  • "What a fabulous experience we had at Basil's! The presentation of the courses was exquisite.....From the Amour bouche to the creamy soup to the tender filet....All was a welcome surprise. Our server, Taylor, was gracious and efficient, meeting our every request...We will definitely return and are encouraging our friends to visit Basil's."

  • "Basils is a great dining spot. The food was delicious. We sent our compliments to the chef and he came out and introduced himself. That was very nice. Great ambiance. Our server Arianna was very accommodating and had a great smile."

  • "Perfectly prepared high quality food artfully presented -- Attentive, helpful, friendly and personality-filled service -- Beautiful setting overlooking the Crystal Court -- Time and time again, I wouldn't change a thing -- Obviously I'll be returning (yet another time!)"

  • "We had tickets for the momentous Minnesota Orchestra concert, with Osmo Vanska conducting, that evening, and we felt a lovely dinner would set the evening up nicely. We were not disappointed. The food, the presentation, and the service--from everyone on staff--were all marvelous. The filet mignon was one of the most tender steaks I've ever had. Every aspect of our meal was terrific. This was the first time in years we'd been to Basil's, but we will try to have less of a gap in time occur before our next visit."

  • "As always the food was excellent but even more so was the great service we got from our waitperson-Taylor. She was exceptional in her timing between courses and her charming interaction. Basil's should be proud to have such an outstanding employee."

  • "Upon arrival to Basil's, no one was at the front desk. It took for someone to walk out the kitchen to notice us. we were seated on the overlook, it was quite a nice scene but there were guys using a cherrypicker to clean windows. That wa s kind of distracting and loud. The the salad and wine were wonderful. Our main courses were good but very small proportions. That was a major disappointment. Overall very nice ambiance, probably better during the day. I would suggest using a groupon or any other deal."

  • "I took my wife to Basil's on her birthday for a late breakfast before we went to the Macy's flower show. I had noted that it was her birthday on the reservation and asked for a table overlooking the Crystal Court. We were seated at the Mary Tyler Moore table. The breakfast was wonderful, and the chef made her a special dessert with a candle in it for her birthday. Our servers were great - they took pictures of us with my wife's camera, and wished her a happy birthday. Overall it was just a wonderful birthday breakfast. Basil's really did everyhing right."

  • "I've seen Basil's for years and never really understood the appeal outside of the terrace dining for hotel lodgers and people wo work downtown. I've been missing out. Quiet and comfortable atmosphere paired with excellent cuisine; this is an excellent place for a romantic dinner for two. Make a night of it and go downtown. Be prepared to spend some $$$ but you'll be happy with the results."

  • "A person can taste every last drop of wine with an excellent meal, that brings the taste buds out. However, it's a very expensive place that doesn't fill a person up."

  • "Food was vastly over spiced. The pork chop meal was the worst I have ever had that I only ate a little of it. My wife took one spoonful of her soup and left it."

  • "We thought the food was spectacular! We had two servers, one was new, but they left us alone far to long and often. We would have ordered more drinks and waited to long for courses. The food was great though, the Filet was one of the best we have ever had."

  • "Loved this restaurant! Food was great, service was great, drinks were great and there were very few people there so it was quiet and we could sit and chat with out bothering others or be bothered. Not sure why this place isn't full every night? Was a wonderful evening."

  • "Went here for Restaurant Week Feb 28 2014 and found the food to be good but nothing super inspiring. Definitely sitting on their balcony inside the IDS Center is what made it nice while dining out in the polar vortex. It was like we were eating outside with the ceiling waterfall of the IDS Center trickling down and some warm heat blasting out from the balcony vents. Good for a quick bite but nothing super special for an occasion."

  • "There were 4 of us in our group, 2 of my adult children and my husband. We chose this spot because we had a groupon for breakfast. It was fairly easy to locate but when we arrived we could not find a sole. After walking through the entire restaurant twice, the only 2 people I saw were to random ladies enjoy their morning coffee and the newspaper. I did not want to interrupt them to ask if they had actually been seated or if they seated themself so we just went back and waited at the host/hostess desk. After another 5 minutes or so my husband walked back and found someone, luckily we were in no hurry so no big deal but it was kind of confusing. Once we were seated the view was beautiful, the food was great and our waiter was fabulous."

  • "I went to Basil's for dinner with my parents as part of the Restaurant Week. While the food was pretty good, the portions at first seemed very small. However, by the end of our entree, we realized that it actually was just about the right amount and very well prepared."

  • "Our luncheon group of 4 scored on reservations to Basil's during Restaurant Week, and their lunch service did not disappoint! The lamb burger was phenomenal, the truffle mac n' cheese was divine, and the dessert did not disappoint either! The view is quite lovely of the atrium of the downtown hotel as well. All of the staff were attentive and very interested in making our dining service the best possible experience - again, we were not disappointed."

  • "We went here for restaurant week. Because of this our food options were minimal but the choices we made (steak au poivre and salmon) were executed perfectly. Ambience was quite but we were seated on the "balcony" area where you could look out over the indoor courtyard. The desert, chocolate souffle with ice cream was excellent. Best dessert I've had in a long time."

  • "the food was very good, I had the steak and knife sandwich and a friend of mine had the lamb burger and both were out standing. The service was good not great. I just felt like it could have been better. My waitress insisted on bringing me out ice cream with my dessert when I specifically told her to hold it as I cannot eat the ice cream because of the lactose. I just feel like its wasted food. The other thing that was kind of annoying was they server you bread while you wait for you food, but we didn't get our basket until a couple of minutes before our meal came out, so not sure what the point is. Also it took the wait staff a while to bring me our check, as when your are on a business lunch you need to be contentious of the time."

  • "We did the Valentine's Day menu at Basils and it was amazing. A great spot on the balcony overlooking the crystal court. The Basil's salad is amazing and the presentation was great. The service was prompt and courterous. The manager cam and chatted with us as well! Our entrees, a special tenderloin and a stuffed chicken breast with brussels sprouts were really good, as was our desert, which was a chocolate souffle. I highly reccomend Basils for dinner, not just lunch!"

  • "My wife and I don't dine at expensive places very often, but since we were celebrating a special day, we splurged. We were presented with a four course meal that left us both completely satisfied and very pleased."

  • "My boyfriend and I have been here twice. The peppercorn steak is amazing and the tiramisu is to die for. Coffee is also very strong here, which I love. Overall, the restaurant has been very quiet and pretty empty each time we've been here, but the food makes up for it. I would recommed it for people who are very comfortable with one another, maybe not great for a first date due to the surrounding silence."

  • "Food was good, portions tiny, tiny. wine was tiny amount also. server got my food wrong, said it would be 15 minutes to make right so I ate it as I didn't want to wait 15 minutes while my husband ate. I would go again at the price we paid through groupon , but never at full price"

  • "Very fine experience. In our fast paced world, the service seemed slow, perhaps that is 'normal' here. Food was presented well and enjoyed."
