Beach Chalet never responded to emails or phone calls - I didn't know for sure if we were going to go there or not until I arrived in town and physically went there - don't believe the menu on their website! Great view and beer. Some food outstanding, other average, and clam chowder was sour (likely bad clams). She brought my entree 2 min after my salad arrived, asked if I wanted another glass of wine when the first one was only half empty, failed to notice I didn't have cutlery, and took my wife's coffee order without asking me if I wanted any. When I finally got my coffee order she brought the wrong one. Honestly, I went more for the atmosphere and history. The building and the view of the ocean is a superb way to end a day spent in Golden Gate Park. There is a small museum area on the lower floor and both the upstairs beach view and downstairs park view are a treat year round. The food though has finally caught up with the view. All our entrees were done precisely correct, from Scallops and Bass, to the flatiron steak. Much of the focus of the menu has been refined. The bar area is a large with a huge selection. The menu features a good variety so there is something on there for everyone. And the brewpub makes it even more fun - especially if you get the sampler - 8 different beers.
