    Dined on 8/26/2014
  • "If you want to dine with friends at a beautiful seaside location, the Beachcomber is a great outdoor option. All the plates were well prepared (except the blueberries could be fresher) and the service was excellent."

  • "Unbelievable view, great service, outstanding food. Will definitely be going back!"
    Dined on 8/25/2014
  • "Food was delicious, atmosphere was awesome. If possible, make a reservation. When we were there the wait was over an hour without one! It's worth the wait though and the beach is right there."
    Dined on 8/23/2014
  • "The reservation people were extremely accommodating, as last minute we added one person (total of 3) and they gave us a "choice" outside table. We were extremely happy with the brunch and atmosphere of being at the beach."
    Dined on 8/23/2014
  • "I enjoy being near the ocean and you can't get any closer than the Beachcomber's deck on the sand on Crystal Cove. The food is very tasty and there is a nice selection. The wait staff are friendly and efficient. During the summer it can get a bit crowded, but for us natives it is a lovely place all year round. I always take visitors there and they always love it."

  • "The location is amazing and the food was awesome. Try the burger and clam chowder!"
    Dined on 8/17/2014
  • "Shared appetizers that were fabulous. Above average by the glass wines selections. Burgers for lunch are outstanding."
    Dined on 8/15/2014
  • "We had a great table, with our favorite waitress Melissa, and fabulous view of the ocean. Everyone raved about the food, this was definitely a good restaurant to take our daughter and grandchildren visiting from New York!"
    Dined on 8/15/2014
  • "The entire outdoor experience was just what we were looking for. The service was excellent, the food was good. I would go back again just for the scenic views and the beach."
    Dined on 8/14/2014
  • "It doesn't get much Bett for eating right on the sand. There aren't many restaurants where you can eat right on the sand. The beachcomber combines eating on the beach with delicious food. Make a reservation first or plan to wait an hour. Krystal waited on us so it was perfect!"
    Dined on 8/12/2014
  • "This is one of our favorite all time restaurants - right on the beach - and the food matches the view !!"
    Dined on 8/10/2014
  • "Beautiful location, wonderful ocean view, having breakfast while watching dolphins swim by. Breakfast was delicious, friendly staff, and great service. Next door to the Crystal Cove Cottages, great way to end our stay!"

  • "We had a great waitress who took care of all of us so well. Breakfast was delicious, we were all very happy. Thank you Beachcomber Cafe, we'll be back!"
    Dined on 8/9/2014
  • "We had a ladies' breakfast soon after they opened on a quiet Friday morning. As always, the view of the ocean is fabulous - matched only by the friend;y service and great food. We love having the beignets with our morning coffee!"

  • "My husband & I are from Encinitas. We took a short mini vacation to Newport Beach & discovered Beachcomber cafe, glad we did. It was very nice having lunch on the beach. Food, service & location was great. Unfortunately, our seats on outside patio were up againt the inside section of the cafe. We were unable to really experience the scenery or beach, since our view was obscured by tables & guests. We didn't compain since we live in a beach town. If I was from Iowa, I would have squawked."

  • "Reservations very hard to make and impossible to change or modify. Didn't care for my scallop dinner."
    Dined on 8/4/2014
  • "My wife and I love the Beachcomber when we can get a reservation. Great food, great view and attentive service. We'll be back after summer."
    Dined on 8/4/2014
  • "We thought the dinner menu was overpriced for the quality and amount of food. I've eaten at the Beachcomber Cafe many times and this time the food and service weren't up to par. The ice cream we ordered for dessert was half melted by the time spoons were brought to the table."
    Dined on 7/30/2014
  • "We were not informed that a shrimp sandwich would be spicy/very hot with the shrimp smothered in red pepper. I can't tolerate spicy. The wait staff was informed that diners should be informed before ordering that dishes may be hot due to red pepper or another strong seasoning. The dish was removed from our bill which we greatly appreciated. Overall, we love the Beachcomber Cafe and have recommended it to many friends."

