  • Catering: Basta uses a mobile wood fire oven to cater off site and bring the wood fire restaurant experience to you. The focus is on multi course family style menus at a location of your choosing. Rentals, staffing and event planning are also available.
  • Private Party Facilities: Our dining room is the perfect size for a private party of up to 65 guests. It is available for private parties for dinner seven nights per week. We also offer private lunch and happy hour events. Sample menus available upon request.

A word from Basta
Basta is a wood fire eatery committed to providing house made specialties like roasted half chicken and whole striped bass as well as classic gourmet pizzas. Hand made pastas and oysters also make regular appearances on the menu. The wine and beer list is centered around small artisan producers, with a rotating craft beer selection on draft. Chef Kelly Whitaker concentrates on locally grown produce, meats and domestic charcuterie to create the foundation for his unique wood fire menu.

  • "I took my CU Boulder son and two of his fraternity brothers to dinner there and we had a wonderful dining experience. In addition to everyone ordering their own pizza, we all shared the smoked vegetable salad and then I ordered every dessert on the menu. It was fun sampling and commenting on all the delicious food we enjoyed. The guys are still talking about it!"

  • "Finally a place in Boulder with great food you can actually hear a conversation at your table without shouting. The salads, apps, and pizza were great. The only limiting factor was the wine list per glass was a little shallow, but what they did offer was acceptable. And taking reservations was a plus for a restaurant that was moderately priced. We will return. Our server Stephen was helpful and attentive."

  • "We eat at Basta every couple of weeks, so we have tried almost everything on the menu. Their pizzas are fantastic, but in this review I want to focus on the baked chicken. It's prepared like "brick chicken" where a half chicken is flattened and pressed so that everything bakes evenly. The skin is crispy and wonderful -- and the chicken is moist and juicy. If you order a couple of appetizers and this one entree between two of you, you'll be full. And don't miss the campfire smoked vanilla ice cream -- you won't believe your tastebuds!"

  • "There is a reason Westword voted Basta the best neopolitan-style pizza in Metro Denver. I think they are among the best I have ever had, and that includes several in New York and my favorite in Toronto. My son thinks it's better than Pizza Calore (but only slightly). We tried the Daisy, White and Cart-Driver pies and each was perfectly prepared and cooked. As you can tell, I have found my new, favorite pizza place. Great, friendly and fast service. Too bad they are only open for lunch on Fridays. If I have one complaint, they are a bit hard to find. They are located on The Peloton on Arapahoe and 33rd, but it's only accessible from the interior courtyard. Molto Buona!"

  • "First course was an arctic char pate served with fish chicharona - an amazing whole air-dried fish skin (about a foot long!) that had been seared in the pizza oven - tasted like a cracker and was perfect for the pate. The next was a chicken liver mousse in wine gelee with citrus focaccia - perfectly warm rectangular cube of thin-sliced focaccia topped with a glazed lemon slice. awesome! And on and on. We'll be back!!"

  • "You've got killer crust, like Pizzeria Dalupo, with the best sauce and cheese, like Pizzeria Locale. Put them together and you get the best pizza in town. Seriously. Its tucked away and hard to find but those who do find it won't be disappointed. Great charcuterie and the chicken is pretty darn good too."

  • "Wow. We stumbled on this place online and chose it as we had a craving for pizza. We found a lot more than we anticipated. There was a 3 course prix fixe menu as they were participating in First BIte Boulder (it ends on the 23rd so hurry in). We both had a lovely glass of tempranillo that went great with the lamb tartare and raclette, which were both a fun start. Rich, but not too heavy. The pizza with pork belly and arugula was good, but to be frank, the kitchen outdid themselves with the chitarra pasta with uni and fermented black garlic. Unreal. The desserts were a nice way to finish. Our waiter (also terrific) recommended a great glass of amaro. All said, the talent in the kitchen is obvious. We'll be back to see more!"

  • "This is hard to write because I love the food at Basta. I've had two of the ten best meals I've ever had in Boulder at Basta, but this time the experience didn't measure up. My wife and I ordered short ribs, which are without a doubt the best in the Boulder. The problem was with the wait time. We arrived early and there were few diners. We know this meal takes 30 minutes to prepare and confirmed this with the waiter. After 40 minutes we inquired about our order. At 50 minutes it was served and, while it was delicious, the long wait took the enjoyment out of it. We were offered very little explanation - or apology. I'll probably return to Basta, but management and the waitstaff need to learn how to communicate better with their customers."

  • "We invited some friends to Basta and had a horrible experience. Even though we were on time they gave away our reservation to a party they "thought" was us. We stood for 30 minutes while they waited for a table to become available. I spent 20 minutes away from our party just trying to get drinks for everyone. To make matters worse there was no place to stand so we were always in the way of wait staff and other patrons trying to get by us."

  • "I loved their food. Food was fantastic and amazing!! but it was extremely noisy. At one point, they turned up the music. It became insane! I had to shout to communicate with my friends. The service was moderate. I saw that each time when guests were leaving the restaurant, the host or servers open the door for them. but when we, colored people, did not get opened the door when we left. They surely noticed when we left.... felt a bit discriminated."

  • "The wood veg salad was delicious. The cart-driver and Peppers pizzas were also very tasty and somewhat different than the usual pizza. The waiter was friendly and available. Nonetheless, for 2 people to split a big appetizer salad, each have a pizza (brought a little home), have one drink each and split a single scoop of ice cream, $70 just seemed like a lot of money. The service was good so I did give our waiter around a 17% tip so ended up at $84- yikes. I said yes about recommending to a friend but I would certainly warn them about the prices."

  • "Friday lunch at Basta is always worth the drive from Castle Pines. The friendly service the outstanding food and delicious wines keep us coming back.....We especially love the burratta cheese with carmelized leeks and crispy pork belly, the roasted vegetable salad which changes all the time. And then the pork sandwich or piadini which is to die for and only available on Friday at lunch Top it off with the peppers pizza and add mushrooms and prociutto and it is heaven! you must have some amazing wine or craft beer and save room for the best coffee in Colorado I highly recommend a double cappuccino"
