Service was good. We were seated quickly and where we requested. Waiter was attentive and efficient with an appropriate amount of banter. We did not order the prix fixe offering but it looked good at $29. Risotto was great. Hamburger was cooked as requested and presented well. Pomme Frites were average but the ketchup was tasty. Prices were above average. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Bastille had a cozy feel without feeling too crowded. The food was great, with the standouts being the pumpkin soup and fresh burrata cheese for appetizers, pork belly for entree, and tarte au pignon for dessert. Moreso than the food however, was how accommodating their service was towards our child with special needs. Though I wouldn't call Bastille a kid-friendly restaurant, they did go out of their way to make sure that our needs were met, and for that we are very grateful. I would definitely come back to Bastille for their delicious food and fantastic service.

Found a new favorite to add to my top ten restaurant faves! Personable, excellent service, quaint European rustic decor, and unassuming this is a dining treasure that provides a sensibly priced menu of sumptuous savory delights for the palate. Outstanding bar service and selection of spirits. Hope when the restaurant relocates and changes its name in early 2015, the new location continues the same superb casual dining fare and culinary experience.

We have been to Bastille twice in the last two weeks, once for dinner and once for brunch, and we enjoyed both meals. The food was excellent, but both times the service seemed a little slow because the restaurant was very busy. However, this was not a problem for us because we were enjoying ourselves. It's in a very nice neighborhood with easy parking. The shop next to the restaurant is wonderful!

Although I have eaten a million meals at Bastille--cause I do love this place--I had not done the brunch thing. I was so pleased with my food--Caesar salad--yum--and grilled branzino gently laid atop a plethora of veggies (kale, carrots, onions,potatoes)--yum, yum, yum!!! I shall return again and again---and again!! Oh, and thank you, Bastille for the complimentary bubbly for four of us in celebration of E's birthday!! See what I mean???

While it's not a top 30 restaurant in the DC area, it is always good French food. The soup I had, a broccoli veloute, was worthy of a top 10 restaurant. Also, had duck breast, which was very good but not outstanding.

I had a late lunch with friends on Saturday at Bastille. It was a sunny day, so we sat outside to enjoy the nice weather. Our meals and wine were superb! We ordered from the fixed price menu; I had a delicious Caesar Salad, steak with fries, and an awesome dessert of apple cider ice cream with carmel and pecans. In true French style, the staff let us linger for hours, never trying to rush us out (no one was waiting for a table, so we felt alright extending our visit). Totally enjoyable experience!

Our first time at Bastille and we loved it. Very small restaurant with a cozy feel. Staff was friendly and accommodating with a nice relaxed timing to everything. We both had the three course menu. Caesar salads were very fresh and had a nice tang in the dressing. I had the scallops and risotto which were perfect and hubby had the steak dish which was also cooked to perfection. Desserts were very creative. Overall, we really loved the relaxed feel of the evening. Will definitely be returning.

Reserved a table for brunch - got a table by the service entrance of the bar - the bartender was our server. Waitress from another table kept bumping into my wife. Good food not good service for a "French" restaurant. At least educate staff on the correct French pronunciations of the menu items

We had tickets for a show at metrostage which is next door and knew there would be no problem finding a nearby parking spot. While there are several places to dine in Alexandria we didn't want to spend time hunting for a parking place then racing back to metrostage for a preformance. We had a leisurely pre show dinner and got out at the right time to walk into the theatre

I wanted somewhere local and full of ambiance to take family visiting from out of the country. Bastille hit all the right notes. Easy to get to, lovely service and fabulous meal at a very reasonable price. As it was a weeknight, the restaurant was not overly crowded, and our service was prompt and cheerful without being overly friendly. The seafood was fabulous, as were the desserts. The service here is impeccable, the food is fantastic (especially for someone who wants 'interesting' and 'omg' to describe the meal they just had). One thing though, when going for the course menu be prepared to really pack it away! No one could ever say you didn't get your money's worth. We would have been just as happy (our tummies maybe happier) if each course had half as much food one the plate. Our server pointed out to us that it wasn't a 'tasting' menu, but a 'gourmand' menu meant to stuff you to the gills. Well, that was maybe our fault. Eyes bigger than our stomach and all. But, we were really happy that we had a decent walk back to our hotel to help settle the meal before bed!

Saturday lunch. My wife and I had a B team server who seemed to be doubling as a bartender part of the time and generally not paying much attention. After a very long wait we concluded that he hadn't put in our food order. After we inquired, the food showed up a short time later. The restaurant was not that busy. We've been to Bastille many times and overall this was an aberration -- and so especially disappointing.

The ambiance is warm and friendly, and the service is excellent. The menu is diverse, with something for every taste, as is the wine list, the charcuterie and cheese offerings.
