My boyfriend and I came here late
on a Tuesday night. It was nice and quiet for a romantic weeknight date. The food was amazing! The prix fixe menu was such a great deal! You can get a 3 course dinner for $20 and have the option of a bottle of the house red (or white) wine for only $15. The waitress was also very nice and attentive. Overall a wonderful dining experience."

Good value. Great charcuterie
(above average, delicious). We brought our own wines, so didn't get to feel out their wine list. We got green beans as a side which was good. I was disappointed the main dishes. I had the Rabbit (hash style with Polenta) and it was tasteless. I love rabbit and I love polenta so I am not sure how this went wrong. I'll give this place another try, because I feel like this was just an off dish/day, but I won't be rushing back to do that."

The food at Beast and the Hare was
delicious. I enjoyed the unique flavors and extensive menu offerings. My non-food experience was only okay in that I found the service somewhat inattentive and poorly trained (e.g., took a very long time to come back and take our orders; wanted to clear my plate when I was in the act of reaching for one of the crostinis on it and clearly not finished). If that doesn't bother you, then TOTALLY go for it. The meal was worth it, and the quaint setting was charming."

The Beast and the Hare has an
interesting menu that includes smoked meats, fish and rabbit. Salads and main courses are a reasonable portion size, not the over-the-top giant portions found in many places. The wait staff was very patient while we took our time deciding and kept checking in with us. Everyone was pleased with their choices, especially the rabbit, so hard to find when eating out."

marrow, octopus salad, gnudi, pork
chop and beignets were to die for!!! so delicious. never had the marrow like they did it but loved it. bones were sliced in half lengthwise and i think they were under a broiler. however they were done was great. also served with green salsa. not the regular salsa but a delicious blend of shallots, herbs and a vinaigrette which i could have eaten a large bowl of...so yummy. the gnudi were heavenly. ricotta and i don't know what else but absolutely delicious. octopus salad was really good with potatoes and greens. pork chop was very good. cooked perfectly and served with israeli couscous cooked with red cabbage. yum yum. beignets were out of this world. great server, will definitely be back."

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed
eating here. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. We started with the smashed avacodo toast and boquerones (spanish anchovies). Then I had the rabbit ragu and my girlfriend had the local King Salmon. And we finished off with the French Quarter beignets with orange caramel. Everything was fantastic. The only reason that we didn't give it five stars is because the ragu portion was a little on the small side (I left feeling hungry); and the while we enjoyed the glasses of wine we ordered they were a little on the small side too. Otherwise everything was perfect."

I"m normally not a stickler for
ambiance, as I like a lively situation. But if you're seated by the door, it's rough. There's no good way to wait for a table, even with a reservation. It's a little hard to maneuver in and out of the tables, like they're just a touch too close together. I was constantly aware of what was going on around me, and it was a real fear to get other people's food on my clothing (and vice versa) when getting to/from the table. Our server was kind, but seemed a little overwhelmed. Details just got a little overlooked; out of water, wine took a while to get, etc. But the food was pretty good. I wanted to try the beignets, but they were out. I would come again, but I doubt it would be on my regular rotation. "

We had a horrible experience here.
I made a reservation for dinner with my 11 month infant. I called them to make sure they had a high chair, they told me they had a booster chair. This was a booster that clamped on to the table. I was nervous but I put my baby in it and it seemed ok. Suddenly the chair unhooked from the table and my baby fell flat on her head on on the floor!! My baby started crying and we went out to calm her. I came back in and screamed at everyone! How do you offer your customers this "booster chair"?? This is a hazard and I thank my lucky stars because worse things could have happened to my baby but I will NEVER go back here again Get a real high chair or when someone specially requests 1 tell them you don't have it!"

I was hoping for espresso drinks,
but they only had Equator drip coffee: not great. Tea bags didn't go far & not memorable. Eclectic combo of various sized mugs on the table was cute, but my friend got stuck with a small one & they weren't prompt about refills. Asked for salt & pepper; they brought completely empty shakers & it took too long to get the waiter's attention to let him know that there was nothing in them. Beignets with salted caramel sauce were great, deviled eggs only ok with a sort of cajun spice to them, the Sicilian was good with nicely poached eggs & a green salsa on top, though not enough and still needed salt, pepper, and hot sauce. House made bacon ok, a bit sweet/chewy (vs. crispy) for my taste. I'm not racing back."

Food very good. However, waitstaff
inattentive. Actually saw them on their phones while we were waiting and waiting for bread and other things we asked for. So noisy. Great if 25 and drinking a lot and your average American who likes to go to restaurants and be able to talk as loudly as they want at all times. Cacophony."

