Drew Nieporent’s long commitment to Tribeca continues in the space that housed the legendary Montrachet and Corton. Chef/partner Markus Glocker’s modern European menu reflects his Austrian heritage and diverse experiences (Gordon Ramsay, Charlie Trotter). Dishes like Octopus “Pastrami,” Roasted Beets Linzer and Veal Tenderloin “Tramezzini” are inventive and delicious. Diners may order two ($55), three ($65) or four courses ($75) - fixed prices that represent excellent value. Managing partner John Winterman, former longtime maître d’ at Daniel, welcomes you to a relaxed setting warmed by golden light and cozy banquettes.   • "The Prix Fix menu at Batard is a bargain. We chose 4 courses for $75. My favorite dish by far was the risotto. The portion was quite large, it was rich and delicious. The trout was also a nice portion for an appetizer. It was a lot like Char, simple and tasty. I had the schnitzel special as someone recommended it. It was nice but not as special as the other items we ordered. The sides were more interesting in fact. My husband had the pea soup which he enjoyed and a light fish dish. The desserts were interesting and quite good. My only lament was that the cocktail menu was a bit limited. I was in the mood for something fun and summery and nothing struck my fancy."

  • "To be fair, I have to give high marks to Betard, though if it becomes too popular, getting a reservation will be difficult. The food is wonderful: first course, lobster and octopus; second course, branzino and schnitzel. Drinks: ol dirty batard (similar to a Manhattan), glasses of Riesling and pinot noir. Lots of staff, seamless service. We didn't feel rushed, but the time between courses could have been a little more. The menu is limited and I hope there will be periodic, seasonal changes, though everything on the current menu sounds worth trying."

  • "I admit a certain nostalgia for the old Montrachet...it only sets the scene of course for Batard which currently occupies the same space. Classilly decorated, the food, drink and service are the stars of the show. The concept of 2/3/4 course "make your own: prix fix, just adds to the comfort and enjoyment. Yeah, it's loud, but that too adds a certain energy. Knowlegable and dedicated staff pull it all together. While I understand it, I do, on principle, object to providing what amouts to a reservation deposit. Has to be a better way, don't you think? Won't stop me from going again...just have to make sure that I show up!"

  • "the food is great and drew does know food and wine the place is way too noisy in an effort to make it casual there is lots of wood and no noise control so....it gets a bit annoying after a while the chef is a master food was impeccable in taste and looks there were maybe 5 wine stewards and ONE WAITER it took forever to order but wine was quick i am sure he will fix all this"

  • "I recently had the pleasure of dining at Batard, and I'm so greatful I did. From the hostess, to the servers, to the menu concept and food execution....perfection. The menu reflects a well rounded selection of fresh and seasonal specialties. Optional tasting menu was very versatile and well priced! The sommelier paired a lovely wine for us, again affordable. Chef Glocker is a true talent, and I'm so glad I followed him to Batard. I will be back, although I'm sure once the NY Times reviews Batard making reservations will be difficult."

  • "For having so many staff members, the service was not what I expected. I'm a customer who doesn't like to be bothered during my meal and I prefer knowledgeable waiters over amicable cheerleaders; however, the waitstaff was not particularly attuned to our needs. I took my husband to Batard for his birthday. We were asked to wait for a table even though I had a reservation and there were plenty of empty tables in sight. The menu was great - the food was good. However, the countless members of the staff were superfluous. The soup was brought out without the proper utensil. My husband's birthday, which I had noted in my reservation, was forgotten. We left without the birthday candles and with mediocre birthday memories."

  • "Food: great, Experience: LONG. The concept seemed great, you choose either a 3 course/4 course menu and you can select as many courses our of each category you want. It can be: 1 app, 1 entrée 2 desserts, or all 4 entrees, or all 4 desserts. Etc. The problem is, 1 person ordered 3 mains and another ordered dessert and the rest of us did not. Since we all ordered 4 courses, we figured we'd each get our 1st course together, 2nd course together, etc. That is not how it works. If only 1 person orders an app, the rest of the people have to sit and wait WITH NO FOOD. So in turn our four course dinner turned out to be a 7 course menu because we had to wait for everyone elses courses WHILE WE HAD NO FOOD AND AWKWARDLY STARED."

  • "This sleek yet warm new space in the former Montrachet is welcoming and lively, but the only real reason to go: the food is exquisite. A focused menu features inventive, nourishing options. Highly recommend - especially for the octopus pastrami (trust me), the luscious turbot, and the respectfully treated veal. Dessert was sensational as well. Wine list is curated nicely and there is a lovely Puligney Montrachet on the by the glass list - always welcome. Like most restaurants these days, The noise levels are deafening and could be enough to keep some diners away. It's unfortunate - the only mark on this otherwise splendid option in TriBeCa."

  • "Food is phenomenal. We had the pea soup, the tortellini and the risotto. All were superb. We shared the lamb which was excellently prepared. The noise level is a bit high because the floors are wood as are the table tops. No table cloths here, which is sad because the quality of the food is so high. The crowd was a mix of men in cuff-links and their bejeweled wives travelling down from Restaurant Daniel, and younger, less formally dressed locals. Not sure who will prevail over time. Wish the noise level was a bit lower and the sound system was not so loud. We will definitely return, though, because the food is truly outstanding."

  • "Loved our first visit to Batard to see the third reincarnation of this lovely space--we've been to all three incarnations. We greatly prefer this version to the previous Corton version which was too fussy for our personal taste. The food at Batard was uniformly delicious and beautifully presented, --particularly loved the octopus pastrami and the turbot, and my husband loved the lamb. The service was a bit uneven--it took 20 minutes to get all our cocktails--but this is not unusual in a new place. We definitely will be going back again and again for the amazing food."

  • "We went to Batard last week and really liked the food and the service. The simple "menu-carte" is easy to handle and adapt to your hunger/budget. The service was really good too, so the only thing we regret is the noise level, but unfortunately this seems to be the case of most NYC restaurante (upper class or not)."

  • "We went on night 4 of the restaurant being open, so there were definitely still some kinks they were working out. The food was great — will definitely be going back — but the service still needs some work. Frankly, the servers were just not attentive enough. It took 15 minutes or so to get bread and butter — something that should have happened right away, especially since the restaurant wasn't very busy when we arrived. I'm hoping this is just a problem that comes with having recently opened. That said, the food was fantastic and we can't wait to go back."
