The eggplant and olive tapenade were excellent. BBQ shrimp were great although I don't care to shell them. Did not have the garlic soup this time but have had it in the past and is always a treat."

  • "I ordered a salad appetizer, which was okay, but had a dressing so strongly flavored I couldn't taste the greens. My scallops were also just okay because they were oversalted. There were only three on the plate, along with three slices of potato, sliced as thinly as potato chips. Given the size of the portions, it occurred to me that Bayona may be the only restaurant in all of New Orleans that does not offer bread to its diners. The dessert -- dark chocolate ice cream -- was good. Service was not: although two servers were taking care of us, neither bothered to clear dirty plates until everyone was finished. One of us was a slow eater so the other two were left sitting with dirty plates for a long time indeed."

  • "Bayona serves up some of the most amazing flavors, and is one of the top flavor experiences that I have had. The meal began with some wonderfully marinated olives and delicious bread. For appetizers, the smoked quail is superbly cooked and served with pecans and a balsamic drizzle, and the miso eggplant dish was full of flavor. The duck main course, with pieces of meat and a duck-filled tamale was beautifully cooked, with a roasted tomatillo and a mole sauce. We had an excellent Bordeaux wine that was very reasonably priced. The service was excellent, with both waiters very knowledgeable about the food and wines. The atmosphere was very comfortable. A beautiful space, in a beautiful part of the French Quarter."
