Diner Reviews
  • "I made a reservation for 2, but unfortunately they did not put us at a good table. It was extremely small and neither one of us had a good view. The restaurant was nice and had a beautiful enclosed balcony which overlooked the water. I would recommend that if a reservation is made that you ask to be place at a table with a view. The food itself was just OK. I had the lobster tails which were good, but the rice was undercooked and the asparagus was overcooked. The other meal was lobster and steak and the steak was very good."

  • "The view itself is worth a ten! The three of us arrived at 4:30 PM to take advantage of their “Sunset Dinner Special.” The first image that captures your mind is the combination of views, ambiance, and the feeling of patrons having a wonderful time. The best surprise was the quality of the food, the fine balance of spices and sauces, the great three-dollar house wine, and the fabulous bread. Our friend, my wife and I, left with that “we’ll definitely be back” feeling."

  • "Beach House was recommended to me by a co-worker who is quite the foodie. They did not disappoint! Our meals were flavorful and perfect. The atmosphere is geared towards adults, however, the little one in our party was made most welcome by our server. We ordered from the Sunset menu and managed a gourmet-level dinner for three for a budget friendly price."

  • "Food was excellent! Elevated, right over the ocean means great views. Expensive meal, but it is worth it."

  • "Our second time at this restaurant for the Sunset Special Probably the best restaurant deal in the county. Food very nicely presented and tasty. Waiter very pleasant"

  • "Ate on side porch, partially glassed, with heaters...view was magnificent! We were expecting the same with the food, but no one at our table of four would return for the food...just average. The service was OK, but our bread pudding dessert with an advertised 8-10 minute wait to reheat properly, came out room temp, not even slightly warm. At that point we were ready to leave and asked them to just remove from our tab. In their defense I believe they were trying hard as the chef came to the table to ask about the food issue. He was most apologetic and seed ready to team someone on his team. So...go for the view, expect avg food, and be happy if you get more."

  • "We have dined at this restaurant many times since it opened last year . Food is great for the value especially the sunset menu. Service has always been topo notch."

  • "This was my fourth time there and I have loved it every time. The wait staff are quick and friendly. There is a killer view of the Monterey Bay. If you can, sit on the enclosed deck (has glass wind buffers and heat lamps for chilly days) and look at one of the most beautiful sites there is in CA. Where the waves meet the sand and rocks and the Victorian buildings above the cliff - very romantic. Food is fantastic as well. I especially love the grilled salmon. My friend loves the pork loin. Freshly made and good presentation. You start dinner with freshly baked bread and if there is room a sinfully decadent dessert (we chose the bread pudding and the mud pie). Can be a little noisy inside the restaurant but not too distracting."

  • "We requested a window table with online reservation. When we arrived they were holding a table for us with a great view of both the beach directly below and a banking coastline. Didn't get a chance to hang out in the outdoor patio but it looked very inviting and had the same impressive view. Going to have to go back there without reservations next time just to have an excuse to spend some time out there. Their drink menu had some unique selections including some house recipe's that warranted a 2nd round. The chefs were amazing. Their asparagus ravioli and specially made sausage were excellent. We had a variety of deserts which we all shared. Hard to pick the best, they were all very smooth. When you try them you will know what I mean."

  • "This was the historic Old BathHouse building at Lover´s Point in PG that was recently remodeled. You can´t beat the views of the beautiful Monterey Coastline and the location in unequaled in PG. The dining room is airy with high ceilings and large windows for the great views. There is also an outdoor terrace that´s protected with windows, tarp cover and heaters for blustery days. Overall a great dining experience. The food and service was great and the staff was attentive and demonstrated enthusiasm to please. They have an great bargain for early dining until 6p. They open at 4p. So, if you get in early you can save and still have the fantastic views."

  • "We're local to PG. Cannot beat this for view!! Third time here. First two visits were cocktails and appetizers, would rate those experiences as good. This time was not good. We brought our son and daughter in law and their baby girl who by the way was a saint in the restaurant. From management down to the waiter they made a fixable situation worse. Our waiter Jean Luc from the beginning was rushing us. After he brought a plate of Rigatoni to my daughter in law (Vegetarian) WITH Chicken. She didn't see the chicken in the pasta until she bit into it. The waiter blamed the kitchen. But.....surprisingly instead of a deft apology the service got worse! Management was advised their attitude was pretty blaise. Not recommending them."

  • "We enjoyed an excellent dinner on short notice at the Beach House. The food was tasty and very reasonably priced. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and my wife was even impressed with their bathroom! We will be back on our next visit to Monterey."

  • "The food was really wonderful and the staff was friendly and attentive. We were seated by the window with a great view -- unfortunately we just about froze to death. All of us had to wear our coats throughout dinner. Conversation was just about impossible. We had to shout at each other to be heard over the noise."

