Diner Reviews
  • "Like the modifications so far although it lost some of its genuine touch with no salad and apps station. It was packed and the noise level is very high. Despite all that food is amazing, and so is service."

  • "Our food and service was good. Great place for Sunday with a group for lunch as a lot of places in area are not open for lunch. NOTE: they are doing renovations which should be done in August my only complaint is room was warm. (Not enjoyable top eat food in hot environment unless you are outside at the beach.) Will definitely go back but only after renovations are completed."

  • "Basil T's changed its floor layout to a more open format making the restaurant VERY loud, almost unbearable. The intimacy is gone. In addition, the food was ok but the bill was very high ($102 for 2 adults and 2 kids under 8 no dessert) and not worth it. Service was slow and they were not that busy. Use to love coming here. Very Disappointed."

  • "Small portions. Small menu, yet there seemed to be other options that were not listed on the menu. Only Italian wines are served, yet not Italian Bread -although there was a jug of olive oil. Guess it was to be used with the rolls/biscuits? We had to ask for bread, and we received rolls/biscuits Our appetizer was served along with our entrees so we sent them back. Dessert was good, we had the Cannoli's and Cappuccino."

  • "It's worth the drive! The staff is always warm , friendly and accommodating. Love the food and the uniqueness of the wine list"

  • "Basil T's really offers all you need for an evening out friends or family. The food and service are spot on and reliable, they offer a wide selection of wines and drinks, and the ever changing desserts are not to be missed. Their recent renovations have really improved the flow and acoustics. It may not be fancy or gourmet, if that's what you're looking for, but it's always offers a great meal at a reasonable price. Tip - If you can make it there on a Sunday, try their Sunday sauce. Excellent!"

  • "Reservations taken right away. Was able to relax for a drink at bar first without being rushed to sit at table. All at host station were friendly and attentive. Bartenders were very pleasant. Had a wonderful table in corner server was fantastic and knew the menu. Offering half price bottles of wine which was a nice treat to indulge. Food was remarkable especially the appy special corn on con with pesto rolled in parm! Meatballs, raviolis and eggplant parm delish and the cappuccino was perfect."

  • "I have been a mug club member at Basil's for many years and rarely am I disappointed. I am a hop head and although Rosie's Pale Ale isn't an IPA, it is a fine brew and goes well with the food. I believe that the pizza is among the best in the area, they really do the crust well and don't overload it with too much sauce. They are redecorating now and there are many TV's for sports viewing and they manage to keep the sports crowd contained enough so that it doesn't impact the dining crowd (not an easy thing to do). The live music is what you would hope for in a bar/restaurant: pleasant and not overwhelming or annoying. It is not in the downtown area; you can't really park and walk around town, which is the only negative I can think of."

  • "It is amazing how 2 half portions of pasta (blah bolognese & pesto), a panini burger with cheese, a chicken dish plus 3 desert dishes; nothing to write home about plus 2 coffees, 2 sodas and melon app can cost over $130. When we got the bill, we were astounded maybe because the food wasn't great and a bit disappointing to say the least. We will not be going back. We have gone to other establishments in the area and people need to start holding these restaurants accountable for overcharging for mediocre food. We will stick with the Salt Creek from now on or until another restaurant can serve good food, for the family (kids menu too), at prices that are okay. Heck, if one could serve good casual food cheaper, that would be a homerun."

  • "The staff was very good, our waiter was excellent. The menu is good, the specials were a nice surprise. Its not a quiet place, so if that's what your looking for, this isn't the restaurant. Not the most romantic either, tables are kinds close and the waiters were banging into my chair everytime they went by, to another table. That was annoying..... Otherwise, I like this place..."

  • "The food at Basil T's is wonderful. We enjoy going there on a regular basis. The wine list is great as is the wine club. But our only complaint is that it is too noisy to have a nice dinner sometimes. We try and go very early before there are too many people. I wish they would do something about the noise level - perhaps something on the ceilings to dull the noise?"

  • "Noisy, food just about average, service good, excellent for microbeer, slightly overpriced."
    Dined on 6/8/2014
  • "Although wasn't able to sample the home brew (micro brewery on site) - will be back to try when not the designated driver! Food was decent, atmosphere warm & friendly, fine for a local eatery that's a cut above your average NJ pasta joint. Pleasantly surprised. "

  • "It is loud, so don't come if you want to have a quiet evening, but if you want energetic and good food.....come on down"
    Dined on 5/30/2014
  • "Not on the menu, but found out word of mouth that Basil's has a Monday night special - $15 for soup or salad (a huge ceasar), a great burger & fries and a glass of wine or one of their beers. This is a delicious, well priced deal but you have to ask for it since it's not on the menu anywhere."

  • "We have been to Basil T's at least a dozen times whether after a football game or for new years eve and we have been thrilled with the menu, staff and ambiance every time! "

  • "This was my third time at Basil T's. Every time I've ordered something different, and the food is wonderful. I wish the orders included a small side salad. It would really enhance the experience. At the same time, I don't think I'll be coming back on a holiday, the noise level was unbearable."

  • "My reservations were made online via Open Table. That worked out fine. We arrived 10 minutes early, to be told we would be seated in a few minutes. That came and went. After waiting about 20 minutes, I purchased a drink at the bar. After one sip, my table was ready. Coincidence? "

  • "Basil T's graciously accommodated our group of 10 at a high-top table. It was very full on a Friday night (and noisy!), so food service was a little slow. Attentive and responsive server. Food was quite good, tho the mushroom pizza could cut down a bit on the salt. I enjoyed my rigatoni with eggplant and zucchini and cheese. Good microbrew list, but they also have a full liquor license. Recommended for that kind of experience!"

