    Service was amazing: helpful, funny, and friendly. I was with my girlfriend and our server was totally charming, making her feel special while cleverly including me on the flirt. I'm sure he made bank at the table of 8 women next to us. Haha. The mixologist created a delicious original cocktail for my girlfriend. She challenged him with liquids she felt might not go together and he came through. I had the Jasmine Gin Fix. Whoa. Food was great. Primarily local ingredients and personal recipes of the chef. They were serving 8 or 9 of their most popular dishes from the last few months. This restaurant is highly recommended for a fun and sexy dinner. Oh and the place starts grooving around 9. We were there from 830-1030. Perfect.

    We had a 9:30 reservation, so we saw the transition of restaraurant to lounge scene. The food was spot on for quality. Generous portions of beautiful, flavorful food. The drinks were also very well made. We enjoyed the salmon tartare garnished with crisps, the mixed marinated mushrooms, the oysters with several possible dressings including fresh grated horseradish, the beef on a chopping block (the fresh market veggies) fit to serve a large group! And the apple crisp in a jar. The food service was slow but very friendly and attentive between courses. so if you're not in a hurry, there's nothing to worry about! I would definitely go back for a special occasion with a group.

    Had the menu degustation for the second time. Could not be happier and the amount of food served at this restaurant is out of this world. Highly recommend if gluttony is what you're seeking.

    We loved the food! The menu was unique and catered to the freshness of the season. We went in November so there were dishes using squash, pumpkin, varied mushrooms and apples. The catch of the day was scallops and they were cooked perfectly!!!! We had oysters, the appetiser special beef with lots of unique mushrooms, and a desert to die for!!! Great service, amazing decor, and delicious food!!!

    Food was delicious, service was excellent, drinks were great, there were a lot of people and it was a bit loud but overall the dining experience surpassed our expectations. I would recommend for a party of 4-6 or more.

    We were so lucky to have the special made non-alcoholic drinks from the thoughtful bar "specialist" bubble with mint and quebec maple syrup, lemon juice .... very refreshing! This relieves a bit of the food coming with a slow pace.

    I don't need to speak about the food because it's always top notch. Beyond that, something that isn't mentioned enough is the service! The service at Baxo is and has always been unbelievably excellent -- friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Every time im there I'm reminded of how great the staff is.

    Had made the reservation last minute, wasn't my first choice, so the expectations were low. Got there around 9PM and didn't seem like anything was happening, also since it is located in the more touristic part of the Old Port (in October). As time went by the place came alive and what an experience. We started with an appetizer for 2, the salmon tartar - excellent, my girlfriend had the duck poutine and I ordered steak and fries - both were outstanding. Honestly one of the best dinning experiences in a long time - will go back (we actually have another reservation :D ). Music sets a nice ambiance and the crowd is mixed.

    we had an outstanding experience. Ask for menu dégustation - you wont be disappointed. The chef was very generous. Our waiter and sommelier were nice, friendly and more importantly spot on on their recommendations and wine pairings. this was our first visit and it wont be our last.

    We made a reservation and when we got there on time, they had given our table away. We sat the bar, and didn't receive any service, for 45min before we were seated. Once seated it was another 45 min before we had a drink (1.5hours in total at this point) and an appetizer was another hour after that. All in all, we had 1 drink, 1 appetizer and 1 entree in 4 hours- Awful!

    This is my 4th time at the restaurant, food was good, first time i have other than the tartare, i had an amazing dorado that althought they say for two is for 3 even 4 ppl, didnt like that it was wayyyy to loud...love the Australian waiter, he is the best waiter in town , the way he describes the food it's just a seller! Yet on nthe weekends when they have groups they don't pay any attention to the small tables! And music is too loud when they still are serving diner... They should pump up the music once the kitchen is about to close! No good of a date....

    The food is very comforting, and tasty; and their service is good. As other fellow visitors to this restaurant have mentioned, their menu is a little short. For foodies, and those who are not afraid of trying something new, it is a great little place to spend a good time with friends. But if you don't enjoy things like fresh oysters or beef cheek, then you might find yourself reading the menu over and over again. I'm a foodie, and I really enjoyed it! Bon Apetit!

    Very nice restaurant and enjoyable eating experience. Menu was concise but offered enough for all tastes (fish, meat, etc...but maybe a bit short on veggies). Food was very tasty, served warm and relatively quickly. Service was professional with good explanations of the menu offerings and proper follow up on how our meal was going. Only downside was the music, which always seemed a bit to loud (DJ was on hand playing a variety of hip-hop). All in all, a nice place and we would return.

    Enjoyed a fine dinner with my wife on 4/7/12. Started out sharing a dozen super fresh oysters along with 2 of their specialty Gin cocktails. Selected a bottle of red wine from their reasonably priced list to enjoy with our mains: Artic Char & Beef Cheek. Our meals were both delicious. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. We had a great experience and just can't understand why this place wasn't packed on a Saturday night. What's up Montreal? You should all be here.

    Hostess not keen on being helpfull. Reserved for two. Told her we might have a friend join us, could we possibly have a table that could sit three. Were told the place was fully booked. What a surprise, by the time we left, four hours later, restaurant was half full!!! Thank goodness our waitress was awesome! Manager also went around, twice, to make sure patrons were happy! That little attention made up for our first try of Baxo, for food & menu very ordinairy, nothing original.

    Très beau restaurant dans le Vieux-Montréal, service excellent, nourriture excellente (tartare de saumon, joue de boeuf), le cocktail à la poire est excellent et le plateau de dessert vraiment bon surtout la creme brulée au café et les brownies. Nous y retournerons aussitôt que possible!

    Nous avons été décus du restaurant. Il vient d'ouvrir il y a quelques mois et nous constatons que le tout n'est pas a point (quelques vins sur la liste n'étaient pas disponible ainsi que quelques plats sur la courte liste déjà existante). La réservation était pour 20h30 et l'endroit était vide (heureusement que deux groupes sont arrivés vers 21h30 pour mettre un peu d'ambiance). Je retenterais l'expérience mais dans quelques mois le temps que le restaurent s'adapte un peu.

    butternut squash soup was to die for. We both had beef dishes which were well done but a little more variety of dishes on the menu would have been appreciated. The creme brulie was excellent. Even though we couldn't remember the name of the other desert, it was of the chocolate variety and was equally delightful.The service was excellent with all the courses arriving in good order/ no delays.

    I'll preface this by saying overall that the day I went it had just gone under new management and it was one of the first days. So the food was pretty good, our pasta was a tad salty. Upon hearing our complaint, the owner was quick to rectify the situation and offer some complementary drinks which was very appreciated. My only major complaint was that throughout the night we had four different waiters which seem to lead to some confusion. Would definitely go again though.

    Overall I would give it a 4/10. First, we had too many waiters. We were asked way too many times if everything was okay. Normally it's bad when nobody is there for you but in this case, there was a lack of communication between all the waiters that we had. Second, the food was pretty tasteless. I had the scallops, they were pretty boring for 30$ Third, make sure you have all the wines on you wine list. Fourth, I asked the waiter what the cheeses were and he didn't know. There was supposed to be 4 kinds and only 2 ended up in my plate. Fifth, the brasilian café was served in a "verre ballon"...wrong! Overall they were making an effort, were smiling and welcoming. But there was too many things wrong that I won't be back there.
