A word from Basilico
Basilico Restaurant, located in Millburn, New Jersey was established by co-owners Mario DeMarco and Angelo Delbecchi, formerly of Sergio's, also in Millburn. Both are graduates of the Hotel Management School in Alassio, Italy. Both from Italy, they have brought their original and authentic Italian cuisine to Millburn.

Basilico has a definite New York look and feel, which reflects in our food items. We use the best of ingredients. "Casual and chic" is how we have been described by reviewers. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable and energetic. Our goal is to maintain the highest level of hospitality, remembering that you are the guest, and it is our ultimate goal for you to leave thoroughly satisfied. Special requests can be accommodated.

The food is fresh and delicious, the wait-staff is friendly and courteous, and the place has great ambience. Finally, the icing on the cake is the mouth-watering desserts that are freshly prepared. The whole purpose of stepping out to eat is to enjoy the food and you won't enjoy it here (we had a seafood special and also an Italian entree - neither was good, and would actually describe them as horrible). We will never be returning and can not recommend to anyone - I'm sorry."

The service was wonderful,someone was always there to attend to your needs. And after speaking with Mario, who is one of the owners, I can see why this restaurant is so nice. It reflects the personality of the gentleman I spoke with. We will definitely come back to Basilico, because that's what a restaurant should be. Bravo!"

  • "We've come here a few times and always have been pleased. This time we came with our 6 yr. old daughter. We weren't sure how this would go over, but everything turned out well. Surprisingly, they had a kids menu, but of course we knew that she would be able to order meatballs and spaghetti; one of her favorites. I usually get the Osso Bucco, which is always great, but I was in a fish mood, so I ordered the grilled whole fish. Nicely done, although I would have wanted it to be a bit more flavorful. Ah, I guess you can't hit a home run all the time, but we can't wait to go back. Next time I hope to sit in the back patio."

  • "Someone had a piece of plastic in her salad from the goat cheese- they gave her a brand new one. My salad was supposed to have colossal crab meat- and that didn't happen. I ordered the scallops and shrimp dinner- don't order that! Learn how to prepare & cook scallops properly! Someone else in our party ordered the halibut special which came with potatoes- she said they tasted old! lol! Now the best part of the whole meal was the dessert- please if you order anything from this place make it the dessert. They have a special pastry chef and they should also look into getting a special regular chef. The dessert was amazing- they were actually out of their dessert of the day, so they gave us an extra complimentray one. Get the banana crostate! "

  • "I can't believe how good the food & the service was at this restaurant. We don't drink, so we can't say how the wine is, but the food was amazing. I wanted to go back immediately & so did my friends. They had vegetarian meals (he had gazpacho & a beet salad, she had pear & goat cheese ravioli) & I had seafood (frutte di mare pasta). We exchanged bites & oohhs & ahhs the whole time. I thought these delicious curls in my dinner were pasta, they were so tender, but they were actually my calamari. This restaurant is a GOLDEN FIND. GO THERE NOW! :-D"

  • "Service was outstanding,extremely on point.brought a bottle of champagne and 2 bottles of wine.champagne and white were taken to be chilled immediately while glassware was placed on our table.The champagne was poured while the 4 of us enjoyed their bread assortment with butter,tomato spread,white bean spread.The server was very knowledgeable of the menu and specials. We shared the mushroom soup(one of the best I've had),eggplant/mozz/red pepper app. Then on to our white wine,served just in time for our 2nd course,carpaccio, steamed mussell and clams, crab cocktail. Red wine with our entrées, Osso buccos and skirt steaks.We shared a brûlée and sorbet trio with espressos.Great experience! Will reccomend and be back ASAP! DELICIOUS!"

  • "My husband and I went here for lunch before a matinee at PaperMill Playhouse. We were the first ones there at 11:45am and had a nice seat in the front window. We were the only ones there for a half hour and the staff was extremely attentive. The "little plates" were great appetizers and it was the best bruschetta we ever had (and we eat a lot of Italian food.) The music playing was typical Italian restaurant music (ie. Belle Notte, Boccelli, etc) which was a nice touch. It was a BYOB and the staff made sure our glasses were never empty. It was disappointing that by the time we left there were only 2 other couples in the restaurant as this was such a nice Italian restaurant in the heart of Millburn. We definitely will be back. "