  • "Basil T's is a fun, loud, upscale restaurant where you can always count on hearty, good food. The service is always friendly and helpful and the bar is always hopping."

  • "Excellent pasta selections and extensive Italian wine selections. My wife had the bolognese while I had the orecchiete with sausage and broccoli raab. Delicious! Pasta cooked perfectly. Had an absolutely delicious Barolo which was reccomended to us."

  • "Food, service, and drink were all good. Prices are a little high for portion size. "

  • "We ate at Basil T's at Sunday lunchtime. It was very busy, with a couple of large groups. That made the noise level extremely high, to the point where it was hard to have a conversation without shouting. Also, our server seemed overwhelmed and took a long time to take our order -- and then brought our main courses out before we had finished our appetizers. That aside, the food was very good. Prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and portion sizes. We'll give Basil T's another try -- when it's not quite so busy."

  • "it seems like every time ive eaten out recently, i come home dissatisfied about something. Not so here. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, pleasant and relaxed. I will definitely return."

  • "My wife and I ordered the Chicken Francaise over spinach risoto and I will tell you that it was one of the best entrees we ever had. It was so good that we debated ordering another for dessert (we didn't). We had the cappuccino pie for dessert (it was fantastic). We had the red ale (also fantastic). We had a wonderful meal! "

  • "I surprised my husband with a a dinner date out. We had never been to Basil T's before and we were not disappointed. We were seated right away, our server was very attentive and food was delicious. Great first time experience for both of us."

  • "Basil T's is always consistent with very good food. We especially love to begin with the Caesar Salad and have some type of home-made pasta with our entree. Service is wonderful in the dining area as well as the bar. This is a a great place to dine in Red Bank if you love Italian food."
    Dined on 4/8/2014
  • "Enjoyed a dinner at Basil Ts. The food here is always superb. I think we ate every morsel on the plates of our salad and entrees. The drinks were very good. Our server forgot our drinks but returned with them quickly. Otherwise service was fine. Although the food runners seemed in a hurry to drop their deliveries and run off quickly. We took dessert home. The cannolis are excellent."

  • "We made a reservation arrived 10 minutes prior to our time and still had to wait a half hour to be seated. But as larger parties came in they would be seated prior to us. Not happy with that. Food. Is pricey for what you get, 26.00 for chicken parm and pasta dish. Would not go back ever."

  • "Our waitress was dismissive, rude and actually rolled her eyes when I ordered a fruit juice. Literally the only time she smiled or made eye contact was when she slapped (aka, SLAPPED) the bill down on the table. The food was bland and no better than the corner pizza place in our local town. It was way too loud and our table was so crammed in we had to MOVE every time the equally rude waiter served the table behind us, which I'm pretty sure is a fire hazard. This dining experience was a drive-by with a one-hour time limit on our table. We had our apps almost before we ordered, and yes, they were cold. Whatever we ate did not sit well and we had to miss our play at the local theater that night to head home."

  • "They did a fanstastic job with their Restaurant Week menu!"
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "The restaurant's atmosphere was immediately warm and friendly. Despite a very crowded dining room our service was quick, efficient, and friendly, We chose from the Restaurant Week specials list and you'd never guess this wasn't the full menu. Food was delicious. Cesar Salad was creamy and garlicky, Portion sizes were perfect and just very, very good."

  • "Our group of 6 was immediately seated on a very busy Monday night. The place is a little dark and the throwback special prices are a deal. Thumbs up for the Chicken Parmagiano. A hallmark of a good restaurant is consistency. I dined here 3-4 weeks ago and had the chicken parmesan as well. The chicken is tender and the marinara sauce pops with flavor. The place is a little dark; however, we were seated by the windows so it was not an issue for our group."

  • "Pricey... Good food, had to wait 15 min to be seated even though we had reservations."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "The food was great but the waiter was horrible. It was almost as if he was high on something. This was our second poor experience so we are done. Very let down because friends of ours love this place."

  • "They do a great job at Basil Ts. The month of March includes Roll Back specials that are too good to pass up. The regular menu includes great pizza and italian specialties. The place is full of returning guests so that tells you something."

  • "Everything was excellent at Basil T's, as usual, except that the last time we went, it was so dark in there we couldn't read the menu! The server apologized (apparently, quite a few diners had complained but no one had corrected the situation), and suggested that if one of us had a "smart phone" with a flashlight feature, we should use that!!!!!! Fortunately, my phone does, and as odd and inconvenient as it was, we DID use it! Mood lighting is fine, but that was ridiculous! The one star rating I gave in the "ambiance" category was because of the terrible lighting. NORMALLY, I would have given it 4 or 5 stars. Not THIS time! Votive candles don't work well as reading lights!"

  • "Tues. eve., 5:00 for 2; place was packed. No wait time. Free lot parking. Hostess was friendly. Bar was packed. Nice “Italian” setting; very clean, frsh tomatos all over, bottles of wine. Server seemed frazzled. He explained place was empty and within 30 mins had filled right up. Basil’s was running a price freeze special for the month. Salad was OK, as was chicken parm. Pasta perfect al dente. Meatball’s skimpy as compared to others, but was good. Noise level was excessive. Overall food quality as compared to price has me questioning value/ revisit. On-site brewed beer was very nice, especially red ale."
