that turned out to be an excellent choice. The Earth Bowl was a bit bland and pedestrian, and needs some type of sauce to provide interest. The service was attentive but did not hover; the waiter was knowledgeable about the wines. We will definitely return!

I've been going to the Beat regularly since it opened. Great food & a fun bar scene! Big fan of the Buffalo Cauliflower and the Tuna Spring Roll. Two excellent appetizers (if I'm with a small group sometimes we just get multiple orders of each!). Many other fantastic options on the menu. I also like the bowls. The beer selection is a little limited, but what they do have is good.

Went to the Beat Hotel with my fiancee and her friends for the Burlesque theme night. It was quite a show indeed. The wait staff were all dressed up and in the spirit of the event, the venue, although too loud for my taste, was energetic and vibrant and the performances themselves were great! My only complaint was that no specials were done even though they were advertised. In any case, I really liked this experience and look forward to going back soon!

We arrived on time for our reservation and were told they would text us when our table was ready, which turned out to be 15 minutes. Disappointing. Also disappointing that we could not see the stage at all from our table and were told there were no other tables available. The whole point of reserving was to be able to see the stage show.

We had a good meal and delicious, but pricey wine on a Saturday night at the Beat Hotel. The host who sat us was unfriendly and difficult to say the least, trying to place a group of 5 (who had reserved for a special occasion) at a 4-seat table with a chair at the end. When we asked for a larger table she was cold and unfriendly. Our seat did get changed but it was a poor start. The service at our table was decent - although overall the staff attitudes felt false and edgy at best.

We visited The Beat for our anniversary dinner based on recommendations from a friend. What a mistake. The server was nice, but everything else was a disappointment. The food was pretty expensive for such bland, ubiquitous offerings. The drinks were too sweet and sugary and the beer tasted like soap. The floor manager was lurking around every table, and the moment we left he jumped on it saying, "601 is open" - we barely left the seat before he pounced on it! And there were a lot of empty tables in the restaurant, so it wasn't like they needed it for a reservation. We just felt like cogs in a bland machine. Listen, it's hard to disappoint me but The Beat did it.

First time we went here, everything was great. Since then, I've been back 5 times includes last night and each time was terrible. Food is lukewarm and soggy and frequently poorly prepared. Wine has been undrinkable - really awful swill each time (last night finally ordered cocktail instead which was fine). Place is too noisy - even without the live music, you have to yell to be heard and everyone at our table was hoarse by night's end. Lastly, this place is actually ignoring the "full faith and credit" clause, Article IV, Section 1 of our Constitution by denying alcohol service to MIDDLE AGE PEOPLE WITH OUT OF STATE ID! I believe this is actually ILLEGAL, according the MA FAQ page on what is acceptable proof of age to purchase alcohol...

Server was knowledgeable about the food but kept disappearing for long amounts of time. A drink was spilled and other servers needed to help us clean it up. When our waiter finally came back we asked for a replacement drink and the waiter said he "Needed to ask" if he could get us another. It took about 20 minutes to just get drinks. We got to the table at 8pm on a Friday night and music didn't play at all until 10pm. Nice food and atmosphere but I expected much better service.
