Diner Reviews
  • "Great value! We went in group of 13 and they were able to split us into 2 tables. We had the early bird special - really great food."

  • "Very beautiful and romantic restaurant. Friendly and efficient staff. I ordered the evening special which was seafood (shrimp, clams, and white fish) over pasta with sun dried tomatoes and an incredible sauce -- YUM. I wish the Beach House was closer to where I live so I could go more often."

  • "This is a special place. The history of the building, the location, the views of Lovers Point, they all ad up to a special time and great service and food."

  • "We enjoyed the early specials at dinner. I had the chicken instead of fish and still had a wonderful, satisfying, fantastic meal. We all had something different and all were very happy with food and service."

  • "I have eaten here many times, but found the food to be substandard this time: black skin on the sand dabs, clear liquid at the bottom of the dynamite shrimp. The waiter wasn't helpful..even crashed and a slide of glass with last asked for iced tea. I'd heard the food had fallen , but didn't believe it until I also experienced the same thing. When I asked the waiter what the clear liquid was at he bottom of my shrimp bowl (never had been there at previous times) he said it was run off from shrimp coating which was ridiculous as that's orange..when I said this his comment while walking away was, "It tastes good doesn't it?" I won't be back or bring my many guests even though the view is lovely. I had such hopes for this restaurant!"

  • "The view was good and the food was cheap, but frankly was the worst food we had in Monterey"

  • "The food was good, but the service was great. We arrived early for our reservation but we were still seated immediately on the patio. We had a great view. We were there for a weeknight getaway without our children. The table across from us (with an even better view) was occupied by a family with kids. The waitress offered to move us over once they paid their check, which we accepted. Waitress was really great, gave great advice about the menu and kept the drinking flowing. It was a bit overcast, so we didn't get to see the sunset. Hope to see it next time. Thanks for a great experience!"

  • "We are "locals" who eat out on the peninsula regularly, We went for the Early Bird seating and menu. The price was right and the food was outstanding. The quantity of food was perfect. We have recommended this restaurant to our friends."

  • "We had dinner at the Beach House last Saturday evening with our 2.5 year old son. The service was fantastic and the food was wonderful. There is no kids menu but they were happy to give him a bowl of spaghetti with cheese, which he devoured while we enjoyed our dinners. Would certainly dine here again when in the Monterey area."

  • "Great views from everywhere in the restaurant plus a very nice sunset dinner special...We thought it was a great way to try out the food and we look forward to going there again soon."

  • "My partner and I had 5:00 reservations and trying the new Beach House restaurant for the first time. Got seated way off in a corner near the exit door. Ok views but enough open tables we could have been seated elsewhere. Waiter was ok but hovered in an intrusive and trying to speed things up to turn over the table kind of way. My meatloaf was very bland while partner's pork was very good. Portion sizes were very large for the price. Shrimp appetizer was very good and plenty of shrimp. We'd go back again."

  • "Delicious food, wonderful service, great atmosphere! Can't wait to go back!"

  • "This place was a great disappointment to us. Tasteless, greasy sanddabs. Overcooked green beans. Nondescript rice with icky sauce. Overall, poorly seasoned food to which apparently no care was given in the preparation. Service was curt, bordering on rude. We felt rushed and left vowing never to return, although we were trying the restaurant as a possible location for a special anniversary celebration. Never again."

  • "Loved our evening at The Beach House. What a bargain if ordering before 6 o'clock! The bacon wrapped meatloaf was under $10 and I had plenty to bring home."

  • "Professional from start to finish...these guys get what food and service are all about."

  • "Made a reservation for two to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I had requested a table with a view. We were placed by the window but were crammed in with another table for two. Only one of us was able to see the view. It was VERY loud and our server was hurried and disinterested in our dining experience. The food was at best mediocre. I was very disappointed in my choice for a restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. This place is better suited for casual family dining."

  • "I have eaten at this site (several restaurants have held this property- The Bath House, Slats and now The Beach House) many times over the years. It's wonderful that it has been revived once again. It's a beautiful site/view. The food is wonderful and I highly recommend giving the Sunset Special a go. What a gem returned to prominence. Five Stars!"

  • "Come for the sunset dinner special but come back because the people are so nice and the view is great!"

  • "We really enjoyed the food and were seated immediately, since we had a reservation. This was our second visit here and we came back because we loved the firecracker shrimp appetizer. This time around, our server was extremely rude and honestly made me feel like an idiot when I asked him about the soup of the day and he stated that he'd already told me what it was. Then he criticized me for asking if they had clam chowder (sorry if I like clam chowder... geez.). Then he shoved the food in front of my friend so abruptly that he hit the side of her arm. He just had a terrible attitude the entire evening, was rude and abrupt, and honestly made us feel like we would never want to return to this restaurant."

  • "we did the sunset supper and the food was excellent, the view fabulous. A great dinner experience."

