A word from Bay Kitchen Bar
Spring in the Hamptons means warm air, daffodils, and of course a crop of new restaurants. The latest is Bay Kitchen Bar, set to open Memorial Day weekend in the former Andrra space. The latest venture from chef/owner Eric Miller (of Food & Co and Miller's BBQ fame) and co-owner Richard Silver. The restaurant will offer fab waterviews, indoor/outdoor seating, marina access for boaters, and of course great food. Eric Miller will rely on his relationships with local fishermen and baymen to source the best possible quality ingredients.

Sample menu items include a raw bar menu with local littleneck clams and dishes such as Dayboat sea scallops with sweet pea risotto and roasted pepper vinaigrette or spit-roasted Long Island duck. A series of public special events is in the works, including clambakes, barbeques and whole animal roasts in Miller's BBQ smoker. We can't wait to check it out this summer.

All summer we heard about this great new spot and also heard the wait list was MASSIVE. First try, with lots of positive suggestions in hand, this week. The location on the water is great so get a table before the sun goes down. The bar, drink while you wait, is also very large and it's tempting to suggest they expand the dining room. When we got in the restaurant (20 minute wait on reservation...) the suggestions = oysters, meatballs and any fish featured (this evening was an incredible swordfish special) were all so great that I wished I had room to order more. Next resrevation? Making it now.

Good thing a friend recommended Bay Kitchen as it is certainly off the beaten path near Southampton. Once you arrive after a beautiful country drive you are welcomed to the sight of the boats and water with the sunset in the background. We were there on a crisp cool night and the scenery was breathtaking. We were warmly greeted as if we were locals and while it was a bit of tight quarters we were able to really sit back and enjoy the view outside. The meatballs I had were outstanding and my husbands ceviche where yummy too. Then you get to the desserts and they are truly a work of art and delicious too. This restaurant will be high on my list of priorities when we get back that way next year.

This is simply one of the most picturesque and delightful locations in the Hamptons. The food is fresh and the late afternoon offering of fresh local raw oysters and $5 glasses of wine makes this a special place to watch sunsets.

Bay Kitchen is a lovely place and even better after the crazy summer season, so try to get there before November 1. We sat near the open terrace windows with a view of the harbor. Food was a delicious as ever (Fluke entree, fluke, scallop and crab cake appetizer). Unfortunately, they had run out of the yummy red sauce that usually accompanies bread (had to ask for bread - this seems to be a new trend everywhere). The chocolate dessert was good - would have been amazing if served at room temperature rather than chilled from the fridge. Service was gracious and warm. And best - no wait for a table after summer season!

This restaurant has been a variety of names over the years and has the most magnificent view of the sunset in all the Hamptons. Now a restaurant has opened worthy of the view. The food at Bay Kitchen Bar is simply superb! The scallops with corn salsa pictured in Hamptons magazine are well worth the trip and the appetizer meatballs are delish -- more like a main course then an appetizer. All in all a great meal with nicely sized portions.

After having had some positive experiences dining here over e summer, this last time was 180 degree difference. Service was awful from very pushy to totally aloof and not splitting dishes which were done previously during much busier evenings. Suppose the summer stuff left and now they seem to be cutting corners with service and food preparation, as well. As sun is setting earlier, don't see a real reason to eat here again,

Bay Kitchen Bar is one of the best overall restaurants I've ever experienced. I crave to go back every week. The quality of the food, portion & presentations are superb and delicious. The Deserts alone are the best on the East End and are worth the trip alone. The views of the water are art gallery worthy. The servers have been friendly, attentive, courteous and accommodating despite the crowd. The prices are very fair and reasonable considering the excellence of their overall execution, superb food, amazing views and great service. I literally race past over a dozen top restaurants just to get here with a smile.

This was our 5th visit this summer. Food was great but the support service was very disappointing. For example, bread arrived after the appetizer even though it was asked for AFTER the order was given; ice was not delivered when promised; ice tea arrived way after the drinks arrived; water was glasses were not refilled; and entree dishes stayed on the table way after every one was finished. Hopefully, this bad support service was an aberration from usual top notch support service.

