  • "This is our favorite breakfast spot in Newport. The beignets are to die for! The atmosphere (right on the beach) is great. Make sure to make your reservations well ahead of your arrival date, and arrive early as they will only hold your table for a short time due to the large number of people who waiting for walk-up tables. It is a little pricey but worth it."

  • "This place was amazing. The location is exceptional, as it is in a prime spot (right on the beach, literally). Part of our group was late, but they still were able to accommodate us for when they arrived, although I would have been fine to wait because the beach is right there! We were sat at one of the tables in the front...which was perfect. The food, I ordered Chilaquilas. These were reaaallly good! Americanized, but really tasty regardless. Waiter was nice and attentive. We will definitely be coming back, as I would like to try their lunch and dinner menus (we were there for breakfast)."

  • "I frequent Beachcomber often always making sure I have reservations. My past visits have been a 10+. This time was not. The waiter was sarcastic and while trying to be funny was insulting! He didn't stop with one insult, he compounded it with a few more trying to be funny. When a friend (who is a waiter) stopped to say hi, the waiter somehow realized he needed to let up but by then it was too late, the damage was done. Since my overall experience was favorable (drinks, food, ambiance) I rated my overall "very good" and typically it's off the charts! :)"

  • "Made reservation weeks ahead of time for my husbands 68th birthday on May 27, requesting a front table. When we were called, we were directed to a long table in the back next to the bar. When I mentioned my reservation and the fact I requested a front table, the waiter did not seem to care. There was a table open in the front so I asked if we could move since I requested a front table in my reservation but was told that was for someone with a reservation. When I again told the waiter I had made a reservation weeks ago he did not seem to care. The table sat empty for one hour before someone came in and was seated in it. Because it was a Tuesday there was no one at all seated inside and the middle tables were also empty."

  • "It can take a while to get into the Beachcomber on the beach at Crystal Cove, but what a special treat it is. I booked for brunch and we ate breakfast styled items. Brunch was nice as the cool morning had warmed nicely in February to open up some of the canvas siding windows. Watch for the best weather and give it a shot. It is truly unique to its niche on the beach."

  • "I always know it is the beginning of the summer when I head down to Crystal Cove to enjoy good food, cocktails and beach atmosphere with my family and friends."

  • "The lunch menu was much better. We went for an early dinner to see the sunset and our meal wasn't as good as the times we have come for lunch. My boyfriends scallops were cold and my frutti di mare pasta was okay. The tacos and hamburgers from the lunch menu were much much better."

  • "We went to celebrate a team members last day in the office. We check in with the Host on duty to retrieve our table that was reserved and he would not seat us without one member of our team being present at check in. It would have been nice to know ahead of time that this was the They were going to give our table away when the Host agreed to seat us advising that the tardy member would not be allowed to join the party. After we all got sat, we "snuck" the fourth person to the table. We had no choice, the fourth member was paying the bill. Anyhow, once the server approached us the experience was amazing. The overall experience was great. We are glad we stayed and had the experience and did not let the Host from Hell ruin it."

  • "Excellent! Our 14 year old asks to go there regularly. We rarely make reservations. We prefer to enjoy the beach and walking around while we wait. We have never had to wait as long as they tell us. We love to take our friends and family there too."

  • "I love the beachcomber- the food is great, the ambiance can't be beat, and it's right on the sand. For breakfast & lunch, I've had a great time and even for dinner, while a bit pricey, I've very much enjoyed it. Unfortunately this time, there were some problems. In the summer they get rid of the temporary roof for the outdoor seating. This means that once the sun goes down, there is absolutely no wind protection (read: chilly) and more problematic, absolutely NO LIGHT. Literally the only light around was the single tiny candles on each table. While definitely romantic, it kills the mood a bit when you can't see what you are eating and have to use your phone as a flashlight to read the menu. Go before sunset in spring/summer."

  • "Made our reservation for a late lunch and had a great view of the ocean. Service was good; however, the food was excellent. Nice wine list and a great dessert list too! It's a little difficult to get to because you have to take a shuttle though once you get to the place and take a look at the view of the beach and ocean, you know that you have reached paradise! Enjoy...."

  • "The seafood at Beachcomber never disappoints (breakfasts/brunches are excellent too) and of course the view cannot be beat. We always love this spot but our server this time, Jesus, made the occasion even more wonderful. He was personable without being nosey, had a great sense of humor, made spot-on recommendations, and went the extra mile to assure our evening was a delight. Beachcomber is the bomb! And ask for Jesus as a server! You'll have a terrific evening."

  • "My son and I were in the Irvine area over the weekend. Our waiter at McCormick's suggested we have breakfast at the Beachcomber Café. He said is was the best breakfast in the area. It took us two days to get reservations but it was well worth it. The food was superb, atmosphere perfect overlooking the ocean and the staff professional. Definitely a treat."
