We loved Bastille! We went there for our first wedding anniversary and back again for our second! We love that they gave us complimentary champagne upon arrival to celebrate. It's the little things like that that make this place really special.

We have been to Bastille several times. It is always very good and sometimes outstanding. It was outstanding on our most recent visit in mid-November. The food was excellent, as was the service. We groaned when we first walked in because the place was packed, but our server and the kitchen didn't miss a beat. The wine selection remains great, as well. Reasonably priced French, and other, selections. They are adding a new location in a couple of months, so we'll have to see how that goes, but Bastille is a great "date night" option.

We love this restaurant, so reminiscent of a cozy Paris Bistro, complete with fresh seasonal foods lovingly prepared, plus a great wine list and the desserts are divine! The starter -- sweet potato soup-- had multiple levels of flavor and was amazing. We had the rockfish special and hangar steak; both done to perfection. One person in our party thought the rockfish had an overly "fishy" taste but she was in the minority. The Chai panicotta dessert was not up to par with the rest of the innovative and delicious desserts served. The servers were attentive without being annoying. In all a great place for a predictably delicious meal.

We always have a wonderful dining experience at the Bastille, whether it is a birthday celebration, romantic dinner or lunch with office colleagues. The food is always perfect, specials included. This time it was seared scallops on apple-risotto that caught my eye. But ALWAYS, the shrimp beignets to start the meal. Their prix fixe at dinner is affordable and filling. We were told that this gem is being converted into a bistro and the full restaurant is moving in January to a more central Alexandria location. We wish them well (and we were told there will be free parking in the new location).

We decided to give Bastille a chance since we wanted to try something new. We decided to go with the Gourmand Menu. The plates are quite plentiful. I almost couldn't finish my first course of Foie Gras Terrine, which you must try. The second course was a Beet salad which was a soft touch to the filling meal taking place. The Cassoulet brought me back to cold days in France, such a great dish. The dessert was a version of pecan pie, which I love to eat around this time of year. Theirs didn't disappoint, but not the best I've had in the area. This restaurant doesn't get 5 stars because of the little issue we had at the table and management's inability to come over and show a genuine concern. My girlfriend ordered a drink and the glass was cracked. I wish the bartender had noticed while making the drink but luckily my girlfriend wasn't harmfully affected. The server delivered the drink and when I noticed I gave it to a lady who ended up being the manager. She said sorry but would bring another drink if we wanted. She then scolded the server near our table, I didn't see but my girlfriend overheard their conversation. We didn't think that was appropriate. We never saw the manager again, waiting to hear an apology from management. I expect this, because I'm a manager of a restaurant and would never distance myself from a table because of an issue. The server was great and very apologetic. Her inabilities let him shine and really create a great experience over one that almost was a disaster.

Bastille is one of the few places we can walk to, so it is our "go to" place for dinner mid-week. The $39 three course prix pixe is a real bargain and the food is delicious. The wine list has been well selected and has some great bottles in the 30-35 dollar range, which provides a good opportunity to try some 'new' wines without risking too much.

We were visiting from out of town. Looked for something a little out of the ordinary for dinner and decided to try here. The food was amazing and reasonably priced for what we got. The only minor hiccup was being seated right in the doorway at first but when we asked to be moved they accommodated us easily. They were going to move us a third time but we figured it out and the staff have us a free drink for our trouble. Otherwise the experience was amazing. Order the beignets! They were so good! Wonderful outdoor dining -- perhaps the best in Old Town. Indoor is very pleasant with exceptional service, especially from the sweet young Moroccan chick, who was very knowledgeable about the food and how it was prepared and had a delightful sense of humor. The mushroom soup was excellent and the fries are some of the best in town. Such an enjoyable experience, we shall return frequently.

Service was good. We were seated quickly and where we requested. Waiter was attentive and efficient with an appropriate amount of banter. We did not order the prix fixe offering but it looked good at $29. Risotto was great. Hamburger was cooked as requested and presented well. Pomme Frites were average but the ketchup was tasty. Bastille had a cozy feel without feeling too crowded. The food was great, with the standouts being the pumpkin soup and fresh burrata cheese for appetizers, pork belly for entree, and tarte au pignon for dessert. Moreso than the food however, was how accommodating their service was towards our child with special needs. Though I wouldn't call Bastille a kid-friendly restaurant, they did go out of their way to make sure that our needs were met, and for that we are very grateful. I would definitely come back to Bastille for their delicious food and fantastic service.

Personable, excellent service, quaint European rustic decor, and unassuming this is a dining treasure that provides a sensibly priced menu of sumptuous savory delights for the palate. We have been to Bastille twice in the last two weeks, once for dinner and once for brunch, and we enjoyed both meals. We ordered from the fixed price menu; I had a delicious Caesar Salad, steak with fries, and an awesome dessert of apple cider ice cream with carmel and pecans. In true French style, the staff let us linger for hours, never trying to rush us out (no one was waiting for a table, so we felt alright extending our visit). Totally enjoyable experience!

We both had the three course menu. Caesar salads were very fresh and had a nice tang in the dressing. I had the scallops and risotto which were perfect and hubby had the steak dish which was also cooked to perfection. Desserts were very creative. Overall, we really loved the relaxed feel of the evening. Will definitely be returning.
