Diner Reviews
  • "Although a bit pricy, Barton G. is more than a restaurant - it's an experience! The food is tasty - yes. But,it's really about the presentation and having fun with it. The service is always great."

  • "My girlfriend and I had been having a terrible couple of weeks.. So we decided, let's take each other out on a great dinner and drinks date. The service was fantastic.. The drinks, to die for!! The food incredible.. We sat outside and felt like we may have been driving people with the flash of our camera everytime something else was delivered to the table, but it was the norm. As each dish and drink were a different unique & incredible experience. Clearly a biot too pricey to do on the daily.. But we may have to splurge and do this once a month. We had a great time and forgot about all of our troubles! Thank you Barton G!"

  • "Dinner was delicious and we absolutely loved all the fun presentations. Perfect for a special occasion!"

  • "This was my second visit, and the high drama of the presentation was still there, though not quite as high as it was. Higher still were the prices. $28 for a cocktail?? Ditto for cotton candy? The outdoor dining space was very nice and service was friendly and professional. The food was good - to - very good, in some cases novel and unique. Execution of the dishes was certainly competent, though in some cases unexceptional. If this is sounding a bit mixed, well, that's because the place is a bit mixed. Go for the high drama and fun factor, but expect to pay dearly for it."

  • "I was expecting more from this restaurant. The drinks are OK. The food average and the portions are OK not huge. Prices are high. For this prices I prefer to visit other places."

  • "Made this the "last supper" before heading back North to cold weather. Walked a few blocks from Mondrian Hotel. I am sure everyone has spoken to the almost Alice in Wonderland-esq exotic presentation of foods. The food is hot and delicious and everyone will enjoy no matter their age. Honestly, the parade of dishes in route to other tables is the entertainment."

  • "Atmosphere, presentation, martinis are very good. Food is ok , nothing special but presentation Is very unusual and fun. Prices are high and portions Are huge so great for groups."

  • "My boyfriend took me to Barton G for date night and it is, by far, one of the best experiences we have ever had at a restaurant. The plating and presentation were spectacular, extremely fun and entertaining. The service was excellent as well. Everything we ate was delicious, I particularly recommend the short ribs. Although the food was good, this restaurant is definitely a winner because of the ambience and the fun environment. I would definitely recommend it!!!!"

  • "amazing presentation, breathtaking experience would love to go again very soon can't get enough of this place"

  • "Best food presentation I have seen in my life. Service was exceptional but not as exceptional as the presentation. Noisy with a big kid's birthday party next to us but not so loud that we had to speak louder or lean in to hear."

  • "The restaurant focuses most on presentation of food and not the taste and flavor. I love dessert however I refuse to pay over $30 for a sweet treat. The cheapest dessert was $29 and it went up from there. Don't get me wrong I love a great experience but this place just goes overboard."

  • "Not enough table spade for massive food presentations. Food was great, service somewhat pretentious. Every recommendation happened to be the priciest menu item of each category. Overall fun experience."

  • "Noisy, gimmicky (iPad tablet menu-one for the entire table) and too many non-edible toys make this a one-time experience. At about $100 per person, the food was just good (nothing to rave about), but the portions small, and too many toys on the plate take center stage and distract from the food and great service. Wine list is good and reasonably priced, but not worth a return visit. There are too many better venues nearby with great food to partake to waste your money here."

  • "My meal at Barton G's was good, but not great. I had the sea bass, which was cooked perfectly but under seasoned. My friend's tuna was overcooked, and my daughter enjoyed her lobster mac and cheese. The problem is that the restaurant is extremely expensive and the food just isn't good enough to justify the price. The restaurants schtick is to make eating fun. They do this by using props to decorate the dishes. Adding potted plants to my plate of sea bass doesn't really enhance my enjoyment of the dish. There is a difference between using the food elements on the plate to enhance presentation and using non edible props which seems both gimmicky and juvenile. I am glad I went once, but would never go again. I The venue is lovely."

  • "I have been to this restaurant twice in the 20+ years I have been in South Florida, both times because my date wanted to go there for a special occasion. The restaurant's food quality is poor and the pricing is obscene, yet my date has had a wonderful experience on both occasions. So, here is the niche for Barton G The Restaurant - it is a place for couples and groups of couples to go for your love's pleasure. I have not seen a table that appeared to involve a business dinner, but that is not the purpose of the restaurant. Go there with low expectations for the food and high expectations for the favorable reactions from your companion - that must be acceptable for most customers considering the restaurant's longevity in a trendy market."

  • "I was immediately impressed when they called to confirm the reservation and gave me a brief description of the experience and the very casual dress code. As we arrived a bus full invaded the restaurant, wasn't expecting that. In fact I made a comment to my friend that this didn't seem to be the kind of place a tour bus would stop. The employee at the front over heard me, embarrassing, and said I should join them and maybe eat for free. After that uncomfortable start everyone and everything else was pretty good. The food is great, the drinks over the top. Location matters, ask for the garden. We were seated in a veranda area which was just okay."