  • "Great ambiance and wonderful view. The dinner was very tasty, and our server was helpful and friendly. Would like to go into the bar just for a drink sometime. Would also go back for the early bird special."

  • "I miss the old Beach HouseRestaurant. While the setting remains the same, with amazing views of Monterrey Bay, the food is not as gourmet and the ambiance not as romantic. Dinner was a bit rushed and our server a bit brusque. Noise level was too loud to carry on a conversation with others at the same table."

  • "This restaurant overlooks Monterey Bay and provides quite the view while dining. Although I would not rate the food as special or exceptional, it is good and not ridiculously priced."

  • "It was suppose to be a nice romantic dinner for two. It was loud. Very loud!!! Food was just ok no wow factor. I expected more for the price. Mud pie was the best part of our not so romantic night!!"

  • "This was our first visit to the Beach House and we were overwhelmed with the friendly ambience. Service was excellent.....she knew it was our first time and, since we were looking at everything coming out of the kitchen, she would slow down and tell us what she was bringing, whether it was a main dish or dessert. The food was terrific!! Wife had duck breast for the first time and explained she wished it cooked towards the medium well side....when it come out our waitress asked if it was ok and, when my wife said there were a couple slices not quite done enough, the waitress took it right back to make it right. This is our new favorite restaurant!!"

  • "It's a very pretty remodel and we had a lovely table with a gorgeous view of the bay. I ordered the lobster tail which was absolutely perfect, sweet and succulent. It was also a generous portion, 8 oz (?) for only $32. My husband ordered the meat loaf which was delicious."

  • "Through Opentable, I requested a quiet window table with a view of the ocean. We did not get this, although we could see the ocean. Unfortunately, the table between the ocean and us was occupied by an extremely loud foursome where they shouted as they talked. The food was good and we enjoyed the view we had. It was worth going to once, but there are so many wonderful restaurants in the area, we probably will not return. Oh, and what they labeled as a rib-eye steak (Steak Frites au Poivre) was not. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves and it is a good place."

  • "We were seated at the window's edge, right at our reservation time. Had arrived and bit early and had a drink at the bar- experienced bartender who knew how to mix a real cocktail. Out table was lovely- that view is amazing on a stormy evening. Out server, Alfredo, was like a mind reader- we were never out of anything- including our drinks! Very smooth service, quiet and elegant. Great vital crowd in mixed casual to dressy casual attire. Food was of the charts good- oysters, salmon and ribeye, with their accompaniments, were all cooked to perfection, had delicious sauces and were hot to the table. Great experience- we'll return and will pass it on!"

  • "We had dinner at the Beach House recently and left feeling as if something was missing. It has great potential but the noise level in the restaurant and the service changed what could've been a fantastic evening into a "so-so" event. Too bad"

  • "This recent addition to the hometown feel of Pacific Grove is welcome, and usually busy beyond capacity. The early bird menu is reasonably priced (six options at $9.90) and delivers reliably tasty meal options. The salmon has been consistently good, but I was disappointed to hear that they have replaced a wonderful side dish - black risotto - with a much less interesting pile of lentils. I've also tried the pork tenderloin in the past, which was quite nice, but fairly small-portioned. I ordered the meat loaf this time, which was hearty and tasty. House wines by the glass are adequate, and a great bargain at $2.90."

  • "The setting was magnificent. The food was cold and heavy. The cost (even with the Sunset special) was too high when everything else was in (an appetizer, and non-house wine)."

  • "Great place with very good food and an excellent service. Perfect restaurant to end a great day in the area. We spent a nice evening there and can only recommend you to do the same - you will not regret it."

  • "A wonderful setting right at Lover's Point in Pacific Grove. We have eaten there three times and each visit has been rewarded with a great meal and, of course, a wonderful setting right on the water. Ask for patio seating if you can wait."

  • "The food was really good and the prices are great. We took advantage of their early bird special and it was a great deal! We will definitely come back again when we are in Pacific Grove and will recommend it to all our friends and family."

  • "Excellent service by our waitress! We were arriving after a concert and a bit late but they promptly took us to our table by the window which had a beautiful view of hte Monterey bay. The food was excellent, we ordered specials and off the menu. We will all be returning to Beach House!!!"

  • "We had dinner at the Bath House ten years before on our wedding day when we were staying at a local B&B, and for our ten year anniversary, we came back for a few days and decided that dinner here would be good. We were very pleased to see the new restaurant - much more open, pleasant, vibrant and all the windows brings the coast and water into the restaurant. We had a vey nice wine, a good server and great food. We were just disappointed that we did not have room for dessert. It was a perfect dinner in a great setting."
