A word from Bay Kitchen Bar
Spring in the Hamptons means warm air, daffodils, and of course a crop of new restaurants. The latest is Bay Kitchen Bar, set to open Memorial Day weekend in the former Andrra space. The latest venture from chef/owner Eric Miller (of Food & Co and Miller's BBQ fame) and co-owner Richard Silver. The restaurant will offer fab waterviews, indoor/outdoor seating, marina access for boaters, and of course great food. Eric Miller will rely on his relationships with local fishermen and baymen to source the best possible quality ingredients.

Sample menu items include a raw bar menu with local littleneck clams and dishes such as Dayboat sea scallops with sweet pea risotto and roasted pepper vinaigrette or spit-roasted Long Island duck. A series of public special events is in the works, including clambakes, barbeques and whole animal roasts in Miller's BBQ smoker. We can't wait to check it out this summer.

Diner Reviews
  • "Delicious food, large portions, great service even at the busiest times, fabulous view. And not jaw droppingly expensive."

  • "Location: great. View: fabulous marina and sunset. Food: loved the tuna ceviche and entree, striped bass ceviche needed more flavor and the steak was ok. Service: hostess was nice but the server was less than interested. (for example: Gave us the drink menu thinking it was desert menu, forgot the wine, didn't ask about getting another drink for my husband or refreshing the coffee. We felt rushed as they need to seat other people. It could have been better than it was."

  • "Bread comes with a yummy tomato sauce for dipping so don't miss it (we had to ask for bread). Our food was great - fluke was fresh, plentiful and deliciously served over corn, orzo and capers. The summer vegetable salad was ok - and who thinks of cauliflower as a summer veggie? The salad contained onions, which our server assured me did not. Mushroom side is great but arrived over salted. We had to continually ask for water; busser would forget to refill all the glasses on the table. August is not the time to critique a restaurant out here, especially a new one. This place has the makings of a great spot - more training and calmer times will do the trick."

  • "what a find! Terrific food, fantastic view! We found this spot a few years ago and it has since changed hands but is still in such a beautiful location and we certainly hope it continues. Wonderful place to have in the neighborhood."

  • "Third time in as many weeks, only disappointment was the young woman at reception who put a damper on the experience when she seemed to forget that her role is to be gracious, welcoming and never rude to patrons. I came with 2 out-of-town guests and was totally embarrassed by her comments. Everyone else is so accomodating that copping "an attitude" was totally out of character and certainly inappropriate, considering her job is to make people feel good about dining there. After speaking with the "owner" the previous week, I had come expecting to be seated outdoors and found that no indication had been made for that. Other than that the food, the cabernet, all delicious. But will now think twice about making another reservation there."

  • "Our server was very good but in a very odd way, the bussing staff was rushing us out and countless times came to remove plates from the table that were obviously unfinished. We had an early reservation so it's understandable that they might need the table, but there were several empty tables at the time. Bus girl even got snippy when we asked if they needed the table."

  • "First visit to Bay Kitchen Bar this past Friday night. Was greeted by lovely staff as we entered. Had a drink at the bar and met the owner who was very charming and helpful. Our table gave us a wonderful of the sunset through large bay windows. The meals were quite good, I had the local fluke and others had the pasta with clams and halibut. Our waiter was helpful and had a wonderful smile. I'd go back but would not rush back . The restaurant has a bit of a "Hampton vibe" which you'll need to be ready for."

  • "This is a great spot with a very gracious and competent staff. The food is creative and delicious. Although mostly fish has a strong non-fish selection. The problem is the noise level. They need to do something to bring down the sound. You can not hear the people at your own table."

  • "They do try hard to please. Owner/manager personally visited tables to find out if everything was satisfactory. Unfortunately this meal, (my 2nd time, 1st for my guests), was not of the same quality as first time. Based on my recommendation, we all ordered the lobster roll. While it had large, meaty chunks of fresh lobster, it was rather bland, no seasoning to speak of. The "brioche" roll, which was indeed brioche on the first visit, tasted more like traditional hot dog rolls this time. The market salad was again superb, however, with a ton of unusual, fresh, crunchy vegetables, a lovely dressing and large enough for 3 to share; the key lime pie for dessert, also delicious, tastefully tart, and again large enough for 3 to share."

