Diner Reviews
  • "Overpriced salad and coffee. Dark meat in chicken salad Validation for 1.5 hours meant paying $4.00"

  • "This used to be a great restaurant - great food and service. I had a family reunion here a few years ago but in the past year it has really gone downhill. The menu has changed, it's been paired down which is fine but the food quality is awful. Undercooked or overcooked with zero taste. The service was only so-so. The hostess said she would seat us outside and then led us to a table inside. When I asked about it she responded "ummm outside is full". I looked outside, it was clearly not the case, so perhaps they were under-staffed and didn't want to fill another table. Sad to see this happen to a place that has great outdoor seating with lake views."

  • "Large portions at reasonable prices. The house burger and tuna burger special were cooked perfectly and the fish and chips were outstanding. Plus, you can't beat the excellent Lake Washington views."

  • "It's always a great place to eat, but on a perfect (weather-wise) Seattle day, the view is unbeatable! The lunch menu is varied and everything I've had has been quite tasty."

  • "See below - good brunch with that exception. The waitress (think it was Lia) was good and she took off her most expensive dish for brunch because I think she felt badly about the cost of bread!"

  • "I found this place searching yelp for seafood restaurants with a water view (in kirkland/bellevue). I wanted an impressive place to take a date and I must say, I got it! Great atmosphere, nice views, and good service. Thank you to Vanessa (Hostess) for a lovely first date seat looking out to the sunset. Jason was a good server, but I did not like how he just brought the bill without asking if we were done ordering/ready for the bill. All in all, a great place to eat, and you will definitely impress a date with this location. OpenTable made it super simple to reserve a time."

  • "Mother's Day brunch was complete. We had the best table in the house with a complete view of Lake Washington. The variety of choices was excellent at this brunch. Servers were very friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was that the cioppino was a bit mushy and salty. A bit overpriced so I made sure I got my money's worth :-)"

  • "Came here for Father's Day breakfast. Have been here a few times before. Nice views but the service seems to decline each time I'm there. Restaurant is also looking a little bit tired. I think the view is the only thing that keeps people coming. Food is not particularly memorable."

  • "What a lovely lunch! Had the fabulous crab/ginger soup and crab pasta. Just wonderful and the view of the lake couldn't have been better!!!"

  • "Eating outside with friends on the only sunny day this week was a blast. They were prepared for the sun: they brought hats! Suggest you do too! Food was good but not spectacular. View was spectacular. A good place to introduce out-of-town guests to views of Lake Washington, Seattle, and the Olympics."

  • "We love the beautiful views of the lake and the outdoor patio in the summer but always feel disappointed with the food. A setting like this deserves a much better chef!"

  • "Great waiter, food was excellent, loved the view and they sat us at a very nice booth since we were celebrating our sister's birthday."

  • "We come here for the wonderful view and fresh fish. The chefs do an amazing job. Halibut or salmon, can't go wrong. They are so creative with the potatoes and veggies, we always want more."

  • "We went to the Beach Cafe on June 7 after a long absence and found the food to be terrible. The salmon in the fish tacos was overcooked and doused in the aioli sauce. My wife was served a salad with mixed greens (which the menu does not indicate) and when she asked for romaine, they brought her a bowl of romaine to mix the salad herself. Won't be going back."

  • "The food was wonderful. Most of the people working were friendly. We sat waiting for our waiter too many times to finally show up and take our order or serve our food. During that time many other tables were seated, waited on, and even served their food before us. Our waters were never refilled and our other empty drinks were never asked about either. We waited nearly 20 minutes for our bill, but eventually we tracked another waiter down and he brought our bill. He made the comment that our waiter was dealing with a large table, but they were only there for the last half of the time we were there so that doesn't explain the poor service at the beginning of our dinning experience. It will be a long time before we go back, if ever."

  • "The calamari was just horrible - we tasted it and couldn't believe how bad it was - too much breading - couldn't even taste the calamari. Our entrees were very good but we were really turned off by the appetizer to which we were all looking forward. Our friend from Nebraska - who never gets fresh calamari - was so excited. You should take it off the menu if you can't improve on it. We folks from the Northwest know what good calamari is. Thank you"

  • "Docked the boat and had brunch. Perfect spot on Lk. Washington. Service was outstanding this time which I could not say the same last time I was there. Pam was great....very friendly. "

  • "Overall, we enjoyed our time together at the Beach Cafe. Our server was outstanding, as was another who passed our table, offering quick bits of "frolic and fun statements." The female manager was just as outstanding. However, a male "manager/seater dampened it all. He didn't seem to want to engage us and when we asked if we could sit in a booth very near the window seat that waited for us, he declined, stating that it was reserved for parties of 4. In another restaurant, we would have left. However, we thought we'd go ahead and give it a shot. Well, we noted, throughout our time there, that he was just as unpleasant to everyone else he seated AND, after a stay of 1.5 - 2 hrs., no one ever took the table that we'd asked about. "

  • "This is a great place on a nice and sunny day. The staff was nice and we could get a nice window seat. The food was good, something I would expect of a nice place. Desert stood out, my kids loved the sorbets and a bread pudding we ordered. Will be there again this summer."

  • "Turkey sandwich was very good. My wife's Caesar salad was just lettuce without enough dressing and the coconut prawns didn't have much coconut on them. the staff was very good about taking the prawns back and brining more dressing."

