Diner Reviews
  • "The food is a little inconsistent, moderate prices"

  • "We were blown away by the fantastic sunset dinner . The value was unbelievable for the quality of the food and the service! We were so impressed we made another reservation for the very next evening and loved it again! We can't wait to eat there again on our next trip down to Pacific Grove. We want to thank the chefs for their delicious food, the owner for reopening this great restaurant at this most perfect location and to Alfredo our server who helped to make our dining experience one of the best we've ever had!"

  • "This restaurant is at Lover's Point. Their Sunset Suppers are the best! They offer 7 different full-sized dinners at $9.90 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. After that the dinners are full price. The service was perfect and the food was excellent. The Firecracker Shrimp appetizer is dynamite!!!! We had a nice table overlooking the ocean and the little beach below the restaurant. Definitely worth another visit! Make reservations though, they seem to fill up fast."

  • "The firecracker shrimp was very tasty and seasoned to perfection. The halibut was expertly prepared. Order medium rare. Finish with a lemon tart. All served with a great view!"

  • "We took Mom for her birthday for the early bird dinner. The dinner was good. Very good Caesar salad. I was disappointed no birthday desert like most restaurants."

  • "Wonderful at dusk. Charming and attentive service. My meal was warm not hot! Duck breast was tough needed a steak knife."

  • "The food was good view was good And they changed the time without much difficulty and I really appreciated it. Bad side was it was pretty noisy and crowd ed but considering the price and everything I would say it was good."

  • "Other than the notice level we would have say we enjoyed our meal very much. We went for the Early dinner and found the many selections refreshing from other early dinner menus. It was also a very nice view."

  • "We did the early bird menu - there were 4 of us. $9.99 each if seated by 5:30 and order by 6:00. Wine bottle was only $12.00. Salad and/or soup was only $2.90. Great price, great choices on the menu, and obviously beautiful view. Can't be beat for price and view. I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf. Big portion. Very good meal. My wife had sand dabs, not such a big portion as the meatloaf. Pork Tenderloin was the other couples choice. They enjoyed it. Everyone enjoyed the food."

  • "Enjoyed dining with friends in the remodeled "Bath House". The atmosphere is casual and the views are great. The food is delicious."

  • "We had been told about the amazing price (under $10) but didn't expect the food to be so good: sand dabs, wild rice, & green beans for one, pork tenderloin with red cabbage & mashed potatoes. Would gladly have paid 3 times as much Everything was cooked exactly right and service was incredibly speedy."

  • "We got there for the early specials which were priced right. Even though we had to wait for one member of our party, the server did not rush us. The food was excellent and the portion size perfect. A good place to visit with friends while enjoying a bay view and good wine. Not too noisy even though the dining room was full."

  • "Great find as we were celebrating our anniversary and staying at seven gables inn. beach house was in walking distance. great service and food. our wait staff were all awesome."

  • "Enjoyed the Sunset Supper. We all had the sand dabs, which were very nice. Great window table."
    Dined on 7/13/2014
  • "The place is nice enough though they pack you in like sardines but I ordered the meatloaf wraped in bacon (augh!). The bacon was soooo undercooked (was it cooked at all?) that it would have been a health hazard for me to have eaten it. My wife got luckier with her sand dabs as she told me they were very good. Doubt if we'll go there again."

  • "The service was great. The view was wonderful, and overall the food was good. Our steamed clams were a bit overdone, but the broth was wonderful. I had the special chicken. Even though it was dark meat, it was still dry. My spouse had the meatloaf, great taste."

  • "We had heard that the Beach House had opened at the former Bath House site and were anxious to try it on our annual trip to the Monterey Peninsula. There are several early diner menu specials to choose from (must be seated by 5:30 and order by 6) and even the salads and wine were discounted. The sand dabs and salmon were especially good. To top it off, it was a clear evening and the views were to die for!"

  • "This is a special place. The history of the building, the location, the views of Lovers Point, they all ad up to a special time and great service and food."

  • "Great value! We went in group of 13 and they were able to split us into 2 tables. We had the early bird special - really great food."

  • "We went early for the dinner special with our two young children. Our waiter was either not having a good day, just wasn't a people person, or was not pleased to have the family of four with two kids under five. We got the specials by overhearing the eager waiter one table over. We had to go searching for a high chair or booster seat on our own for our two year old. We didn't bother asking for the desert menu as my wife and I were both disappointed with the service. We took the kids home and treated them to ice cream instead of paying more for the same service. We all shared family style the salmon, pasta with shrimp, arugula salad with beets, and the roasted squash soup. The food was good, but I'm craving to go back anytime soon."

  • "We enjoyed the early specials at dinner. I had the chicken instead of fish and still had a wonderful, satisfying, fantastic meal. We all had something different and all were very happy with food and service."

