A word from Beachside Forno
In West Vancouver's Ambleside neighbourhood, Beachside Forno offers a stylish, relaxed space overlooking the Vancouver skyline, Pacific Ocean, and the Stanley Park rainforest. The "landmark" building has long been a neighbourhood favourite with its large sunny patio and airy interior. It's an ideal spot for a friendly lunch, a romantic cocktail, gatherings for family and friends, and to watch the summer sunset.

Executive Chef Jason Harris has designed the menu around the forno oven and west coast location, inspiring casual dishes of made-from-scratch pizzas, pastas, salads, and the freshest seafood. The hand crafted cocktails and a great wine list make it THE place to go in Ambleside.

Great server , very pleasant and personable.(young man with beard). Food was v. good and it was superb that the server was so accommodating with our 11 month old - he helped with the stroller, etc... The table worked well and both of us enjoyed our first experience. thanks again. Lis Petersen-Cutler

The new fall 2012 seasonal menu was good - we had the corned beef, fish and chips, pasta and albacore tuna. Service was helpful but not intrusive and the dishes were delivered very quickly to our table. My only negative is that the restaurant had barely any background music so you could hear everyone's conversation as it was not a busy night.

We were diners that required very specific dietary items - the waitress and the kitchen bent over backwards to provide us with delicious and inventively appropriate items. With the view and their service, we had a most enjoyable evening.

Excellent service, decor was very modern but cozy. Food was fresh and tasty. Ceasar salad was crisp and had a delightful palette. Wasn't bogged down with heavy creamy dressing and had just the right amount, PLUS the croutons weren't soggy. Had the muscles and fries for dinner... Muscles broth a tad on the salty side... But not overwhelming. Only thing that surprised me was how empty the place was. But according to the server, the patio tends to be the popular choice and it was a bit cold that night. Server was also friendly and all of our food/drinks came out in a timely manner. Overall, was very pleased for my first visit. Wouldn't hesitate to come back again.

Over all this was a nice night out. I do have to admit the food wasn't all that good, but the ribs were outstanding.. we also had the fish and chip, the chips were great but the fish was a little on the fishy side. I mean it didn't taste as fresh as I thought it would. The service we had from the time we arrived until the time we left was fantastic, thank you for that.. But I will be honest, I'm not to sure if we'll be back..

Had brunch in the past and food was much better. Burger was dry, tough to finish and the fries were not great. I think they were sprinkled with paprika and there was a burned/bitter taste to them. They were also soggy when they arrived at the table. Fries come with the burger and mussels. The mussels were good, but have definitely had better at other restaurants for similar price. Other dishes ordered were fine, nothing amazing. For the same price point, better meals can be had elsewhere. The best feature of this restaurant is the view of Ambleside Beach in front of you, if you sit on the patio outside on a nice day. Don't look down as it is a parking lot below. It wasn't a good enough experience to rush back there unfortunately.

The waiter seemed rushed---wasn't too interested in serving us.He arrives with food that turned out to be barely edible. My friend had fish and chips---that were heavily spiced and looked unappetizing--she didn't like them. I had a salad nicoise--which I'm sure if presented in Nice would be immediately banned--It was petite with sprinkles of food? over the plate. My other freind had a pasta salad that was boring-non-descript--ho hum. No neither of us would return there.

Overall the experience was quite good. Our server never asked us if we wanted anything to drink though. He brought water and that was it! I had to ask a nice girl server later for more water, I don't know where he was. The food was good but not super. My chicken with caesar salad was not that great for and extra $6. The salad itself was lovely. My friend ordered halibut with salad instead of whatever it came with, she was very happy with her meal. My husband and Mom had the $10 lunch which was a fold over (forgot name!) and had chicken and tomato and maybe something else. It didn't look like something I would have liked! I'm sorry but it was my Birthday & I expected more! The server didn't say Happy Birthday either!

The inside of the restaurant is very open, yet holds on to an intimate ambiance. There is a nice patio that, on a nice day, would have a nice view of the beach and ocean. The mussels are delicious, the broth very flavorful and the fries were fresh, hot and had just the right amount of crispness. I found the risotto tasty, just a tad funnier than I prefer, but nice to eat. The servers were very polite, helpful and attentive. All in all a very good experience.

This food was tasty and well executed. We asked for bread with our salads and were charged $4 for 2 very tiny buns and 2 small pieces of grilled toast....really? Considering how few diners there were, the service was not very attentive. We had to ask to have our water refilled and were never offered a coffee refill. We had to flag our server down to get our bill. The patio is lovely in nice weather - otherwise sit at the front window and watch the action on Marine Drive.

Service was good. Our waitress very attentive. Not many are trained to pour wine during the meal, so that was a nice touch to our dinner on the patio. The patio tables/ chairs look cheap so they could use some redecorating out there. Food was tasty but not always attractive (duck chop salad). Overall, we had a nice dinner.

    Dined on 6/10/2012
This is the second time we've dined at Beachside. The first time we tried the Sunday dinner. They don't have their regular menu Sunday nights, instead the chef gets his inspiration and ingredients from the farmers market that is in their parking lot every Sunday, and he creates a new meal each Sunday - So creative and great to try if you're a foodie :) This time we had the brunch; I tried the seafood potato cake with hollondaise and side salad, and my boyfriend had the BELT. They make the buns (even hamburger buns) in house so it really took the breakfast up a few notches. Looking forward to going again for dinner on their patio. Great location!

Food was great. My brother had the risotta and the server suggested adding scallops. We all tasted it and it was heavenly. I had the salmon which is was good - I enjoyed the smoked salmon "hash". My husband had the chicken which was good but serving size a little small. We all shared a caesar salad and had the bread with the bacon butter which was inspired. Great wine recommendation (delicious Pinot Noir from California). Restaurant is lovely with nice view. Music was a little weird - sort of sounded like indie band night - not enjoyable. I am 43, my husband is 41 and my brother is 37 so we're not "too old" to appreciate great music. We will come again for sure.

Nice spot near the water but didn't act like they had a nice spot and thought it was all they needed. Food was well presented and cooked well, flat breads were nice, could've loaded them meatier (but then maybe the bread wouldn't hold :) Overall prices were right where they should be.
