BastaOut of the way, but worth the visitA little noisy, but pleasant nonetheless. There is a varied pizza menu including several gluten-free offers which were delicious. We ordered so everything would be presented family-style. There was plenty to eat and all of it was delicious. The service was attentive and the wine pairings were on target. Even though the location is a little odd (in the middle of apartment complex), it's worth seeking Basta out, especially as a location to have dinner with friends.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden GemThis place is hard to find (located in the middle of a condo complex off Arapahoe &38th) but well worth it. The food and drinks are great and the service is excellent. The menu reads like foodie-only fare, with interesting ingredients and unique combinations, but the flavors were good in a traditional sense. Don't be afraid to try something that sounds strange! There are better pizzas in the Denver/boulder area, but this place is the total package. Great for a date or group night out.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPizza's there are really good.Pizza's there are really good. Lasagna was very nice. I recommend the roasted vegetables salad.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome, as usualThe food here keeps on progressing to the next level. Kelly and the culinary team are constantly trying new ideas while maintaining all the favorites. There is no better pizza in Boulder or Denver.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spotInteresting menu with both regular and seasonal choices. Food was tasty, especially the pizza, and the service was friendly and well informed.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDifferent pizzasBasta is really hidden away in an apartment complex, so the GPS was confused about how to find it. There is a wide selection of very different pizzas. I thought there was a wider variety of other non-pizza selections, based on the website, but everyone found something they enjoyed. I had the lasagna which was very light and flavorful.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AM1. Kind of hard to find, but1. Kind of hard to find, but a very nice location.
2. Excellent waiter
3. Absolutely a great place for friends to come and eat and talk. Not a place for an elegant or cozy dinner.
4. Very good pizza and homemade pasta. Duck rilletye was fantastic.
5. Excellent wine list with good selection of Italian and American wines from wineries I do not normally see and at a moderate price.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food awaitsIf you're lucky enough to snag a table at Basta on a night when the bad weather isn't keeping people away, start your evening off with oysters -- baked or raw -- and you'll wonder why you never ordered them before. Then follow up with the pork belly on a bed of polenta along with the duck rillettes. If you're still hungry for dinner, try the short ribs or the house-specialty wood oven chicken. Of course as your wait person for a fabulous wine -- any from their list will delight. Bon appetit!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBest pizza crust in COBasta has some of the best pizza in Colorado and possibly the world. What allows this is the quality of the crust which happens to be some of the best anywhere. All the ingredients and processes here are top notch. Try the pork belly and leek burrata. The service here is also consistently quality. Oh, and if that's not enough, they have great drinks.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AModd location, but the foododd location, but the food is off the scale good; consistently.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy first time here celebratingMy first time here celebrating with a friend for his birthday, and we absolutely loved it! The wine was delicious, the beer was great, and the pizza we ate was phenomenal. Can't wait to go back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent and interestingExcellent and interesting food, and a lot of fun. It's really expanded the repertoire since it opened as a (really good) pizza restaurant.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenal food, fantasticallyPhenomenal food, fantastically creative libations. Must try chicken liver mousse and the short ribs! The service was great.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMReally delicious! The food was great! But very loud..like most restaurants these day, the noise just bounces off the concrete!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in Boulder!Basta is a must every time we go to Boulder. The service is fantastic and the food's amazing, their wood-fired pizzas have the best crust ever...it's like a thick crepe! For starters, you have to try the Burrata, it's a very fresh italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream, the outer shell is solid mozzarella and the inside is a creamy luscious blend of the two that just seeps out when you cut it. Served on top of braised leaks and house made pancetta with a side of crostini...delicious! And to top our evening off perfectly we had the campfire vanilla ice-cream (which is not to be missed!) and if you're really lucky, they'll have the fresh mint ice-cream...I almost fell out of my chair! We love you, Basta...keep it up!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy entree - gnocchi, was veryMy entree - gnocchi, was very creatively prepared, and presented, and the flavors were great. My wife had Lasagna - also very good.