  • "The process for making reservations is easy (and if you call, there's always someone to answer the phone), the food is always delicious (and always has new things to try), even if we can't get out to the patio, the inside seating is good, too! We are always greeted well, it's become our neighborhood go-to place, as well as our place to take out-of-town guests. It's just perfect!"

  • "Open over a year now, I have been there MANY times & have never been disappointed...except once when they had no tartar sauce! Food , service & ambiance ALWAYS the best. I do miss the Panko Crusted Chicken that is no longer on the menu."

  • "Upon entering was greeted by angry customer leaving who said "The bathroom downstairs has no toilet paper and that's what the staff uses. Do you really want to eat here? It was our 29th anniversary and we had not been to the new restaurant - we loved The Bath House and came frequently for years. The view is still spectacular. Seems more touristy and definitely louder. Food is ok but not great. All in all, it was disappointing. Wait person was good and attentive. Energy inside was not so positive. Very busy. Will not likely come back."

  • "Pary of four, and no one was impressed. Waiter was curt in his manner, food was overpriced and sloppily prepared, dining room was very noisy. Very limited fish on the menu, and what was there was poorly prepared (greasy, not attractive of the only two fish dishes). My martini was good, and the bread was fresh, though!"

  • "I've eaten here twice during the early bird setting. The food is fantastic along with the service and ambience. The early bird menu is out standing and the prices cannot be beat."

  • " We had beautiful seats. The waiter was just fantastic, very witty and fun to kid with. We loved our scallop appetizer, the delicious meal and absolutely magnificent dessert."

  • "Great views from virtually any seat. Fish dishes were fresh & well prepared. All servers were obviously encouraged to widow you through dinner as QuickTime as possible. Our party felt rushed & pushed"

  • "The service and food are very good. The price is reasonable and the extend time from 4-6 PM for early dinner is perfect. Will recommend this restaurant to visiting friends and neighbors."

  • "Good food, big portions & great water views. I would go here again"

  • "First impression when one walks in is the great view of Monterey Bay with the St. Lucia Mountains in the background. There are lots of mini-environments from which to choose for seating, so ask when you make your reservation...quiet booths, tables along the windows, outside heated patio, or sit at the bar facing the Bay. The menu has choices for anything you want...my friend had the bacon wrapped meatloaf and said that it was great. I had the grilled chicken, also great and uniquely seasoned...very tasty. Service was attentive but not intrusive. I'll be back."

  • "The Sunset Dinner menu was a great value: fabulous price point for just the right amount of food. We were able to eat salad or soup, entree, and a beer, for $21 each, including tax and tip. This was our first trip back in nearly 13 years. The remodel was successful! The interior is much improved: airier, lighter ... all in all, wonderful!"

  • "Make reservations! This place was packed for the Early Bird. A real bargin. Generous portions and great foot."

  • "We were a party of 6 and we loved all our dishes! Try the Firecracker Shrimp as an appetizer, it is Outstanding!! The oysters are great also!! Salads were excellent tasting. I ordered the filet mignon which was delicious but I thought it was odd when it arrived already sliced. We ordered 3 desserts which were outstanding! The mud pie was the best I've ever tasted! The Lemon tart and lemon sorbet are heavenly. Also the strawberry sorbet and that tart were excellent."

  • "Good varied menu - we had a picky eater with us, and she was accommodated without reservation. Scallops in lobster bisque was delicious - would have liked a smaller (or less flattened) bowl so I could really scoop up all that yummy bisque. My party also had steaks and meat loaf. Everyone loved their meals. The view is amazing, and the service was great. There are good wine selections to suit all budgets - even a house Chardonnay that's only $4-something a glass! Meals are pricey, but worth every penny, considering the overall quality of food, service, view, and ambiance. Put on the top of your "go to" list."

  • "We were seated at an outdoor table with a great view. It was a chilly evening but the glassed in area and space heaters helped. Beach House has a casual ambiance, very different from the Bath House that it used to be. The food was good and although our server was very nice, the service was very slow."

  • "My fourth visit and another home run. I brought friends with me this time, one who had been before, and a new comer. Great service from Donna, our waitress, and we loved the wine she had recommended. From the delicious French Martini to the lighter than air gnocchi with truffles and black pepper cream sauce to cioppino so divine I wanted to lick the bowl --our dinner was perfect. First time dining on the patio and it was lovely."

  • "Overall my husband and I's dining experience here was a good one. I ordered the pasta with basil cream sauce, parmesan, and shrimp - it was hot, creamy, and delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the big pieces of grated parmesan mixed in were delightful. My husband got the firecracker shrimp and he loved it, he said it was fresh and spicy. We were a bit disappointed because we got all dressed up thinking that it was going to be a fancy restaurant, but the rest of the clientel were all wearing shorts and flip flops, so it was a bit more casual than we expected. The waiter seemed a bit distracted, but he was friendly and brought the food out to us very quickly. Overall we had a lovely dinner."

  • "We had a lovely early dinner with delicious food and a delightful server. But best of all we were seated at a window table and had a beautiful view of the Monterey Bay. Beach House Restaurant is a real gem located in Pacific Grove Lover's Point."
