Diner Reviews
  • "We found the dining exceptional. We spent a sunny summer afternoon surrounded by the beauty of Lake Michigan and Lake Park. Our waiter was professional and easily provided recommendations and information to our preparation inquires. All entrees were deemed excellent to superb. Those we considered the most exceptional were both the salmon and the duck. Since we were ready to indulge in desserts, our waiter once again was ready with sharing his favorites, walnut cake, chocolate mousse, and crime brûlée. Each was consumed with delight with the walnut cake winning a slight (very slight) preference."

  • "The Rose of the day was crisp, clean, and delicious. I had a couple bites of my mother's French onion soup and it is hands down the best I've ever had. Our server Christopher was gracious and helpful. This was my second experience at Lake Park Bistro and it was even better than the first."

  • "Having heard of Lake Park Bistro for 20 years, I was disappointed that the food and service were both unremarkable. Waiters were friendly but inattentive and drink service was slow. Food was fine but nothing special. My wife and I used gift cards; if we had paid cash, we would have been extremely disappointed. Doubt we will return."

  • "We celebrate our wedding anniversary here most years and are not disappointed. Our server this year was amazing and everyone made our brunch experience special. From the hostess who seated us and gave us an anniversary card, to the servers bringing a complimentary glass of champagne, it was very lovely. The brunch menu is amazing and the three courses are so elegant compared to a buffet. We go early to avoid crowds, so we had a quiet table by the window overlooking the lake. Highly recommend!"

  • "We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at Lake Park Bistro and is was fantastic! I requested a window table overlooking Lake Michigan in my OpenTable reservation and that detailed request was granted. We were introduced to two waitresses to serve us during the evening and they were very pleasant and helpful with entree recommendations. The less expereinced waitress (Jamie) was very attentive and cheerful throughout the dining experience. The food was amazing from presentation, taste and portion.....it was a memorable way to commemorate our anniversary!!"

  • "My husband and I made a dinner reservation to celebrate our anniversary. I requested a table with a lake view two days in advance, but we were seated one row in from the window and couldn't easily see past the other diners without intruding on their privacy. The place was pretty packed and the noise level was uncomfortable; we could not converse effectively. The interior was not as formal as I expected--more beachy and generic. One picture on the wall was hung upside-down. The wait was quite long because of the busy-ness. The wait staff was very professional, however, and the food we ordered (duck and a steak) was delicious. This is not the sort of expense we make a habit of, but it was a fun outing for a very special occasion!"

  • "We were celebrating our second anniversary and both times we have dined at Lake Park Bistro. This year's experience was very different than last year's. First, on my reservation, I made a note that we were celebrating an anniversary and would like a table by the window. While we were able to secure a window seat, the note on our table said "Happy Birthday!" (oops). The food was outstanding like we expected it to be, especially the gnocchi and french onion soup. However, the service was very poor. I understand that it was a busy evening, but our dinner experience should not have taken two and a half hours. If we were treated equally and attended to regularly, we could have saved an hour of our time. I don't think we'll be back next year."

  • "The service was slow. The food is okay, but quite expensive. My waitress took 20 minutes to bring me a lemonade."

  • "The saumon and bass were OK, but not as special as in the past. Veggies and starch were skimpy. Deserts and salads, especially the laitue still very good. Chenin blanc was good. Surprisingly empty on Independence Day Eve, compared to years' past."

  • "First rate service, excellent French food, one of the few lake views in the Milwaukee restaurant scene. A great place for a special occasion. The pork pate was a standout, and the lunch menu provides some excellent bargains for such a unique and special dining experience."

  • "Sunday Brunch for Grandma's birthday was awesome. We love the elegant format and the food is top notch with lots of choices. We'll be back!"

  • "My husband and I enjoyed Sunday brunch at the restaurant. He had the Salmon and I had the burger. Both were done very well and were delicious! The meals come as three courses including your appetizer and dessert along with your entree. We had very nice service that were so helpful in our choices and were available without being intrusive. Overall a really nice dining experience."

  • "We had an international group (of fussy food types) visiting who needed to go to dinner. Usually we have bookings at top grade restaurants in many overseas cities. I was able to get a good table for 10 and had great comments from everyone. Service was good, and food was up to the usual standard. Good comments on the wine list. Everyone agreed it was good."

  • "This is our second experience dining here and it was just as fabulous as the previous one. Food was exquisite and it is a fine dining experience. The escargot is to die for and the lamb T-bones were exquisite. And, the Creme Brûlée.....what can one say...scrumptious!"

  • "The food was exquisite, wait staff were knowledgable, available, yet not overbearing. The ambience is elegant and comfortable."

  • "A friend's recommendation led us here for a delightful lunch overlooking the changing sky and lake. Food was fabulous, especially the mussels, whose leftover sauce we even took home to use in another meal, it was that good! Lovely, romantic atmosphere and superb service. We will definitely return any time we are in Milwaukee again."

