Bazin's on ChurchThe food, service and ambianceThe food, service and ambiance were amazing. We will most definitely be back!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMCool Place in townBazin's offered tasty food, although a bit pricey.
It was nice to be able to go to this friendly yet classy restaurant so close to home.
The noise level was a bit high for our taste.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBazin's in BestOne block off the endless traffic on Maple Avenue in Vienna, VA. is quiet Church Street, which crosses the old Washington and Old Dominion bike and pedestrian trail. That's where you'll find Bazin's on Church, a gem of a restaurant that is truly a rare find. From the excellent wait service to the unusual array of desserts, everything about Bazin's is excellent. (Well, maybe the noise level could be lowered a few decibels, but on a warm early summer evening, you've got to give a little in the way of ambiance but it won't spoil the great food and extensive wine list. And if after an excellent meal you feel the urge to walk some of it off, the W&OD Trail is just a few footsteps away.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Menu, portions quiteNice Menu, portions quite large, seasonings minimal--need a bit more spice to be excellent6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is delicious, thoughThe food is delicious, though a bit pricey. The noise level is pretty high.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Sunday AfternoonJoined friends here for Sunday Brunch. While not our first time, it was the first time for our friends. Great food, great service, in a great atmosphere -- what more could you ask for. The Fried Oysters and Bacon Bloody Mary (who can resist bacon anything) were a good start. The brunch selections from the crab benedict to the sliders had something for everyone's appetite. We started about 1pm and finished about 3:30pm and did not know the time was passing so fast. Great Sunday Afternoon.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNoiseI know they've worked on it but it's still a bit noisy for a quiet dinner. And the tables for 2 are much too close together. We could have joined the conversation with the folks on either side of us.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMReliably excellentWe've never had a bad meal. It's always a special treat6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing, as usual!Bazin's always does a fantastic job. We went there for a friend's birthday lunch and they did not let us down. Most of the ladies ordered salads, which they all enjoyed. My tuna tartar was delectable. The sliders were a hit too. The birthday slice of key lime pie was a refreshing change and enjoyed by all. Our waiter was attentive and friendly as well. I would always highly recommend Bazin's for a great meal.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodVery good food and cozy. A little bit too cozy as if like the people next to us could every word of our conversation.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AM10th anniversary dinnerMy husband and I had a lovely evening at Bazin's. I had noted in my OpenTable reservation that it was our anniversary, and I would have appreciated an acknowledgement of it from the staff, but no one mentioned it. The tables for two are very close to one another, so in spite of the restaurant being upscale in menu and price, it was not as romantic as I was hoping for. My husband's filet mignon was outstanding. My swordfish was good but not great - I was hoping for a spicier rub on the fish to be off-set by the creaminess of the avocado topping, but instead everything just seemed a bit bland. Both the warm beet salad and the caramel tart dessert were amazingly delicious, though. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMalways yummy. consistentthe eclectic menu, convenient location, and table cloth ambience makes this a great place for business luncheons. My dining companion hadn't heard of Bazins/ been there - and he was impressed. I got one of my regular dishes, which was tastey as always. The service was fine, but not notably good. Parking can be somewhat tough with a small garage and street parking available - both fill up rather quickly, esp during peak times.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways wonderful!Never disappointed at Bazin's--only wish they were open for lunch on Saturdays!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMService was friendly and spot-onService was friendly and spot-on regarding timing, amount of interaction, attentiveness, etc. Overall a wonderful experience.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMNot their best effort this timeWe have been here several times and it has always been superb service and food. This time the waiter was either overwhelmed, distracted, or both. We waited 30 min to order; he brought the wrong wine because they were out of what we ordered - and he forgot to tell us so we pointed it out, then he confessed. When it came the food was 75% great; I didn't care for grits and navy beans with salmon; but the soft shell crab, steak and fish special were very good. The key lime pie was heavy, too sweet and very thinly covering what was an excellent crust. There was a street fair we didn't know about so parking was a challenge; walking 4 blocks in heels was no fun! And there were several very poorly behaved children terrorizing the dining area.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWhy Don't We Get There More Often?Bazin's really is a neighborhood gem. The quality of food, wine and service at a reasonable price, in a great location, is unbeatable. It is such a pleasure to enjoy and support a truly local restaurant of this quality. We'd not been in 2-3 years, no reason just hadn't thought about it, and were struck by the restaurant's consistency. Both the quality of food, but also the selection were terrific.