  • "The courtyard is a very pretty spot to eat. The food presentation was creative and fun. The dessert portions were huge and overpriced. Smaller portions at a reasonable price would be better. I don't know if I would go back too often ,the novelty might wear off unless the presentation is changed often."

  • "I was on vacation with my wife and 2 teenage daughters and wanted a special night out in SOBE. Barton G did not let us down. The restaurant is simply fun, meal presentation is unforgettable. The appetizers were shared as were the main courses so we could all enjoy. The food is very good, not top shelf excellent but Barton G isn't just about the meal but about the atmosphere and TOP SHELF presentation and service. The presentation of each and every item is simply unforgettable. Our server, Scott, and the rest of the team were exceptional. They helped make the evening the fun event I had hoped for. The evening's bill came in a neat little envelope with the words "The Damage" printed on it, which was appropriate."

  • "I took my girlfriend for her birthday because it was recommended by a lot of people. My first impression.. I love the ambiance! Very romantic and intimate and the hostess was terrific. When I saw the menu it was in an ipad and almost fell out of my chair. EX-PEN-SIVE! $30 for a drink is a bit too much. I ordered the drinks and it was nothing out of this world. Presentation was good but really didnt even feel it. We ordered our food and it was ALOT. The food was not good it was fair at best. Definitely not worth the price. We ordered a little bit because again the serving was a lot and I did not want to order another $30 drink. Because of that the waitress ignore us. She was spending more time with the big spenders. We left very disappointed"

  • "you need to find something inventive to do with the presentation of pasta dishes instead of just a neat bowl---maybe a big piece of pasta or a big "Luigi""

  • "We have been Barton G several times. Our meals this time were poor. Meals were slow to arrive to the table and smaller than before. The owner told us that he is moving to California so that might relate to the poor service. We will probably not go to Barton G. again, nor to Miami Beach again, due to the horrible traffic.Things are much better on the Gulf Coast in Naples.were we will be next year. Ronald walker"

  • "Overall very nice ambiance with unique and grand food presentation. Unfortunately the food does not reflect its fabulous presenttion. Expensive prices for mediocre food taste/quality. Would not recommend this place for foodie, but if you want to hve a fun time and don't mind spending a lot of money it'll work. Drinks are very uniques and once again great presentation. Worth seeing."

  • "I took my wife here for small plates and dessert. The drinks are very good and the ambience of the presentation is great. The shrimp spring roll was not so good. The shrimp was completely overlooked and dry. The desserts are huge. They are enough for 4-6 people. So beware if you are a party of two."

  • "We celebrated our anniversary. We sat in the garden which has white beach shades and tables too close. Also you can hear the noisey street traffic more then background music, not that romantic.!! Hostesses were loud and unproffessional and joked the whole time. Menu on ipads (no pictures)looked promising but all drinks and food were average, not worth over price tag. Got bucket of bones for appetizer $27 for five pcs and sea bass $44 and skirt steak $38 for entrees, veggies not cooked and lack of seasoning on sea bass that came with fries?! no fabulous presentation! dessert chocolate indulgence was hugh and too sweet and came in treasure box. The bill was $260.add valet $15(you can find street parking much cheaper) we not coming back!!!"

  • "Although the gimmicky "giant" forks and other dish appropriate props kept us entertained, the dishes themselves failed to wow us. Overpriced and average, Barton G is not on our "must go back" list."

  • "We started celebrating our daughter's birthday at Barton G in 1994, and our visits are always a treat. This one measured up to the previous ones in food quality, wait service, and the "WOW Factor". . .something Barton G is known for! We very much enjoyed our evening and did not feel hurried or rushed. We weren't big fans of the menus on I-pads which came on big acrylic boards that sat on your table until you decided what you wanted. . .they really took up a lot of space and inhibited conversation across the table. Also, not enough light on the tables outside. . .we had to ask for more candles to see our food on the plate. But the food we ate was delicious!! Come with your wallets open because you will spend the big bucks here. . ."

  • "Cocktails and appetizers were great. (Sabrinatini & popcorn shrimp) We had the Skirt Steak and it was TERRIBLE! Lack of seasoning and burnt! (We asked for medium well) Food came with NO PRESENTATION, on a tray as if we were in high school (isn't presentation the whole point of this restaurant)? Lobster Mac and cheese was amazing. Overall, I will NEVER be visiting this restaurant again!"

  • "Menus are on iPads attached to big heavy lucite frames, but only one per table so the whole party can't review the menu at once. The menu type is small and the iPads are programmed not to allow you to enlarge the type. And you need a password to look at some pages of the menu. The daily specials aren't even on the menu - even good restaurants with traditional printed menus can print a daily menu Main courses are served on plates with huge plastic toys designed to block your line of sight to your dining companions. We're used to NYC menu pricing but $30+ for uninspired desserts is way out of line. Nice setting, average food, horrible experience."

  • "I should have done more research on this before I made the reservation. My bad. The entertainment factor of the food presentation seemed silly and weird to me. If you want your food presented with strange props - this is the place. I was embarressed to have brought my best friend to such a side-show. And the price wasn't worth the food."