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome would recommend theAwesome would recommend the fire smoked vanilla ice cream and arugula pizza!!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMTook us a while to discoverTook us a while to discover this place but what a find! Dishes for Easter brunch were so unique, perfectly conceived and prepared, appropriately portioned and delish! Kinda Euro, kinda local. We'll be back!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Service AND FoodBest service ever. What a knowledgeable waitress we had! The food--both of the daily specials when we were there--was exceptionally good, and the Ultimate Whiskey Daisy was one of the best cocktail creations I've ever had. One of Boulder's best restaurants: artisan food and drink in a comfortable casual setting, a little off the beaten path.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA concrete floor and ceilingA concrete floor and ceiling make for a rather loud, resonant space. The food and the service is always breathtakingly amazing. There may be some trendy and new woodfired placed on Pearl or closer to town, but THIS is the best. Really.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, another fantasticAs usual, another fantastic meal. Took several out-of-towners there who consider themselves quite the gourmets. All loved it. From the warm olives and pickles, to the duck and oyster appetizers, to the fish, lasagna, chicken and short ribs, all delicious. And don't forget about the homemade ice cream and donuts. This is a place for the serious diner who doesn't need to spend a fortune to have a great meal. Substitutions are graciously made--if you don't like cauliflower or faro, no problem. There is always something they will recommend in substitution. Al and Kelly appreciate your business and will do all they can to make the dining experience exceptional. Try it-you won't be disappointed.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNot just pizza...Basta has it all!It is hard to put into words how much we love Pizzeria Basta! The food is spectacularly prepared, the dining room warm and cozy, the staff incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and the value one of the best in town. This is something really special!
My husband and I have been going to Basta pretty regularly over the last 6 months, so we have had a good chance to explore the menu. And for me a favorable review always comes down to the food. If a restaurant can't knock my socks off...no five stars for it! Basta never fails to knock 'em off!
So, enjoy the pizza, but don't miss out on some of their other gems: lasagna, beef short ribs (OMG!), burrata, roasted veggie salad, and of course the famous sous vide pork sandwich. Enjoy!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe market cocktail programThe market cocktail program is particularly outstanding.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSatisfied customerGood, little neighborhood restaurant. Food is consistently good, esp. the pizza. Wine list is well priced with variety. Never disappointed.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWay Beyond PizzaBasta has the best pizza in town, but is so much more than a pizzeria. Order the wood-fired chicken or fish and one of the truly masterful salads anytime, but don't overlook the "market" specials. The drinks are great across the board, especially the continually interesting cocktail program. And where else in town can you get LAMILL Coffee?3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently amazesI happened to be able to go for both lunch and dinner. This is truly one of the best restaurants in Boulder.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in townThis is perhaps the best restaurant in Boulder. Not the fanciest for sure nor the most expensive by any means. But if you like creatively prepared food at its freshest, then this is the place for you. From the oysters to the barrata, chicken liver mousse or cannel ini beans with squid and octopus, and from the house-made lasagna to the fish or chicken, everything is first-rate. The wine and spirits list is small but well chosen and interesting, selected to complement the food. And the staff and chef sincerely appreciate the business without the hugging and kissing that one can experience elsewhere in this town. Basta is so much more than a pizzeria. Hard to find but well worth it. And reservations are not impossible to come by. Go.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful time at Basta thisWonderful time at Basta this past week! Small place with an intimate vibe. Bar looked like a place I could come alone to eat good food and people watch. Took advantage of the 5280 deal and enjoyed the mussels, beef short rib, and the dessert. Indeed, my favorite part of the meal was dessert and I'm usually not one to partake. Try the scopes -- my favorite was the salted caramel. But the donuts with fresh whipped cream was delightful! Service was excellent as everyone was very attentive. The only complaint is that I ordered the short rib and my companions ordered the pizza which took longer to make. My meal came out about 5-10 minutes before the rest and I had to wait until the rest of the meal but the short rib was still delicious!2/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
