  • "Awesome for a personal date night :) They delivered a dessert free of charge because I wrote my fiances birthday on the reservation!"

  • "Service was great and so was the food. It was a great place for a larger group and the waitress was great and making sure we got out to make a show we had tickets for Would have liked to have beer other than there brewed beer."

  • "We loved this restaurant! The atmosphere was great!! Food and drinks were awesome as well! We will definitely be back."

  • "My boyfriend and I went to dinner here for a date night. The Ambience was very nice, especially in the smaller side room. It's much more intimate and quiet in this area. The larger room can be quite noisy and difficult to hear your date. I would definitely recommend, if you're looking for a quiet date, to request the side room. The service was great and the waiter attentive."

  • "The menu wasn't as impressive as the prices would lead you to believe it was. Aside from the live music (which was an interesting, although maybe out of place, touch), the atmosphere seemed a little disjointed to me. Dessert was great. All things considered, though, we should have walked on through to the Monk Bar (mmmm, duck fat fries!)."

  • "The food was subpar for a restaurant of this type. Service was not so good. Overall just a bad experience and will never go back to this restaurant."

  • "I hosted a business and wanted to take them to a nice Royal Oak spot. Bastone did not disappoint. We all enjoyed the food and the welcoming atmosphere."

  • "We were disappointed with our experience. This was our first time at Bastone. I had the Fillet and it was dry. The Potatoes and veggies were very greasy. Crab cakes, 3 sausage appetizers and dessert were great. Our waitress was a bit of a ding bat. We would eventually get what we asked for but not right away, after that particular course was over.. We had to constantly be reminding her. There were very few people in the place and the dinner took forever. We would probably not go back."

  • "I love Bastones! The food is great! I just always have slow service. I think its because they have to few wait staff. I see the wait staff running around and having way too many tables so it takes forever to get served. However I love the food and beer selection! I went there right after my boyfriend proposed...and he knew he had to take me to my favorite restaurant! The brewery steak sandwich is to die for. Plus the mac and cheese and filet migonettes. I havent had a bad meal there!"

  • "We went to Bastone for my birthday dinner and the two of us couldn't get enough of the Mammoet sauce, which was to die for. I also had their Triple, which was delicious, as well as the Potato Leek Soup which was equally as good. The fries were definitely the stars of the night. Just wish there were Liege waffles on the menu and everything would've been perfect. But for a Belgian food lover in the US, this was great."

  • "Our waiter was great. Great selection of beer and specialty drinks. The menu fits any occasion. You can go high end entree or grab an incredible sandwich, or a pizza. It's all been delicious so far."

  • "Even w/ reservations we still had to wait, but without them the wait would have been closer to 1 hour not 10 mins. The menu isn't extensive but has something for almost everyone on it. Had artichoke fritters (so-so), Leuven waffle (decent, but probably won't get again - it was missing something & the sauce was a bit sweet) & scallops (cooked perfectly & very good - would get again). The wine selection while limited (to be expected for a brew pub) is nice and mainly European which is what we prefer. The beer was good & true to style. This place would be good for both a group (get a table) and a romantic date (get a booth). Looking forward to visiting again."

  • "Our grouped dined here and was a good experience as usual. Good beer selection, good food and good atmosphere. It took a little longer for one appetizer but the waitress and manager were very apologetic and offered free desert for all. Reservation process was very easy and went smooth. Will definitely come here again! Thanks!"

  • "As always, the food was great, but the service on our latest visit was less than adequate. I had made reservations for a party of six and our four partners arrived before we did and were seated in the "Monk" section which is more crowded and noisy than the front section of Bastone. Had I arrived first, I would have requested another table. Our sever was totally disorganized and could not really explain some of the selections to guests who had not dined there before. Our meals arrived in a haphazard fashion and there was a great lag between courses. Since we wanted a leisurely dinner, I did not mind the delays, but would have been perturbed had we been in a hurry. To top it off, our checks were wrong. But We will return for the food."

  • "First time experience at the Bastone Brewery and it was a great one. The food was tremendous (especially the seafood waterzooi), the wait staff was on top of their game, and the place was busy. Even though it is a brewery with plenty of beer choices, the selections for wine and vodka made it easy for everyone to enjoy the beverage of their choice.Although the place was crowded, you could easily hold a conversation at your booth without raising your voice. Since all facets of the dining experience were extremely good, we plan to return in the future."

  • "This is not my first time at Bastone. I like the place and I return once in a while. I had reservation for lunch. Everything was freshly cooked. Two knowledgeable young ladies waited on us with pertinent recommendations. A perfect choice on a cold winter day. It was worth driving from Detroit to Royal Oak just to have lunch."

  • "really enjoyed the food, the Mac and cheese is fantastic and the flat bread is great. also, the service was awesome, our waiter was the nicest guy! overall a great place to go at anytime. took my girlfriend here for valentines day this year and we had a great time!"