  • "Having lived in Paris, I've been in search of the perfect duck dish since my return to Milwaukee. Lake Park Bistro is the closest thing to Paris duck that I can find in Milwaukee and its French cuisine is the best around. The mix of herbs, oil and puff pastry in the escargot makes it the perfect starter. Regardless of how full I am after eating the succulent duck, I always make room for creme brulee. There is nothing that compares to cracking through the caramelized top of the creme brulee. I can't wait to return for our anniversary in September! As always, service was spectacular. What a treat!"

  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at LPB this past Sunday and the experience was delightful. Wonderful service, outstanding food, a beautiful setting and a magically made dry martini provided the basis of a wonderful evening. It was a great way to share an anniversary evening with someone I love."

  • "This time at Lake Park Bistro, half of the scenic dining room was occupied by a private party. Not only were they loud, but with all of the regular diners crammed into the other half of the room the noise was too loud for pleasant dining. Everyone had to raise their voice, thus I heard the full story of the nervous breakdown suffered by the man two tables over. The inside dining room was empty. I was dining with my elderly father and after a while we just gave up conversing. Food was excellent as always, too bad the atmosphere wasn't."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Lake Park Bistro in Milwaukee. We have enjoyed excellent dining experiences there before and this evening reaffirmed our pleasure in this great restaurant. We were greeted with a happy anniversary wish and seated at a table for two at the window with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. Our two servers were friendly and very professional. We enjoyed a wonderful pâté and cheese plate to start and II also enjoyed a great steak tartare (hard to find a restaurant that serves this well). My wife had a great filet mignon with frites and bérnaise sauce. I had the rotisserie chicken with incredible mashed potatoes and mushrooms. The wine selection is vast with quality. Great cozy atmosphere"

  • "I have been to the Bistro, many times, and loved the quality of food and service. My recent visit I ordered filet steaks, snap peas, potatoes. What we received was not a thick steak but what looked like two Salisbury steaks on three tablespoons of potatoes and 3 snap peas, yep 3! The sauce was delicious, the rest extremely disappointing, one glass of soda no refill, till after my meal was finished. Oh yea we used to get a yummy French roll and butter. This time old dry hard pieces of bread crust like. Sadly very disappointed!"

  • "We ordered the beat salad that was well executed . We specifically stated that we wished to share a bowl of soup. The bowl with 2 spoons was served. When I asked her why the kitchen did not present us with 2 bowls, she said we did not ask.My guest had the chicken breast that she deemed safe in seasoning and prep but nothing to have a wow factor. The braised lettuce with melted cheese did'nt work well as the wilted lettuce & cheese did'nt pair well in texture or taste. The PEI mussel dish was bad.The broth was exceedingly salty. the PEI's were about the size of peas. PEI's were were so overly salted that I could not could not eat them. The server took 15.00 off the bill. A manager never stopped to talk with us about our experience."

  • "Choosing to eat at Lake Park Bistro offers food choices for everyone. If you have a food restriction of any kind, the chefs easily make the accommodations. In addition, all the servers, especially Greg, know the menu well and are able to explain the preparation of the various food choices. Eating at the Bistro is always a fine experience from the moment you enter to the time you leave."

  • "For me, Lake Park Bistro isn't a frequent dinner place. I like it 1-3 times a year for special occasions personally, (birthday/anniversary) or when I want to entertain a special guest. Food is always good. If it isn't right they'll fix it (food or drink). Service is usually remarkable with well trained waiters - flare, humor and knowledgeable of the menu. Always a friendly human touch when "Joe is in the house" walking from table to table to make sure all is well. Nothing like the personal touch. That' called commitment. You find it at Bartalotta restaurants."

  • "For us going to The Lake Park Bistro is saved for special occasions, and this time we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The staff and the food at The Bistro did not disappoint. Chris, our Server was very friendly, knowledgable and profesional. THe food was served at the right temperature and delicious making for an enjoyable evening."

  • "The only complaint was noise level (can't be helped, given the wood floors and ceiling) and the food could have been a little hotter. Otherwise, the two entrees (salmon and halibut) were delicious, and well presented. Waiter Casey was delightful."

  • "The staff is the greatest part of this restaurant. That is a tough thing to say as the food was divine and the view was fabulous. Our servers were so kind and attention to detail was amazing. When making the Open Table reservation, I mentioned my boyfriend's birthday and they absolutely incorporated that into our evening. The only (small) concern is that because how close the tables were, I felt we couldn't have a private conversation. Now, we are in public, so that is to be expected, but everyone's conversation around us was something we could hear. Food was amazing, creme brûlée was delicious and the service was impeccable! And the bartender mixed wonderful old-fashioneds!"

  • "Interesting menu, but limited on fish options. Uncommon vegetables limit desirability of other menu items. No bread at first, then cold, then warm. Two waiters, one seems overburdened, the other very personable and helpful. No window seating for parties of 3 or more."

  • "We celebrated a birthday - specifically asked for a table by window overlooking the lake. When we arrived no such table was available therefore we decided to wait until a table by the window was open. Waited 40 minutes still no table by window, sitted us next to 2 drunk, loud women who annoyed us during dinner."