  • "Another wonderful brunch at the beachcomber & Oscar was once again the best, even suggesting gluten free corn tortillas! And Allison was great seating us quickly!"
    Dined on 7/30/2014
  • "Interesting history and worth visiting- once. Food edible, view is directly out to the Pacific and not up/down the coast. Open table reservations a definite plus as waits can approach hours. Larger groups (>5) are going to be seated inside or along the rail which decreases experience exponentially. Take the walk from the parking lot down to the beach but invest the $1/person and tram back. Comp'd parking may be the best part of the deal."

  • "The service was very good. Location is great. The drinks were great. However the main course was over seasoned with salt. It also seemed that we were being rushed. Like lets get dinner over and move on."

  • "First time here but loved everything about it. Food, scenery, service, all very impressive..."

  • "The staff was remarkable. I felt like a VIP. It was the perfect lunch with sweetheart. We will be going back every chance we get!"
    Dined on 7/28/2014
  • "Love the ocean view from the restaurant....good selection of food. The staff took care of all details and service was excellent. I recommend making reservation before you go or expect to wait up to one hour for seating."
    Dined on 7/28/2014
  • "Breakfast the first day was great all around. Early Dinner last night was disappointing - service was awful and the food was just okay -- the expensive fillet had very little flavor. It wasn't very busy so that couldn't be the excuse for the attitude and lack of attention of staff."
    Dined on 7/28/2014
  • "our first time there was for dinner. the food, chilean sea bass and ribs were good but not great. we love to eat by the water so the ambience was very nice, but not worth the overall cost of the meal. the drinks were a little on the weak side."
    Dined on 7/27/2014
  • "We love it here. However this time even though we had reservation we had to wait 25 min. and then we didn't get a very good seat. It was a Friday night but we were there early and watched table after table just sit after they were done. Maybe there should be a hour and a half table limit on busy nights. It's a great place and people don't want to leave I get it."
    Dined on 7/25/2014
  • "The Beachcomber's location directly on the beach in a historical location is unbeatable, and the food rivals the location. We ate on the covered deck, where there are blankets and heaters to guard against the ocean breeze. Each entree was delicious; the service was outstanding. All in all, a typical wonderful experience at our favorite restaurant in Orange County."

  • "Good food, good service, great view. What more could you ask for?!?"
    Dined on 7/23/2014
  • "U can't beat the ocean view n sounds of the ocean especially at sunset but the food for diviner is poor. The food preparation belongs at Denny's or cocos for $30.00 entree why with such a commanding view / setting could they not do better"
    Dined on 7/17/2014
  • "Food was ok. The worst part was in order to get there by car you had to park in a lot across the highway, then take a shuttle bus that charges $1 a person. It drops you off at the beach entrance where you then have to walk about 200!yards to the restaurant. And for the food, it was ok. Nothing spectacular. The views were nice. And they have a blanket at every table which was cool."

  • "It was a surprise birthday lunch for my husband. We both had the best time we'd ever had, and enjoyed everything about it. Having lunch, sitting right there on the beach, it was breathtaking. After lunch, put our feet in the water, and took a walk along the ocean. Could not have been better...Can't wait to go again.."
    Dined on 7/17/2014
  • "The terrific location, on the sand at Crystal Cove, coupled with good food and service makes this a must visit place when we are at the beach. Brunch is our favourite time as the sun in a better position for beach/ocean watching. Every table on the deck has an umbrella. While it's operated by Ruby's, I find the food much better and menu more interesting than typical Ruby's. The eggs benedict served with rosemary potatoes was very good and well presented. The egg whites were firm, yolks sufficiently runny and hollandaise sauce tasty. They've added Beignets served with maple flavor syrup (9 small in an order), which were good, but don't compare with Cafe DuMond."

  • "We had breakfast....and it was delicious.....a great table....good service and the view was wonderful. We really enjoyed it."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "With the Pacific in view, I was delighted by the delicious creations from the kitchen. The menu choices were innovative, plating was pleasing to the eye, and the flavors were well-balanced. The service was terrrific."

  • "My daughter and I had a delicious lunch of fish and chips for lunch. The restaurant also sat us promptly- thank you!"
    Dined on 7/13/2014
  • "The restaurant was great. The food was good, service was fast and the view was beautiful, right on the water, but parking is a nightmare. You either park and take a shuttle or hoof it to the restaurant. I did not know that when I went, so arrived late to my reservation. Would be nice if the website outlined the parking situation. But was a good place to go."