The Beast and Hare in an
interesting find in a city full of interesting restaurants. Unfortunately, although interesting, it somehow misses the mark. The menu items are slightly unusual but not very satisfying. Nor are they substantial enough to warrant the price. The wait staff was entusiastic, friendly and professional. The atmosphere was lively and energetic but the food itself just didn't work. I would not recommend this restaurant for any occasion. "

Our party started w the marrow,
salad and table olives. We then had the burger, lasagnatte and bone-in pork chop. All were fine, and solid. The ice cream trio and beignets were OK too. Again, nothing objectionable, just not that impressive. Service was a bit rough around the edges. A nice place for a meal, if you are in the neighborhood."

We ate at 6:00pm so it was still
early enough to get really good service. Once it got more crowded, we had to wait a little for dessert and the bill. The starters were great - pei mussels were fantastic and no complaints against the bone marrow. I was a little disappointed with the entrees - porkchop with wild farro seemed brined in a really salty brine and the farro seemed undercooked and chewy/hard. The rabbit ragut seemed to have underseasoned polenta (almost like grits). The honey lavender panna cotta was a great treat to end with - I wish I ordered 2! I'd come back here for the starters and dessert."

Same place, atmosphere,service,
but somehow not as good as last time. Great starters, good to really good burger. Problem? The ragu was watery, like soup and not rich as it was before. Two of our four diners ordered that dish. Too bad. I would go back for a third time, but my wife says no. That means we will not go back."

I was excited to try this place
but probably won't be back. I ordered the lasagnette which had duck ragu. Unfortunately, there was very little sauce and what I was delivered was just a pile of noodles with a scant drop, seriously 3 tablespoons worth, of sauce and meat. I tried my boyfriend's dish, the pre fixe/house special for the evening, some kind of olive pasta with tomato sauce that regrettably was not much better. The noodles were clumped together and it was like eating ravioli....however this was a flat pasta... Both of us feel like we got the bottom of the barrel servings. Additionally the house red that came with pre fixe was almost undrinkable. On a positive note, our waitress was great, regrettably our food was not."

Went there with 4 people. We
started with two orders of the beet and mozzarella arancini. I had the lasagnette, one person got the rabbit and two people got the mussels/fries. Wine list was a little pricey so we stuck to wine by the glass and beer. The place is small, but we didn't have to wait for a table. Service was great as well. We never had to ask for another drink or signal the server the entire meal."

We used a Living Social deal but
were allowed to be flexible and try the whole menu. The home made charcuterie selection is one of the best I have tasted (and my dad was a butcher who made his own meats and pates). Be sure to try a selection, especially the duck and pate. Mussels were sweet and perfect with the fries, whole branzini was cooked perfectly but next time I'd ask for the sauce on the side. Generous portions so we ended up taking some food home. The pickle plate is a treat, the beignets with caramel, blossom sauce an ideal end to meal. Great staff, did not rush us. Nice Russian River wine for $48. Cheaper wines available. Large central table for parties. Kids were made welcome there and didn't intrude on the experience."

Overall a worthwhile dining
experience. There are many who are far more qualified to review this restaurant than I, and my impression is that the chef was experimenting with a target diner in mind whose palate is more refined than mine. I did enjoy that sometimes an initial bitterness gave way to interesting flavors. When we left, we asked our server to call us a cab. When it arrived, a couple of people tried to jump into it, but she chased them off. Go server!"

What a great restaurant. We were
blown away by the quality of both the food and the service. The bone marrow was outstanding, as was the charcuterie. The wine list, too - short, but hit every mark as far as I'm concerned. The dry riesling was a perfect accompaniment to the meal, and I was thrilled with this recommendation by our server. My only complaint would be the tight quarters and overall noise level, but what can you expect from a popular, surprisingly affordable restaurant of this quality? Our experience was fantastic on pretty much every level - I HIGHLY recommend this place!"

marrow were my favorite. We had the travelzoo deal, 2 appetizers and 2 entrees plus one dessert for 50 bucks. Totally worth it. But they have specials where you can order 2 entrees for 25. The service was excellent, definitely going there again to try out the rest of the menu"

Beast and the Hare is a
comfortable neighborhood restaurant that I tried out largely because of the 1000 pt. Opentable bonus. The deviled eggs were a good start, bright and flavorful. The duck bolognese pasta was even more flavorful but the portion was pretty stingy. Would have been happier with tad more pasta. The burger was juicy but not very memorable in spite of the cheese and bacon that was also piled on. Thankfully, the service was warm, friendly and attentive."

Was surprised that one quarter of
the menu was chacuterie. For main food options there was 2 pastas and 3 meats with one of them being a burger. There were 3 salad options but at $9 each that seemed pricy. Kale salad was grilled and unusual but over dressed so ask for dressing on the side. Did love the rabbit over polenta and would go back for that. Just don't go with vegetarians or non game or non pork eaters."

I've had a couple of great brunch
experiences here but dinner was only so-so, and overpriced for what we got. So good for a drinks and snack, but not a good choice for dinner. Service good, but too overt -- we needed more quiet time but she was clearing our plates as soon as the last bite was off. That said, go for an early cocktail and snack before the show, or after work relaxed happy hour -- only because the ambiance is so chill"

Service wasn't great and they