  • "Another delicious dinner. The mussels and fish and chips were great."

  • "We couldn't have had a better evening to sit on the deck by the window and see the harbor view. Fantastic. The waitstaff and hostess were very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, our appetizer, a plate of stuffed meatballs came pretty much entirely uncooked. When we sent it back, the waiter was apologetic and we were understanding. However, it returned sometime later, minus the ones we had cut into so considerably smaller in size and yet we were charged the same amount. The main courses were of ample proportion and well prepared--really quite tasty--if expensive. All and all, we would come back and try it again, particularly since the atmosphere and view made it worth while."

  • "and the food measures up. Tasty preparation, generous portions and beautiful presentation. Despite the fact that our server clearly had his fill of summer, it was an excellent dining experience."

  • "2nd time there. No wait, perfect table with great sunset view and sincerely amazing sea food. Delicious. Tasty. Perfect. Service was nice and very welcome too by Dee. Desserts are fantastic. Will surely come back. I looooove it"

  • "My friend and I split two dinners. We ordered lobster roll and fried clams. The lobster roll was good, but the fried clams although tasty were few I had three and my friend had three. If one of us had the clams for an entree, it would have been a very minimal dinner. I would suggest that instead of listing the clams as a dinner, it should be under the appetizer list. We were very unhappy."

  • "The food was good but the service was painfully slow. We arrived at 7:30 and were not served dinner until 9:00. Our waiter was distracted and even when we told him we were ready to order (twice) he walked away saying he'd be right back after taking care of something else. That ruined the experience for us - there are many many places to eat in East Hampton and surrounding towns where the food is superior and so is the service."

  • "environment very pretty- waiters-great bus boys -tables remained dirty to long food very good- obnoxious young females controlling the checkin-not nice"

  • "What we liked a lot: Tuna and Crab Ceviche, Pan Seared Fluke, crab/fish cakes, Savignon Blanc Sangria, Greek Yogurt Panna Cotta Needs work: duck was not crispy, strawberry shortcake needs more fruit and whipped cream instead of strawberry ice cream"

  • "We had a 5:00 appointment and we got there late. They still gave us a nice table. Great seafood and views, but if you want the happy hour special order enough the first time around, their reluctant to serve you if not."

  • "We were given a very good table and once the sun went down - should have brought a large-brimmed hat - we were comfortable. The view of course was gorgeous, as was the sunset. We expected this, as we have eaten at the same location many times in previous years when it was occupied by other restaurants. Our server was excellent. The noise level was bad until the woman at the adjacent table left, taking her exceptionally loud voice with her. Our main courses were delicious. We should have asked for the wine list as our house wine was disappointing. The bread was just so-so but it came with an appealing tomato sauce. The décor is terrific and the large bar area is very inviting. Will return."

  • "We have been waiting and hoping for a worthy successor to Bostwicks. Based on our recent visit, Bay Kitchen Bar seems to be it. After several misses, this wonderful space appears finally to be, not just occupied, but truly "filled" - we couldn't be more pleased!"

  • "We returned to Bay Kitchen on a beautiful night--just the kind of summer night you want to be there with the beautiful view of the harbor, ships, sky, etc. The food was excellent once again --my husband had fluke and I had the best roasted organic chicken with mashed potatoes and caramelized onions that I've had in a long time. Key lime tart for dessert was also delicious. Service ( and this was during the week--but it is August in E.Hampton) was good, but could have been better, especially with the follow up support service for the waiter, ie, bread, water, additional silverware, etc., for the table. Bay Kitchen is on our list for each visit to E.H."

  • "Owner has done a beautiful job in redoing and refurbishing. It is great! It is a very attractive place and has beautiful sunsets and views. I wish the food could be a little simpler, although, it is mostly very good. A Plain grilled fish, for example. Would be a welcome addition to the menu. The setting does not call for over the top preparation. The desserts are very, very delicious , and that is welcome. The Happy Hour is fun, good and well attended. I come her often and hope to come again soon."

