Diner Reviews
  • "Had dinner at LPB for our 17th wedding anniversary. By chance we were offered a window table which was wonderful. As usual the staff was very knowledgeable, polite and chatty. Dinner & dessert were second to none."

  • "Lake Park Bistro was perfect as always...lovely surroundings, delicious food, and excellent wait staff."

  • "Great brunch selection (which rotates just often enough) and beautiful view of Lake Michigan topped off with a glass of champagne - can't go wrong!"

  • "Lake Park Bistro lived up to its reputation. Took friends from out of town and we all enjoyed the meal and the service. Server was able to recommend a nice bottle of wine that was moderately priced and complemented our meals. Only negative is that the noise level is way too loud, making conversation difficult."

  • "We have spent our anniversary evening at Lake Park on six occasions. This past Saturday we enjoyed another great dining experience. Excellent food, excellent service, a romantic setting. Simply one of our most favorite restaurants."

  • "Foood was fantastic, and a great place to catch up with friends and family."

  • "Charcuterie was perhaps the highlight of this visit, not that the scallops and bistro steak and fillet weren't great, oh and the chocolate mousse with sorbet, all spectacular. Just the pork pate and duck liver mousse appetizer made us linger and literally mopped the plate clean with our toast points and baguette slices. Only bad thing was a private wedding dinner took over the lake view room , so the main dining room was packed and hustling and the parking was a nightmare."

  • "This was our second time at Lake Park Bistro. Our first experience at LPB was memorable - in part due to our waiter, Matt Gerber, who made it a special experience. This visit was also enjoyable, with a few notable exceptions. It would have been nice to know that there was a huge rehearsal dinner that evening so we may have planned accordingly. Our waitstaff was very good; attentive but not overbearing. The Oeuf Mollet avec Champignons salad and Laitue salad were excellent. The Fillet Mignon au Poivre was a very small portion and improperly cooked. The Canard Deau Facon was excellent, with tender lentils and crisp skin. Dessert off the Chef's menu -- good but not what the menu described - whipped cream vs ewe's milk cheese, no honey"

  • "We had been told about this restaurant by several people so we were excited to go there. On the surface it is a nice restaurant; great views with French cuisine and good wine. However, there are just a few details that weren't quite right. They are more of an upscale family friendly restaurant so don't be surprised if you have loud kids running around. Also, the waiter tried to give off the French waiter vibe but when I asked him some questions he was not knowledgeable at all. Food was OK, not great, and came out cold. My husband ordered a hangar steak and the plate came out with an overwhelming heap of fries. So if your primary purpose is the nice view and good wine, great. If you want a nice quiet romantic dinner, this is not the place"

  • "The ambiance was fantastic. It was bustling and there was a great deal of activity with every table appearing to truly enjoy the experience. Although the menu offered the best choices for foodies and conniseurs, there was nothing stuffy about the approach to a great meal. The service was friendly and helpful without being aloof. The waitstaff was excited about the great choices and appeared happy to serve you. They were knowledgeable and had great recommendations. The attire was everything from very casual to very dressy with any style appearing very comfortable in the atmosphere; the common thread: every customer loves a great meal. The French onion soup was delicious and every plate was delicieux!"

  • "We just spent a month in the City of Lights. We were anxious to see how Lake Park Bistro stacked up with some of our better dinners in Paris. We were both totally impressed with the entire experience. The food selections nodded toward the French, the service was just as professional, the wines were all French and the view from the bluff over Lake Michigan excels. We have been to Lake Park Bistro many times and never stay in Milwaukee without a visit. Merci!"

  • "We return here over the years for special family occasions, birthdays to anniversaries. Sunday prix-fixe brunch offered a small, nicely grouped selection of appetizers, main courses, and desserts. As always, food is delicious! Beautiful presentation, freshest ingredients. Moderate portions appreciated. Hangar steak cooked to perfection, delicious side sauce. In addition to fine food, the wait staff is serious, friendly, sincere, articulate and graceful, never intrusive, always effective in providing a memorable experience. We invite the chef to offer the life-long vegetarians among us more and better main-course options."

