A word from Bascom's Chop House
When the original Bascom came to Florida at the turn of the last century to help Henry Flagler build the Key West Railroad, he brought with him his love for thick cut chops and juicy steaks. During his travels he also discovered the bounties of fresh native Florida seafood. We have brought all of his favorites together in a true American Chop House that pays tribute to Bascom's hearty appetite and a passion for great steaks, chops and fresh seafood. In his honor, we have made Bascom's Chop House a comfortable, yet elegant, American restaurant. We are proud to offer a superbly crafted wine list and American Mid-Western beef, aged to our own exacting specifications to ensure the most tender and flavorful steaks served anywhere at any price. And, true to our Bascom's Chop House name, we also offer hand-cut veal, pork and lamb chops all prepared to perfection, as well as a great selection of native seafood delivered fresh daily.Continued

  • "My wife and I live just minutes away from downtown St Pete, so when we go out for dinner, which is frequently, we generally hit the downtown spots. This past Saturday, we were in the mood to shake it up, but we didn't feel like driving to Tampa. We thought of Bascom's, which is a frequent enough lunch stop for us, but not a dinner spot. It was a great choice! Wonderful food, great server (Sara - with no 'h'), decent wine list, and, on top of all that, a 25% discount on bottles of wine on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings! NOBODY gives wine discounts on the weekend! The entire experience was excellent, and we definitely will go back again for dinner!"

  • "Capital Grille it is not but neither are the prices. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides very tasty. Pretty limited wine list. However it was a business night out that did not break the bank or the need to trek over to Tampa. If you are in mid Pinellas and want a good place to bring a business associate or client I would highly recommend Bascom's."

  • "I visited with my dad, who was in a wheelchair. We were treated very well. The atmosphere is very nice. The waitresses very courteous. We ordered an appetizer, which came very quickly followed by our salads and the main meal, which was prime rib. The prime rib was right on the money. Cooked to perfection and very tasty. The Father's Day weekend, It was a little noisy but that's to be expected. We live close by, and so we have known the restaurant for some time. We will dine again and look forward to it.   • "Food is excellent...so many great dishes that it is hard to choose which to note, i.e., aged bone-in rib eye, filet, lump crab cocktail, Ceaser salad, Bascomb's salad, crabcakes, veggies, cheesecake, ahi tuna. Ambience is a bit too "steakhouse". Service is always "above and beyond". The waitstaff recommends good, reasonable wines, provides the exact amount of attention one needs and anticipates everything to make your dining experience extremely pleasurable."

  • "Great steak house in Clearwater. I've eaten here a few times and this time was my least favorite time. Both my and my husband's steak was a bit overcooked. My husband's prime rib was better than my filet. I ordered it medium but it was a bit crispy on the outside which dried the inside. They charge extra for Bearnaise sauce which I usually love but it was extremely thick this time. I couldn't use it. Save room for dessert and try the custard with fresh fruit."

I am never happy with a $$$ entree where veggies are extra and may not be substituted for the included potato. My friend enjoyed her shrimp pasta, but we both said we would NOT dine here again."

  • "I have been here a few times and have always loved it; however, this visit was not the best. I ordered the chicken (as usual) but it actually tasted bad - as in old. Although the waiter was very attentive in the beginning, after the meal was delivered he vanished. When he finally came back to us we explained that the child we had with us was very antsy and would like our check as soon as possible. After 30 minutes, the check finally came."

It's Clearwater's best kept secret.. The food is 4 Star, the service is stellar and atmosphere and ambiance is second to none.. As long as we are in Florida this is were we prefer to eat.. "

  • "A Mother's Day treat - big steak at a specialty house. Yes, they have seafood and other choices, but I think of Bascom's for the primary menu items - classics! Our only "beef" with this experience was how loud and noisy the dining room felt - lots of loud conversations that made speaking and hearing a problem. Still, very good Porterhouse and filet, sides were only OK sized but good. Drinks were well done. We'll be back, hopefully for a more quiet experience next time."

  • "We have eaten at Bascom's many times over the years. We have always enjoyed the experience between the wonderful food, great service and quiet atmosphere. That is why we decided to make reservations at Bascom's for Mother's Day. Bascom's was serving a buffet style lunch, the food was wonderful, however the atmosphere was very loud, the buffet was hard to maneuver and our server was not friendly. Even though disappointed with our Mother's Day experience we will be back on a less popular day. "

  • "Just wasn't much to write home to mom about. Seared tuna was extremely veiny...would not have been used for sushi. Salad was moderate, waited quite some time for bread and water after reminding server. Girlfriend's steak was very tasty...wasn't medium rare, but was very tasty. Overall, it wasn't a particularly bad meal, but for price and what I was anticipating I just wasn't impressed. I would go back if it were someone else's choice, but there are plenty of other steakhouses and seafood restaurants around."