  • "We loved the food. We had guests in from out of town and wanted to take them to unique restaurant and they loved they food. Our service was a little slow and it we had to get our own silverware after asking for it a couple of times. Otherwise everyone was very professional and we really enjoyed our night. We waited at the bar for our table and the bar staff was great. I was looking for a new drink and they were great at making suggestions and I loved my drink."

  • "Exciting choices on the extensive menu, in appetizers, mains, and desserts. I had the Onglet (hangar steak) which was done to perfection, and enhanced with the blue cheese topping. Others in my group had the scallops, and fish and chips, which they reported as excellent as well. Loved the selection of beers, unfortunately missed the option of selecting a flight of beers as that would have been my preference. Service was impeccable, timely but not intrusive. Vibrant atmosphere was exciting, and stimulating. Definitely worth a repeat. Reservations almost mandatory to get a table."

  • "Good food, good service, and good craft beers. Also has a wine bar and another beer bar in same complex. Royal Oak is a fun place to go and this place is a nice stop for dinner or some in house brewed craft beers."

  • "We went on a double date for Valentine 'sDay. Service was excellent. We had the calamari as an appetizer (it was good), and a couple of us had the potato leek soup (excellent). My meal was the seafood medley (can't remember the name. I enjoyed it a lot. Myhusband's corned beef sandwich was huge and he really enjoyed it as well. My friend's steak sandwich looks like what I'll try next time... on the potato cake bun- awesome looking."

  • "Was not worth the money. Best part of dinner was the side salads. Ordered fish and chips, macaroni, and beef with waffles. Nothing memorable. Fish was pre- fried and soggy. Fish should not be served in portions as wide as your forearm. It only will get soggy. I felt burned by the $160 we dropped for 4 people, even the next day. The restaurant had a good vibe, just poor follow through on their food. Would of had a better valentines day meal at Coney Island."

  • "The table was ready for us when we walked in which was great! The server was nice but didn't seem to offer any tips for food or drinks though 5/6 people were new to the restaurant. Other than that, it was a great time and the food came quickly and was delicious."

  • "The last time I was here I had mentioned that I was gluten free and the Young man that served us didnt say or do anything. This last time I didn't say anything because I assumed they did not have a GF menu. After I had said in front of our waitress that I could not have the pretzels she automatically asked if I was GF and gave me the appropriate menu. That is what I call an attentive and observant server. This was by far the best service that we has there."

  • "Visited for dinner and we all found comfortable portions and very tasty meals!! Mayo with shallots, I think?! - delicious! The menu is what tempted us to try it - very unique but approachable. Not your average pub and grub which makes it stand out from the rest. But the fries were not like the awesome fries in Belgium :-/ They were over cooked and dry. Witface beer is a unique flavor that I enjoyed. I saw a lot of tables ordering beer sampler trays. The noise was louder than I expected so at times we felt we had to talk loud to be understood. The decor is a bit blah as I expected something with a European flare but it was clean and roomy enough to pass between tables. In the end we'd go again as the location and food are pretty good."

  • "Great meal and good micro beer choices with a splash of wine choices too. The service was VERY good always had a full water glass. Hot soup and Food. Great flavor with soup and main dish dinners. Totally will be back for another date night... Dinner and a Play."

  • "Ate here New Year's Eve while visiting the Detroit area. Place was packed but we found a good reservation time on Open Table that day. Well worth the drive from downtown where we were staying. The restaurant is in a nice area and has a modern, vibrant and energetic atmosphere, very spacious and decorated in keeping with it's 'brewery' name. Service was prompt, helpful. The Belgian menu options were interesting and creative, and tasted great. Had calamari and soft pretzel appetizers; ordered Belgian waffle with beef tenderloin, a seafood dish from New Year's eve menu, and kids ate from children's menu. Enjoyed a 7 glass sampler of their varied beer selections. Highly recommended and would definitely return."

  • "Went here for NYE 2013....made reservations using open table for 6:30, arrived around 6:15 and was promptly seated. Our server came over almost immediately and was very helpful and knowledgable regarding beer selections. For an appetizer, we got the pomme frites with 2 aioli's, which were good, not great. I expected a more crispy fry, these were a bit soggy for my liking. They came out very quickly, almost as if they were already done. Dinner was superb though!! I had the blue cheese mousse stuffed rainbow trout, and my love had the pork belly. Both cooked very well and very delicious! We ordered 2 of the two-bite desserts, which were delicious, but larger than we thought. One dessert would have been plenty! We will be going back for sure!"

  • "We were running a few minutes late but were sat right away. Unfortunately our table was in the direct path of the cold wind blowing from outside. Drinks were great. My friend and I each had the Mac and cheese which came out way too hot to eat and didn't cool down enough for like 10 minutes at least. By the time I got to try it, it was disappointingly bland and had to add a lot of salt and pepper. Our husbands were both happy with their meals, a brewery steak sandwich and a burger with cheddar and bacon. We also got a special appetizer platter they were offering for NYE which was pretty good."

  • "This was a last minute choice that turned out to be a great one! The food was awesome, our server was cool, and the ambiance was just what we wanted. We ate, and then headed downstairs for drinks and dancing. I had an amazing NYE, and would def go here again on a regular day."
