A word from Bear Republic Brewing Company
Located in Sonoma County, you might wonder how a brewery in the heart of California"s wine country could make such distinctively flavorful beers. With awards too plentiful to list, the Bear's creations are too good to miss.

Founded in 1995, the Norgrove family and Bear Republic Brewing Company strive to foster a sense of loyalty and tradition from eras gone by. From the humble beginnings of home brewing, to the demanding process of commercial brewing, came the realization that to produce the distinctive flavors and aroma we found appealing required the founding of our own Brewery and Brewpub.

The Norgrove Family invites you to come by for good, healthy food and our award winning ales and lagers. Located on the corner of Healdsburg's historic downtown square, our family environment guarantees a good time for all!

Diner Reviews
  • "Service was also quite bad - it appeared to be understaffed. Perhaps we came on the wrong night? Our server was super friendly and apologetic, my food was not very good at all. I left hungry and left most of my food - at least the fries were good!"

  • "We decided to eat here because of the beer and didn't have high expectations about the food. We were very pleasantly surprised by the deliciousness of the burgers. I had the crab louis which was also really good. The beer was good, of course, and I was the designated driver so enjoyed their draft rootbeer. The location near the square is terrific, and I imagine it can get pretty jammed on a weekend. Our only criticism is that our party arrived between shifts so we had periods when no one was paying attention to us. The two servers we had were each very good however."

  • "BRBC is a great spot for dinner or lunch, or for just a beer and a snack. The beers are good, if you're a beer drinker. And, to my surprise, the garlic fries were some of the best I've ever had--not overly garlicky the way most places make them, these were garlicky enough with a healthy dose of parmesan and savory seasonings. In the afternoon and early evening, the place is very kid-friendly, and the outdoor patio makes for a very pleasant dining experience."

  • "We started off with excellent beer and asked to start with a pretzel, the server kept asking if we were ready to order dinner and then never brought our pretzel and then disappeared once we ordered our food, leaving us with empty beer glasses. Anyway, the food was decent, the beer was delicious, but the servers clearly are just trying to move people through...the place was empty though..."

  • "The only real highlights of this place are the beers and the patio dining, which is really pleasant. The food has gone downhill in quality."

  • "Food was mediocre to bad. Very unimpressed. The beer is the star and is excellent. However, I would absolutely not go to eat again."

  • "We dined on the open air patio, which was enjoyable, as it faced a sidewalk shopping area away from the street. We tried three of the Brewing Company's individual beers, and even the one described as low hops to my taste was very hoppy. We had a lager and a nut brown ale, and NO IPA - wonder how hoppy that would have been? Food was above average for a Brewing Company. The restaurant itself was very open, different levels with good separation of dining areas. Service was prompt and competent considering the patio crowd - not many folks inside on this beautiful day."

  • "We booked last minute Mother's Day Brunch reservations for a group of 10. The Brunch menu was nice and the food was very good. The service, especially given the busy Mother's Day holiday was excellent. We so appreciated the attentive, pleasant service."

  • "I've been here several times in the past. Food is OK, and I love their Racer 5. We were seated about 10 minutes ahead of a party of 8 people. There were only about 10 other people in the restaurant at the time, not a busy night. There were waiters standing around doing nothing. It took about 15 minutes for our waitress to come to our table and even get our drink order. Another 20 minutes goes by and we finally get our drinks and order our food. We ordered about 10 minutes ahead of the party of 8. They get their food in about 15 minutes, while we are sitting there for 40 MINUTES with empty glasses because no one has come by to ask if we needed refills. Finally get our food and it was dried out and cold. Never am I coming back to this place."

  • "We ate here for restaurant week. The food was delicious. The Chili vinaigrette and stuffed jalapenos were out of this world. They were busy yet attentive. We really enjoyed sharing a beer flight and discussing what we enjoyed about each beer. That was a really great way to try a lot without over drinking. Only issue was a patron at another table who didn't seem to understand how much his voice carried. We sat outside and it was comfortable at night with the heaters, but his voice echoed off the patio. Probably would have been a problem if we had the kids, but for date night it was fine."

  • "Great food and beer list. Had no problems seating our group of 8 people. Sports bar vibe yet lots of cool local flavor also. Will swing by again the next time we're in the area."

  • "The food and the beer were of course awesome!! But the real treat was the server Jenny. We had just been to another brewery in the area for lunch and hit Bear Republic for dinner. Jenny was smiley, energetic, friendly, accommodating and really knowledgeable about the products and menu items. We'll definitely be back!"

  • "Our server was so inattentive I was frustrated. She spent far too much time chatting with another server and I finally had to ask for the bill. I won't return."

  • "Amazing beer selection. Sometimes pub food can get a little boring, but the food was pretty good. Lots of regulars in there and the bartenders were very nice, helpful and weren't snobby about our beer questions."

  • "The place was hard to find because the GPS coordinates were bogus. The street number did not match the location, which was down a side "allee". The food was very good, but I was disappointed that the "wild game chili" was unavailable. Bear REpublic makes interesting brews that are widely available in other areas of California. That alone is worth the trip. I had the "trio" of sausages while my wife had the Santa Fe Chicken salad. Both were tasty and well prepared. We had to work to get the attention of the server when it came time for the check."

  • "If you're in Healdsburg and you're in the mood for a burger/pub food and a beer, this is a great place to go. Not only great food but also home to the famous "Racer 5" and "Red Rocket Ale." It does have a bar scene around sports game times which elevates the noise levels occasionally. Otherwise its even a great place to take the family."

  • "Hostess and waiter couldn't have been nicer. Waiter very helpful in selecting gluten-free meal. One of us really enjoyed his burger, one thought hers was so-so. Ales were good, wine nothing special. Still, will go back for casual, cool atmosphere and friendly staff."

  • "We went during restaurant week. Service was friendly but spotty. They seemed to have trouble seating a group of 5. The burgers were very good, the restaurant week specials were just OK. The beer selection was good."

  • "We frequent Bear Republic because we are locals (Cloverdale) and we love the beer, food is OK. We were there on Feb 27,2012 to participate in the Sonoma Restaurant Week. The chicken was dry as were the mashed potatoes. The vegetables in the pot pie and the chicken dish were not even done enough to be called al dente! If you want that even week to be successful, you need to do better than that for dinner. Even a burger would have been better. The dessert was fabulous!"