  • "Very beautiful and romantic restaurant. Friendly and efficient staff. I ordered the evening special which was seafood (shrimp, clams, and white fish) over pasta with sun dried tomatoes and an incredible sauce -- YUM. I wish the Beach House was closer to where I live so I could go more often."

  • "The food was good, but the service was great. We arrived early for our reservation but we were still seated immediately on the patio. We had a great view. We were there for a weeknight getaway without our children. The table across from us (with an even better view) was occupied by a family with kids. The waitress offered to move us over once they paid their check, which we accepted. Waitress was really great, gave great advice about the menu and kept the drinking flowing. It was a bit overcast, so we didn't get to see the sunset. Hope to see it next time. Thanks for a great experience!"

  • "We are "locals" who eat out on the peninsula regularly, We went for the Early Bird seating and menu. The price was right and the food was outstanding. The quantity of food was perfect. We have recommended this restaurant to our friends."

  • "The view was good and the food was cheap, but frankly was the worst food we had in Monterey"
    Dined on 7/7/2014
  • "I have eaten here many times, but found the food to be substandard this time: black skin on the sand dabs, clear liquid at the bottom of the dynamite shrimp. The waiter wasn't helpful..even crashed and a slide of glass with last asked for iced tea. I'd heard the food had fallen , but didn't believe it until I also experienced the same thing. When I asked the waiter what the clear liquid was at he bottom of my shrimp bowl (never had been there at previous times) he said it was run off from shrimp coating which was ridiculous as that's orange..when I said this his comment while walking away was, "It tastes good doesn't it?" I won't be back or bring my many guests even though the view is lovely. I had such hopes for this restaurant!"

  • "We had dinner at the Beach House last Saturday evening with our 2.5 year old son. The service was fantastic and the food was wonderful. There is no kids menu but they were happy to give him a bowl of spaghetti with cheese, which he devoured while we enjoyed our dinners. Would certainly dine here again when in the Monterey area."

  • "Great views from everywhere in the restaurant plus a very nice sunset dinner special...We thought it was a great way to try out the food and we look forward to going there again soon."

  • "My partner and I had 5:00 reservations and trying the new Beach House restaurant for the first time. Got seated way off in a corner near the exit door. Ok views but enough open tables we could have been seated elsewhere. Waiter was ok but hovered in an intrusive and trying to speed things up to turn over the table kind of way. My meatloaf was very bland while partner's pork was very good. Portion sizes were very large for the price. Shrimp appetizer was very good and plenty of shrimp. We'd go back again."

  • "Made a reservation for two to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I had requested a table with a view. We were placed by the window but were crammed in with another table for two. Only one of us was able to see the view. It was VERY loud and our server was hurried and disinterested in our dining experience. The food was at best mediocre. I was very disappointed in my choice for a restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. This place is better suited for casual family dining."

  • "I have eaten at this site (several restaurants have held this property- The Bath House, Slats and now The Beach House) many times over the years. It's wonderful that it has been revived once again. It's a beautiful site/view. The food is wonderful and I highly recommend giving the Sunset Special a go. What a gem returned to prominence. Five Stars!"

  • "Come for the sunset dinner special but come back because the people are so nice and the view is great!"

  • "This place was a great disappointment to us. Tasteless, greasy sanddabs. Overcooked green beans. Nondescript rice with icky sauce. Overall, poorly seasoned food to which apparently no care was given in the preparation. Service was curt, bordering on rude. We felt rushed and left vowing never to return, although we were trying the restaurant as a possible location for a special anniversary celebration. Never again."

  • "We really enjoyed the food and were seated immediately, since we had a reservation. This was our second visit here and we came back because we loved the firecracker shrimp appetizer. This time around, our server was extremely rude and honestly made me feel like an idiot when I asked him about the soup of the day and he stated that he'd already told me what it was. Then he criticized me for asking if they had clam chowder (sorry if I like clam chowder... geez.). Then he shoved the food in front of my friend so abruptly that he hit the side of her arm. He just had a terrible attitude the entire evening, was rude and abrupt, and honestly made us feel like we would never want to return to this restaurant."

  • "Upon entering was greeted by angry customer leaving who said "The bathroom downstairs has no toilet paper and that's what the staff uses. Do you really want to eat here? It was our 29th anniversary and we had not been to the new restaurant - we loved The Bath House and came frequently for years. The view is still spectacular. Seems more touristy and definitely louder. Food is ok but not great. All in all, it was disappointing. Wait person was good and attentive. Energy inside was not so positive. Very busy. Will not likely come back."

  • "Pary of four, and no one was impressed. Waiter was curt in his manner, food was overpriced and sloppily prepared, dining room was very noisy. Very limited fish on the menu, and what was there was poorly prepared (greasy, not attractive of the only two fish dishes). My martini was good, and the bread was fresh, though!"
