A word from Bar.Vetro
Featuring dynamic cuisine in a sensual atmosphere, the most exciting Italian restaurant on the East Side is bar.vetro. Meaning "glass" in Italian, vetro refers to the muted green, transparent glass sheet that dominates the bar area, as if floating. The intimate dining room, decorated in cool grays and suffused with warm lavender light, is the perfect compliment to the innovative menu, which features small plates known as "assagi" throughout Italy, ideal for sharing with the table or sampling as a tasting dinner. In addition to their small plates bar.vetro also offers a wide variety of salads, pasta, chicken, fish and veal dishes.

Equally wonderful as an after-work drinks destination or as an all-night stop for dinner and a chance to experience its excellent, moderately priced wine selection, bar.vetro also features an outdoor seating area in a sunken garden just outside its front doors. Enjoy one of the house cocktails or one of 20 wines by the glass...

  • "Great value here. Unpretentious. but the super fresh ingredients and generous portions would be at home in a fancier setting. The eggplant rollatini appetizer is the best ever!"

  • "We done here once a week and find it to be consistently terrific. The food and the service are always exceptional. This is one of the few places in New York where the manager and staff really try to make sure you have a good dining experience. My wife and I find it hard to go anyplace else in the neighborhood."

  • "Had an enjoyable evening here with business associates. Great service, drinks and small plates. There were a few groups who had come after work for drinks and thus the noise level was a little high but everyone was enjoying themselves and it was not too bad in the dining area. The decor was a little plain. Could use some artwork on the walls. We had just a few items off the menu. Both were delicious. All in all a very nice place for drinks and a bite to eat. Service was very good and everyone in my group said they would definitely come back."

  • "We enjoy going to this restaurant as a sure shot in the neighborhood. The owner is alwys gracious and welcomes us with his superb style and flair. We enjoy the menu and it's variety. Pleased to see that pizza is now on the menu for a change of pace. We have sugggested this restaurant to tourists when they visit Bloomingdale's."

  • "We were in NYC for a vacation during a heat wave. It happened to be my husbands birthday and he was looking forward to a particular dish they happen to be known for. When they said they had already sold out and he told them it was his birthday, the sent over a bottle of prosecco and offered some interesting items not on the menu. Super loud was my only real complaint but it took us out of our grumpy sweaty moods very quickly."

  • "The eggplant and ricotta appetizer was so good I was sorry I agreed to share. The red gravy was so good I was sorry I ordered the salmon risotto, though it was so good, we will just have to come back."

  • "This has to be the greatest value/quality restaurant in Manhattan. The lunch was first rate with rolled eggplant for appetizer, followed by perfectly baked grouper with a glass of fabulous wine all for $17! Try that in Paris, Rome, or Hoboken!"

No matter the dish tje food is always great. Perfect for a quiet date or a evening of conversation with friends. The wait staff is great and Tony is always amazing, with a smile on his face and a hello as you enter the room."

  • "We got this recommendation from a friend who is a frequent NYC visitor. The restaurant is an easy 10 minute from the New York Hilton on 6th Avenue (aka Avenue of the Americas). The food was delicious in this small restaurant just south east of Central Park. We both had a salads, followed by pasta and duck (special of the day). Service at the bar is excellent (Anastasia). Some of the tables against the wall may be too far away from a window a little too enclosed for the claustrophobically inclined amongst us. We had a bottle of sparkling wine (chardonnay based methode champenoise), followed by a pretty good bottle of italian red. Both were very reasonably priced (below $ 40)."