Loved the casual resort like feel of the place. Sat on the outside deck by the rail, overlooking the marina with beautiful sunset views. We were greeted promptly by our server to take out cocktail order. For dinner, I started with the raw oysters topped with fresh mango and herbs. My friend had the grilled octopus salad with couscous. Our main course consisted of Lobster and Grilled Snapper. If you're a seafood lover, this is the place for you. Everything was deliciously fresh! I'd go back again and again and again.

Sent my margarita back as it tasted like lemon juice. Not a good start. Then the waiter served my husbands Pinot Gris to me and gave my Chardonnay to him in his Pinot Gris glass. I sent the Chardonnay back as something was floating in it, but it was poured improperly to begin with. Cerviche and crudo were very good, my husband loved his pasta with baby clams. My striped bass was okay but nothing outstanding. One of the runners kept knocking my purse off the back of my chair which didn't help with a so-so experience. I understand the view is outstanding, but need decent food and great service should be mandatory.

Over cooked, dry, tasteless fish at a seafood restaurant overlooking the water. And it was one of the specials! Inattentive service to the point where the waiter forgot to bring one of the main courses we ordered and we had to ask three times for a glass of wine. At the end of the meal the waiter didn't even ask if we wanted anything else, he simply put the check on our table without our asking for it and walked away. Would never go back.

It took 1/2 hour to get our appetizers and after clearing the appetizers we were waiting another 1/2 hour and still no dinner. We had just told the waiter to cancel dinner when that finally came. My husband's scallops were cold. The food was just ok... nothing special. I doubt we will be back, at least not for a long time until they get the kitchen squared away... It's a shame since the setting is so lovely....

This year's Hampton's hot spot is worth it. Go early for the sunset views over Three Mile Harbor. The menu is varied ; the tuna was excellent. The small plates are very good , although the fisherman's stew was heavy on broth and minimal with seafood on this occasion. Desserts are creative and certainly large enough to be shared. Try going during the week when it's somehat less crowded.

Location: great. View: fabulous marina and sunset. Food: loved the tuna ceviche and entree, striped bass ceviche needed more flavor and the steak was ok. Service: hostess was nice but the server was less than interested. Bread comes with a yummy tomato sauce for dipping so don't miss it (we had to ask for bread). Our food was great - fluke was fresh, plentiful and deliciously served over corn, orzo and capers. The summer vegetable salad was ok - and who thinks of cauliflower as a summer veggie? The salad contained onions, which our server assured me did not. Mushroom side is great but arrived over salted. We had to continually ask for water; busser would forget to refill all the glasses on the table. August is not the time to critique a restaurant out here, especially a new one. This place has the makings of a great spot - more training and calmer times will do the trick.

Third time in as many weeks, only disappointment was the young woman at reception who put a damper on the experience when she seemed to forget that her role is to be gracious, welcoming and never rude to patrons. I came with 2 out-of-town guests and was totally embarrassed by her comments. Everyone else is so accomodating that copping "an attitude" was totally out of character and certainly inappropriate, considering her job is to make people feel good about dining there. After speaking with the "owner" the previous week, I had come expecting to be seated outdoors and found that no indication had been made for that. Other than that the food, the cabernet, all delicious. But will now think twice about making another reservation there.

They do try hard to please. Owner/manager personally visited tables to find out if everything was satisfactory. Unfortunately this meal, (my 2nd time, 1st for my guests), was not of the same quality as first time. Based on my recommendation, we all ordered the lobster roll. While it had large, meaty chunks of fresh lobster, it was rather bland, no seasoning to speak of. The "brioche" roll, which was indeed brioche on the first visit, tasted more like traditional hot dog rolls this time. The market salad was again superb, however, with a ton of unusual, fresh, crunchy vegetables, a lovely dressing and large enough for 3 to share; the key lime pie for dessert, also delicious, tastefully tart, and again large enough for 3 to share.
