A word from Bay Kitchen Bar
Spring in the Hamptons means warm air, daffodils, and of course a crop of new restaurants. The latest is Bay Kitchen Bar, set to open Memorial Day weekend in the former Andrra space. The latest venture from chef/owner Eric Miller (of Food & Co and Miller's BBQ fame) and co-owner Richard Silver. The restaurant will offer fab waterviews, indoor/outdoor seating, marina access for boaters, and of course great food. Eric Miller will rely on his relationships with local fishermen and baymen to source the best possible quality ingredients.

Sample menu items include a raw bar menu with local littleneck clams and dishes such as Dayboat sea scallops with sweet pea risotto and roasted pepper vinaigrette or spit-roasted Long Island duck. A series of public special events is in the works, including clambakes, barbeques and whole animal roasts in Miller's BBQ smoker. We can't wait to check it out this summer.

We didn't have to wait but we met friends who waited over 30 minutes to be seated for a 7 o'clock reservation. Food was adequate. Waiter was very pleasant and accommodating but wasn't there when dinner was served to the wrong table"

  • "Great seafood and seaside dining at the mouth of Three Mile Harbor...these alone, along with the sunset, have always made this spot worth it. I had a perfect Striped Bass plate. The $14 mojito was awesome, but I expected to be billed 50% for happy hour but I guess that doesn't apply to the specialty cocktails?In general, its an overpriced place, but to be expected. That said, can't beat the Happy Hour $1 Oysters and Clams on the half shell. Well worth a visit."

  • "Unfortunately, the owners have under-invested in help. Too few wait staff, poorly trained bus staff...lots of things like asking if I want more water whenever my water glass was empty, but without a pitcher in their hand. Happened every time I emptied the glass. Just fill it up for Pete' sake! Service was never ahead of ball...always playing defense, terribly inefficient. The hostess was completely stressed and let it show...our table was 40 minutes late. Never saw a manager on the floor, which is what this place desperately needs to keep staff moving. That said, the food was decent....striped bass was great.. the seafood platter however, was very disappointing...stingy and expensive."

  • "We called in the morning to adjust our reservation from 6 to 8 and never got a response. When we arrived we were told by the hostess that she had 43 voicemails and couldn't respond. As a result we were jammed into a small table. The waiter was clearly overwhelmed. We had to press him to check with the kitchen with regards to a food allergy. That being said, the food was very good and we will try it again."

  • "This restaurant benefits from being right on the bay. But this cant make up for the poor food quality. Ordered lobster. Overpriced for the amount of meat. Clams and linguine was inedible. The clams were fishy and tough. Ordered fish and chips and the batter was soggy. Overall a big disappointment!"

  • "My 4th time at the Bay Kitchen Bar and the food continues to be great, although a little more pricey since it first opened. While we were greeted nicely, service is still spotty. We were given menus and water right away, but had to flag down someone for bread and did not see a waiter at our table for over 20 minutes. Obviously the waiter did not know he had our table. Seems to be lots of staff, but they need to be more attentive and get priorities straight."

  • "Awesome experience. The grass-fed chicken with the squash and mashed potatoes were super flavorful. The skin was cooked the perfection (browned and crispy). The chicken was moist, and the addition of squash perfected the dish. The tuna ceviche w/ avocado was a refreshing foil to the chicken. Light and not fishy at all. I ordered a French martini (classic and well-made), and my boyfriend ordered the blackberry julep (tasty & strong with a nice presentation). The maître d Kathy did everything in her power to get us the best seat in the house. When we made our reservation, she was sure to note a food allergy. Our server Anthony was very attentive to that as well. We'll definitely be back."