  • "Avg breakfast fare, nothing notable. View is the star here Food is good, service is good. decor is good. Have had much better Have had worse. "

  • "Would have loved to see a couple more choices on the food. My better half had issues finding something she liked. I tried the chicken with cous cous and it was amazing!"

  • "Over priced appetizers and entrees. Salads were mediocre. Great location and service. "

  • "The view is absolutely impeccable. The service/timing, not so impeccable. It took well over an hour to have the food delivered for service which if you are on island time, this may be a good spot for you to enjoy the view. The restaurant was not crowded so that couldn't be why the service was so delayed. "

  • "On a recent Sat. night, the place was hopping, which might have accounted for the not-great service we received. It took a while for our order to get taken, then after ordering it, we were told they were out of the soup of the day, then we had to flag someone down for drink refills, etc., all while other neighboring tables were grabbing the waiter or his assistant whenever they walked by, since it didn't happen often enough. My fish and chips were good and my son enjoyed his turkey sandwich but my husband and son said the clam chowder (at $8/cup, I think) was watery and not great. Seemed that all the food was a bit expensive for a casual place, but its location on the water is probably what keeps people coming even at these prices!"

  • "Parking was inconvenient. Food was good and the calamari appetizer was excellent. Generally overpriced, the service staff needs lots of training. We had to beg for water, as an example. We had expected a view, even with the mediocre weather. The view would have been mediocre on a beautiful day! With poor parking and a mediocre view, I find the Beach Café NOT worth a return visit. "

  • "A beautifully, warm evening so we were looking for outdoor dining. After several recommendations, decided to check out the Beach Cafe. The view is definitely a highlight. Overall a nice experience, but less than expected. After seating us on the patio, the servers neglected to mention that the heaters weren't working, even though it was going to get cooler as the evening progressed. When we asked, they kindly moved us indoors but the changes in servers left us unimpressed. The food was very good, but the spotty service will make me think twice about a return visit. "

  • " We have been to this restaurant before several times. However for some reason this time the service is very poor. We ordered salad and main dishes. We requested salad to be served before the main dishes. We waited for 30 mts and were wondering what happened. After 45 mts, someone (not our server) showed up with main dishes. Our waitress did not even show up once in the middle. They did not even offer any bread. When we complained, manager came and apologized several times. Someone dropped the ball. They gave us one main dish and dessert for free. Anyhow, food was good. We will definitely go again. hopefully the service will be better next time. "

  • "We had a great early dinner outside on the patio on a lovely night - couldn't have asked for a more pleasant dining experience"

  • "I was really quite bummed with the overall experience. My reservation request for patio could not be honored (I reserved early in the day) - See last bullet My en route call to follow up on patio request could not be honored The hostesses (yes, there were two) were confused when I said I had a reservation Our table top as wobbly and annoying Our server forgot the ranch for the chicken wings We came for happy hour but were not seated in the bar and they would they honor the happy hour prices (annoying technicality, considering) My Caesar salad (a recommendation) was bland One of our draft beers was flat We were seated near a window and DID see open tables on the patio "

  • "The setting is great, I'm sure they do well for that reason. Service was good (attentive), food was just OK. $15 for an OK chicken sandwich, I'll go to PCC and have lunch $10. "

  • "Beach Cafe is a great resyaurant. Ive been here many times for happy hour and dinner. We chose it for brunch because it was a special occasion and he specifically had requested brunch on the water on a Saturday. Not many waterfront places are open on Saturdays oddly. The unfortunate part was how few choices there were. 3 to be exact. That's it. I'll still come here, but not for brunch."

  • "Made reservations for Mother's Day to take my 91 year old mother-in-law out. Specifically asked for a quiet area with no children nearby - she finds it hard to hear when it is too loud. You guessed it! Seated in an area SURROUNDED by noisy kids! Asked to be moved when first seated but was told "all tables were reserved". Really? So was mine, or at least I thought so. Buffet was okay - nothing outstanding, and really very expensive. Would have preferred to order off the menu - Mother doesn't eat much - and once again was told "that is not an option". Also I had to flag down a server as we waited almost 7 minutes for someone to acknowledge our presence. Sorry! Will not be back, and will absolutely refuse to recommend this place."

  • "Menu choices slightly superior to chain restuarants, but still primarily a sports bar. Big screen TV and a central bar are a distraction from the waterfront location. Service was ok. Everyone was friendly and doing the best they could. New, inexperienced servers were slow, but had the best intentions. Food quality was good for what was offered. Great place to drink a Margarita on a sunny Friday evening. "

  • "All we did was Brunch there, it was about $200 with tip for 4 of us. The food though was very good. The Prime Rib was juicy and well cooked. The Eggs and pancakes we great, and the fruit plates were a hit with the kids. The service was great, our drinks were always full and plates were cleared quickly. The view is stunning, you sit at water level and in the morning the sun is not a problem."

  • "Brunch on Mother's Day was a treat! All the staff were very friendly. The food was EXCELLENT! And the atmosphere was lively and fun. Absolutely incredible view of Lake Washington - it's literally right outside the door. Unexpectedly GREAT find!"

  • "The brunch was fine but probably would be a better place to go on a summer day when you can sit outside. Prices were good. They brought the food with the first course and I wish they had put a little more time in between the two servings."