  • "Greatest dinner out bc of its ease. No pretention, awesome staff. Dinner was great and we had kids with us. They LOVED it. Thanks fir a great experience!! We wil be back (maybe to the chagrin of the staff!! Haaa)"

  • "Seafood was very good but service was frantic yet slow. The maître d' getting slipped a $20 by another customer for a better table was a nice touch too."

  • "That this magnificent spot also had great food! There have been many incarnations of this space but until now the food has been less than stellar! Last night and the visit before were great- We were 4 people and tried lots of dishes and everything was excellent as was the service! My only complaint is the noise. It was quite loud . We also had to wait a half hour even with confirmed reservations. The same thing happened last time."

  • "Very friendly hostesses. Very nice bar service. Great views of the bay and sunsets. Great seafood options, well prepared and artfully presented. Loved the marinara dipping sauce with goat cheese and chunky bread on the house."

  • "The elevator conked out 3 times going up--a bit scary. There were long waits for everything--including our (miserly filled) glasses of wine while we awaited a table. The waiter first tried gently to dissuade me away from the fried clams, and finally said that the chef had taken them off the (surprisingly limited) menu for the evening. On a cool evening, we sat under chilling ceiling fans. Brrrrr! It's a noisy and pricey place. We're not going back."

  • "Our dining experience was, on the overall, quite good. However, wine ordered to arrive with our main course arrived as we almost finished dining. The waiter's explanation was: "As you can imagine, we were backed up." The restaurant was hardly full and the rest of the service was cordial and timely. In spite of this lapse, I would recommend this restaurant to those who want good food in a scenic environment."

  • "wonderful addition to the neighborhood! couldn't be a better view. Very friendly management and staff, helpful wine sommelier, all eager to please and help. Great closed in porch that is the best place for the happy hour which is a great treat--$1 oysters and $5 glass of muscadet. Only problem is that it is getting too popular! hard to get a reservation and it can get quite "lively." But we will keep going back for both the view and the food!"

  • "We had been here when it was Andros. We like the view of 3mile harbor. It was a zoo when we arrived but shockingly our table was ready. Our server said that it had gotten 4 stars in the New York Times. Which we found very difficult to believe and which turns out not to be true. It did get an excellent which is completely different and they should know better. I ordered a tasting of fish crudo which I was told was like tartare but was more like sashimi. Not a big deal. The small plate of meatballs was a huge entree size with 6 or 7 meatballs. Way too much for a small plate which makes me wonder if they doubled it.The waiter was very sweaty , attentive in the beginning and absen after. We had to ask for our drinks and the check many times."

  • "I requested a table with some caveats that were ignored, however, the hostess upgraded our location immediately when we protested. We, a party of 3, ended up with far too much food because portions are generous. We ordered two main courses- clams on pasta and crab cakes….both were outstanding. We also ordered calamari and a lobster roll. Both were excellent and fish was very fresh. We also ordered a plate of dips with pita and that was so delicious but so unnecessary because the restaurant serves a plate of pita with a tomato dip --also scrumptious. Service was amazing…dirty dishes, etc cleared immediately Only complaint-- imaginative bar drinks that are pretty small and weak. We'll come again, but order differently."

  • "The view on the harbor is always great, especially at sunset. The menu is ambitious; perhaps lobster ravioli (chunks of lobster, but served too cool with an overwhelming tomato saffron sauce) and duck (over cooked on the breast but over a nice salad) were not good choices. Very nice crusty bread was served with a strange tomato pasty dipping sauce with feta cheese on top (??). Our server was training someone, which is fine, but not ok to be surly with them and berate them at the table making her, and us, uncomfortable. Pannacota was served with a berry compote but was too heavy. Might return.... different wait staff.... try something more simple...... Love the seetting"

  • "I frequently dine out and had heard the buzz about this restaurant so my wife and I gave it a try. I was kept waiting for 25 minutes after my reservation time for my table and incredibly that was the best service I had all evening. The servers were inattentive and my dinner took well over an hour to be served. I finished my appetizer course which arrived 20 minutes after I ordered it ( cold seafood from raw bar ) and then waited 35 minutes before asking where my black and blue tuna entree was. I walked out and left my dinner behind because the attitude of the manager was poor at best... So many better spots in East Hampton, this place is hype and no substance, you should take a pass.."
