Our server was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. We had the grilled shrimp appetizer, and couldn't believe how huge the portion was! My steak entree was cooked perfectly, and the bacon and bleu cheese potatoes side item is not to be missed. The price point is excellent for the quality of food.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best of the LakeMy husband and I ate dinner at Baxter's Memorial Day weekend. we ordered the crab cakes the Best of Baxter's which was their scallops and 6 oz filet with smashed potatoes and we ordered the gooey butter cake for dessert which we took home. The dining room is big and open but still gives you a sense of privacy. Has gorgeous views of the lake all around. The wait staff was very attentive and was very informed.
The crab cakes were very good and with the feta, a great pairing. The filet was a little overcooked for medium rare, but, was so tender, I didn't care. the scallops were seared perfectly and tasted amazing. when we return, instead of smashed potatoes, we will opt for the baked potato. We like to take visitors there as we know the food etc. will always be impressive.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOur New Favorite PlaceFriends had taken us there once before and we were impressed with the service and food and decided to try it again to celebrate Mother's Day and our 30th Anniversary. We were not disappointed. The owner greeted us and wished us a Happy Anniversary (I had indicated the occasion on my reservation request through Open Table). We had to wait a few minutes for the table they had selected for us, but it was certainly worth it. We could see up and down the lake and it was spectacular.
Ellie, our server, was very attentive and efficient. She took our photo and then came back a few minutes later with the picture in a frame!

First, the service was supreme!! Our waitress was outstanding! The scenic view was incredible. We overlooked the lake and had a group of eight hawks that entertained us flying across the cliffs, the lake, and by our window view. Just breathtaking. Then came the food (after the delicious lemontinis). The food was magnificent. Delicious. Scrumptious. Mouthwatering. Sorry, I can't say enough. It was superb! Then, our waitress brought my wife a cheesecake slice with lighted candle. She took our picture. I assumed she would get my email to send it to me, but they actually had a cardboard framed Baxter picture waiting for us on our way out! The food we had was delicious, especially the chicken tortilla soup, wasabi smashed potatoes, sweet potato smashed potatoes, and bread. The only issue on this trip was the sirloin steaks. We ordered them medium, and they came out medium well. In addition, the steaks were a little grisly in parts. This was different from my last experience there when the steaks were perfect. In this case finding a nice restaurant on a Sunday night during low season at the Lake is a bit difficult. Through Open Table, there were about five, and thankfully, Baxter's was one of them. Even though we were the last table for them that night, we were not felt rushed at all. My wife had her favorite which was the Tim's salad. I had the meatloaf. All of it very good. We should have stopped there but we had the brownie, ice cream and caramel dessert. It was enough to feed four! Service was very good.
