A word from Bascom's Chop House
When the original Bascom came to Florida at the turn of the last century to help Henry Flagler build the Key West Railroad, he brought with him his love for thick cut chops and juicy steaks. During his travels he also discovered the bounties of fresh native Florida seafood. We have brought all of his favorites together in a true American Chop House that pays tribute to Bascom's hearty appetite and a passion for great steaks, chops and fresh seafood. In his honor, we have made Bascom's Chop House a comfortable, yet elegant, American restaurant. We are proud to offer a superbly crafted wine list and American Mid-Western beef, aged to our own exacting specifications to ensure the most tender and flavorful steaks served anywhere at any price. And, true to our Bascom's Chop House name, we also offer hand-cut veal, pork and lamb chops all prepared to perfection, as well as a great selection of native seafood delivered fresh daily.Continued

  • "From the moment we arrived to a very warm welcome, this was a memorable evening. Service was attentive and well-paced throughout. Caesar salads included anchovies and were huge, with just the right amount of dressing and a very tasty crusted cheese ring, versus the normal grated cheese. Bone-in ribeye was exquisite and the grouper fish dish was a big hit with two others in our party for its flavor and size. Salmon wasn't very big and lacked a little flavor despite an oscar topping. A relatively minor complaint versus the overall quality of fare. Wish the restaurant was closer to our home."

  • "You don't want to miss Bascom's. Our recent Monday night dinner did not disappoint! We have dined there many times and, as usual, the food and service was perfect! The filet mignon is the best around.....it was hot, tender, and cooked to perfection. The Caesar salad is also a winner. Would also like to mention that Bascom's hosted our son's rehearsal dinner last November. We had the entire upstairs facility (with bar in middle) for approx. 75 guests and it, too, was a winner. Great layout for a big party. Food and service and price was excellent and your Catering Mgr., Keith, couldn't have been better.....very professional pleasant and accessible, whenever we called him."

  • "Wonderful food and service, along with a desire to improve when something is pointed out tat needs improvement, no matter how minor. The portions are extremely generous. It was wonderful when portions were divided to fit the appetites of two without any extra charge for an extra plate. American restaurants so often make the mistake of huge portions, huge prices, while providing boxes to carry home the excess, mostly to grow grey in the fridge. We found our dinner at Bascom's to be a very fine value. SWe look forward to returning soon. mk"

  • "Reservations are easy to make and upon arrival we were greeted and seated! Our waiter was attentive, jovial, informative and very knowledgeable about the menu. We were in a small alcove room with about 7 tables. Most of the bar noise was muffled. The "specials" were filling and delicious. My prime rib was done perfectly--pink rare! AND, the chocolate no flour torte was exceptional! AND we were fed and out in more than enough time to make the show. This was our third time at Bascom's and it certainly won't be the last. It is consistantly excellent."

  • "The restaurant is quiet and we especially like the smaller dining rooms, making it feel much more quiet. Our waitress was exceptional and recited everything from memory. Unfortunately, the kitchen got a couple of things mixed up, but the food was excellent despite the little "topping" problem. Definitely will go back as I want to try the pork chop veal chop and the lamb chops. Also wish to try it for lunch sometime too!!"

  • "Don't get me wrong, the food tasted great but with the prices that we all pay, we do expect decent to excellent service. It was at least 5 minutes after our food was served when the waitress stopped to see if everything was alright. My wife's food was luke warm to cool. There are too many other places to go frequent and get better service and hot food. We will probably go back but it will not be at the top of our list."

  • "Recent romantic pre-concert dinner for two.....we brought our own special wine ($20 corkage fee is very reasonable). Our waitress was new to the job and very attentive! The food was outstanding and with some never before seen prep/presentations by this diner. Lightly fired chunks of sweet lobster with a wonderful light dipping sauce. Escargots in puff pastry. They even split the 24 oz ribeye for us and prepared it to our 2 different temps for us! My compliments to the chef! We will be back here every time we come back to the Tampa area for a show."

  • "The hostess was very nice to get us a quiet table. The server noted that I wanted my filet pink, not red and not bloody, when I ordered it upper medium. Mine was the bloodiest while another in our party ordered medium rare, rare. I had it boxed so I could cook it properly at home. (Why go out if the can't do it correctly?) Our server gave us time to visit and we did not feel rushed through our meal, at first. Some plates were cleared while someone was still eating. I feel that is rude and makes those people feel rushed to finish. This is not a quick service restaurant. We come here for a dining experience. At least we were not rushed through in 45 minutes as we were the prior time."

  • "The hostess tried to seat us at a small round table completely out of place against the back wall in the dining room. We'd walked by some normal tables that were unoccupied so I refused. Pretty insulting and a bad start. Our waiter brought our soup/salad BEFORE our appetizer. Prime rib was good. We never saw the dessert tray. He jut described the desserts. We had dessert and our table was cleared and he disappeared again for so long that a manager asked what we might be waiting for. It was the check. The manager brought our check and comped our dessert. I hadn't said a thing, he just noticed. Nice of him and I do realize they were very busy but that really doesn't matter to me. We eat here pretty often but are questioning it now."

Our waiter was very knowledgeable and pleasant, but must have been busy in another part of the restaurant. If the service improves, it will be a great place to dine."