Please keep it up, with our thanks!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic!!!My wife and I have been to Bazin's more than a handful of times and we always have a great meal. I had the Sea Bass and it was cooked to perfection.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways GoodOur daughter requested Bazin's as the place to celebrate her birthday since she had heard such good things about it -- and she was not disappointed. She ordered the filet (steak) which she said was the best ever. As always, we also enjoyed our meals and will continue to think of Bazin's as one of our favorites. And, the desserts never fail to amaze.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGem in ViennaFood very good. Service very good nice wine list small and noisy only complaint is that salads are not very good5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIF YOU ARE IN THE VIENNA AREA,IF YOU ARE IN THE VIENNA AREA, DON'T MISS BAZIN'S ON CHURCH. EACH VISIT GETS BETTER THE THE ONE BEFORE.
THE FOOD AND SERVICE ARE AT THE TOP OF THE THEIR GAME EVERYTIME.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat gem in ViennaOur first time to done and the server made us feel right at home as one of the regulars. The appetizers and entrees were very tasteful and well presented. Will definitely make it a point to be "regulars".5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOff the main street in Vienna....Bazin's on Church is just a block off Maple Avenue in Vienna and has an appealing open concept dining room. The lobster ravioli appetizer was fabulous. Entrees included the flat iron steak and duck breast, both of which were cooked to a perfect medium rare. The warm apple tart shared as a dessert was yummy. The 2005 Gigondas on the wine list was a wonderful find at $65. Can't wait for our next dinner at Bazin's!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMEvening at Bazin'sWe arrived at Bazin's on a Friday evening, the restaurant has a very open feel with many windows around the outside of the restaurant. The wait staff were very attentive, ensuring we understood the specials and explaining all the accompaniments with each meal. We choose the fried oysters to start, with one of the several salads, and choose two of the specials soft shell crabs and wolf fish as our main entrees. The food was excellent and arrived at just the right time. The overall experience was outstanding and the friendly atmosphere added to the ambiance. Would definatey return very soon!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experience.I have attended wine dinners at Bazin's before and have always been impressed. My dining experience for this "non-event" evening was excellent. I had the Wolf fish, which was light and not "fishy" at all. My dining partner had the filet, which was cooked to a perfect medium rare as ordered. The chocolate tort was very good. Our only disappointment was the Coffee and donuts bread pudding. It was mushy. The wine list at Bazin's is impressive, albeit a bit pricy. We were not rushed and our waiter was outstanding. Next time I will stick with the waiter's recommendations, especially for dessert!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've never, ever had a negativeWe've never, ever had a negative experience from the quality of the food to the service. Food always, for us at least, outstanding, and service is helpful and well timed.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMServiceTypically the service is fantastic but I only gave a good this time and am thinking our server must of been new or having a bad night. We had to ask about the specials, request more water and when there was "something that we could not identify" in the bottom of my wine glass which I drank out of he simply picked it up and said, "Sorry". We will 100% go back because the food is awesome.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great, and the serviceFood was great, and the service was fast. Had a great dinner there.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and a neighborhood gemWe were surprised there were reservations available on the same day, that is not always the case. Knowing this we also found it surprising that there was not much parking available. The restaurant was probably 60% full. The staff was attentive but a little hard to understand with whatever accent he had. The food and wine was great. Nice portion and great presentation.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favoritesHands-down, the best restaurant in Vienna. The owners are always there to stop by the tables and check how the food is. Great bartenders (shout out to Brian!) and great servers. It's a great spot to take a date or just to go on a nice dinner with close friends.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMJazz Brunch well done! This was our second outing to Bazin's for brunch, and our first for the 'Jazz Sunday." The music was great, not to loud, and well played for a bunch of youngsters. Take the family and enjoy a great meal with some entertainment.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMServer was excellent. TheServer was excellent. The food was great, not the best but certainly above average. The desserts weren't special. One was too sweet and the apple crisp was above average but not by much.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was great, andThe service was great, and so was the halibut . The bread was excellent. We did not have dessert, because we were having that at my home. It's a great place for dinner. Nice atmosphere.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousI come here every chance I get. Vienna is lucky to have such a wonderful restaurant in town.