  • "A couple of issues at the restaurant, which used to be our favorite from its Bostwick's days. First of all the place has never looked better- Just some management issues. We made a reservation for 4+ a high chair. We got to the restaurant and there were no high chairs available. We then order two salads and fried clams to start. It took more than an hour for this to be served! Managers were all over the restaurant, but no one came to apologize for our wait or check on our order. The shame is that the food was sensational- the duck, swordfish, and soft-shell crabs were great. About 2 hours was too long for us to order dessert. Beautiful views and great food, but service has to improve in a big way."

  • "The bay kitchen is special. The staff immediately makes you feel welcome. The food is fabulous and the portions generous. They have several non fish dishes so even a carnivore can share the experience. The view over the bay is the perfect setting, especially for sunset. We have already been there three times and everyone we have taken has loved it! I would say it is a hidden treasure that is quickly being discovered"

  • "Overall we enjoyed our dining experience. The service was good and the food was priced well with interesting choices. The steward was able to suggest and allow us to taste the wine before ordering the bottle. The duck and striped bass were wonderful but the soft shell crab was disappointing. The dessert with ice cream and fudge seemed not to have ice cream! We were not rushed and we were able to enjoy our evening until the sun set. We would recommend it even though it was pretty loud for good conversation. "

  • "Five friends and I were spending the weekend in East Hampton and made a reservation at Bay Kitchen Bar due to its great reviews. While the food we did receive was great, they had already run out of a lot of things we wanted to order and the service left a lot to be desired. While my friends and I are not residents of East Hampton, it seemed very apparent that we were not of our server and the manager's utmost concern even though we were paying just as much as any other table there. The waiter never greeted us, just asked us what kind of water we wanted, our food order was put in very late, thus food came out at different times and we never received our sides order. The manager did end up comp-ing us a dessert due to the delay."

  • "The food was excellent. The service although very friendly was not up to the food. We never received bread, and had to reguest dessert forks and then again coffee spoons. The coffee was really cold which leaves a poor impression after such a great meal. After serving, the waiter was difficult to find and we had to ask another waiter who seemed more seasoned to bring us the utensils we needed."

  • "Overall a terrible experience; got seated 30min late after attitude from the hostess, the lounge area didn't have enough staff so it took forever to order a drink, once seated the service was lousy (never cleaned away plates before apps and main, stacked plates on the table, unattentive, etc) and it simply felt very unorganized and unprofessional. I don't think it was new restaurant kinks as the waiters didn't seem to be on top of it. Even getting the check took 10min. That said, the food was totally good, but that unfortunately doesn't make up for the negative experience. "

  • "From beginning to end, there were mishaps. To start, after our drinks were delivered and food order taken, we never got the bread that was at every other table. An hour later, the food came out. The oysters were the smallest I have ever seen served in a restaurant and the order for 3 people were put on 1 tray; however we had to ask for individual plates. In the entree department, the major miss was the clam bellies. They were just fried breading with tiny bits of clam - so disappointing! We ordered three desserts, one of which was delivered 15 minutes after the first two. It seems that the waiter hadn't put in the order; the coffee was cold. We had to repeatedly ask for forks and spoons. I was expecting more but received less."

  • "Having been to this restaurant numerous times in seasons past when it was run by different people and under different names, we were pleasantly surprised, at first. THe restaurant has been very nicely renovated and has a crisp attractive decor and nicer flow than in the past. The food was pretty good as well. However, two things turned us off: watery $14 cocktails and disorganized, lax service. In the end we give it a "B". The view remains very nice - but maybe better for happy hour. "

  • "Beautiful spot on the harbor with great sunsets. Open for 6 weeks, the service still has a ways to go, but I thought the food was pretty amazing. I want to go back to try everything. My spouse and I split the steamed mussels which was a huge portion. I might add the portions here are quite large. The mussels were so perfectly cooked that they just melted in the mouth. Not a dry mussel in the bowl. The broth had a slight saffron color, no cream, and was just yummy. We had a lobster roll which was large and tasty. A bit too much mayo, but lovely. The fluke on top of a bed of orzo and vegetables was heavenly. The fluke was perfectly cooked, moist and meaty. "