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA Nice Change...I have worked in Tyson's Corner for 10 years and am so very tired of the chain restaurants! Lunch always becomes a race. Bazin's was a wonderful change to the typical hurried pace in TC. The parking was easy, the overall feeling was relaxed, and the food was EXCELLENT! Our salads sound were excellent! The "foodies" in us were impressed with the homemade dressings and small touches (i.e. fresh garbanzo beans) that really set our salads apart from the "usual". Save room for dessert because the Salted Caramel Tart was DIVINE! It is sweet enough that you may want to share, but scrumptious enough that you may change your mind! The service was also attentive and professional. Our lunch was both pleasant and delicious - we'll be back!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMvery nice mealFood was excellent. Portions on the smaller size. Despite an early (7) reservation and a nearly empty dining room, server seemed to want to rush us. Place was full by 8.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBazin's is rapidly becomingBazin's is rapidly becoming one of our favorite restaurants -- the food gets better and better and we come away singing its praises. I had the special Veal Milanese and it was perfection, and my husband had the rockfish special which was also delicious. For the first time ever, I did not order the salted caramel tart for dessert opting instead for something "spring-like" and had the lime tart which was excellent as well. We will be back in a few weeks for my daughter's birthday -- Can't wait.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and Service were fantastic!Food and Service were fantastic! Only complaint is the noise level.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMService - excellent Had theService - excellent
Had the three course prix fix dinner - $35
Soup - excellent
Entree - Chilean sea bass - fair - thin tasteless

Coleslaw - good
Dessert - strawberrys / ice cream and liqueur - very good

I can't wait to go back.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good experience. TheyVery good experience. They were attentive to my note to them that my wife and I were celebrating our 25th anniversary.
I would recommend to friends.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways great. We get to Bazin's a couple times a year, and it's still one of our favorites. I love the crispy oysters on creamed spinach. The duck confit/lentil appetizer is practically a meal. I'll definitely get it again. Husband had risotto with pork ragout and loved it, but wanted a little more ragout. I tasted and thought the risotto needed more flavor. Mother-in-law LOVED the filet and especially the potato cake. Great wine list, reasonable prices. Loved the Hedges Red Mountain 2010 (cab blend) from Washington State, more elegant than a big fruit bomb. Best part of the meal was the Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding. We were skeptical, but it's AWESOME. Thankfully, not a huge portion. So, no sugar coma. Very happy we live close to Bazin's.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always love Bazin's: theWe always love Bazin's: the food is inspired, portions are reasonable, menu always changing with daily specials. Best restaurant in Vienna. Wish there were others like it. Our only complaint (minor) is that the wait staff is not always at attentive as they could be, but they do not rush diners -- which we appreciate.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe only complaint is thatThe only complaint is that the wine list is deceiving. Very few choices for those seeking wine by the glass. If you were interested in purchasing bottles of wine, the choices are extensive.
Would suggest that they change up the options for wines by the glass - everytime I'm in there, the selection of wines by the glass (often the less desirable ones) are the only ones available.
They should change up the wine list as they change up the menus (seasonally).4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was wonderful especillyThe food was wonderful especilly if you like seafood. The service was excellent - our ice tea glasses were always being refilled without asking.
A very good experience and we will return again.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorite restaurants inOur favorite restaurants in the Northern Virginia area.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThoroughly enjoyed our dinner-foodThoroughly enjoyed our dinner-food was fantastic as usual4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent choice for a nice,Excellent choice for a nice, relaxed dining experience. Menu is narrow but nicely balanced and ambience is casual but a distinct cut above the shopping mall restaurant experience. A nice choice for entertaining visitors or midtier business guests.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were 5 ladies, excellentWe were 5 ladies, excellent waiter, a rarity in these days. The food that we selected cooked exceptionally well and had a great presentation. The low was the special $35 menu...not at all at the level of the restaurant. The scheme appears to be to attract diners then offer them a lousy selection. A real disappointment, but the food we ordered was great. I've been there before and the restaurant has kept its high standards and most definitely would go there again.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service.Excellent food and service. We had the crispy oysters, stuffed flounder, scallops, and salmon. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Definitely recommend the seafood at Bazins.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