  • "I have been to Lake Park Bistro over the years many times. The service and food is always excellent. Ambience is also excellent, especially if you ask for a table near the window. The sound level is somewhat high, so if you are looking for "quiet and intimate", go somewhere else. I would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We have eaten here several times before but what really separated this experience from the others was the exceptional servers we had. Particularly, our main server (embarrassingly forget his name) was very personable and helpful but not overbearing at all. The food was excellent and we will be coming back again and again."

  • "First experience at Lake Park Bistro and I was highly impressed by the professionalism of the staff as well as the atmosphere and food, of course. We also had an uncooperative toddler with us who was welcomed the entire time."

  • "Food and service were excellent. No complaints. We especially enjoyed the escargot appetizer and the Oeuf Mollet avec Champignons."

  • "Our third visit to Lake Park Bistro. Very capable and timely service. Excellent dishes-the french onion soup was a standout. Each entree was carefully prepared and presented- the 3 course fixed price meal is a very good choice as well."

  • "My friend and I had a lovely table by the lake (as requested). We enjoyed our two course meal: we both had grass-fed burgers and fries with alioli sauce. She had a beet salad, and I enjoyed a cold asparagus soup. We had a terrific server also."

  • "We chose Lake Park Bistro to celebrate the first anniversary of our daughter and son-in-law. The menu had a very wide selection of items from which to choose, and the food was delicious and attractively presented. The servers were attentive and thoughtful."

  • "One of my girlfriends recently retired and me and another girlfriend took her out to lunch at Lake Park Bistro. Everything was excellent and our waitress was wonderful. When she accidentally brought the wrong soup, she left the incorrect one there and got the correct one immediately. Then, at the end of the meal, she brought out a crème brulee for the celebrant as a congratulations. Very nice touch! The only negative thing I would have to say is that I requested a table by the window but did not get it. I'm guessing that's because those tables are only for two people. Perhaps they could do some rearranging at time and accommodate parties over 2."

  • "Based on our experiences at other Bartolotta restaurants our entrees at Lake Park Bistro were disappointing. My dining partner and I both had the roast chicken which was well over-cooked. The accompanying sauce, mushrooms and mashed potatoes did nothing to support the dish. Our starter of mussels was good as were the selections from the excellenyt wine list. The service was also acceptable. In future we will skip this restaurant in favor of, in our opinion, the much better Bacchus downtown."

  • "We found the dining exceptional. We spent a sunny summer afternoon surrounded by the beauty of Lake Michigan and Lake Park. Our waiter was professional and easily provided recommendations and information to our preparation inquires. All entrees were deemed excellent to superb. Those we considered the most exceptional were both the salmon and the duck. Since we were ready to indulge in desserts, our waiter once again was ready with sharing his favorites, walnut cake, chocolate mousse, and crime brûlée. Each was consumed with delight with the walnut cake winning a slight (very slight) preference."

  • "The Rose of the day was crisp, clean, and delicious. I had a couple bites of my mother's French onion soup and it is hands down the best I've ever had. Our server Christopher was gracious and helpful. This was my second experience at Lake Park Bistro and it was even better than the first."

  • "We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at Lake Park Bistro and is was fantastic! I requested a window table overlooking Lake Michigan in my OpenTable reservation and that detailed request was granted. We were introduced to two waitresses to serve us during the evening and they were very pleasant and helpful with entree recommendations. The less expereinced waitress (Jamie) was very attentive and cheerful throughout the dining experience. The food was amazing from presentation, taste and portion.....it was a memorable way to commemorate our anniversary!!"

  • "Having heard of Lake Park Bistro for 20 years, I was disappointed that the food and service were both unremarkable. Waiters were friendly but inattentive and drink service was slow. Food was fine but nothing special. My wife and I used gift cards; if we had paid cash, we would have been extremely disappointed. Doubt we will return."

  • "We celebrate our wedding anniversary here most years and are not disappointed. Our server this year was amazing and everyone made our brunch experience special. From the hostess who seated us and gave us an anniversary card, to the servers bringing a complimentary glass of champagne, it was very lovely. The brunch menu is amazing and the three courses are so elegant compared to a buffet. We go early to avoid crowds, so we had a quiet table by the window overlooking the lake. Highly recommend!"

  • "My husband and I made a dinner reservation to celebrate our anniversary. I requested a table with a lake view two days in advance, but we were seated one row in from the window and couldn't easily see past the other diners without intruding on their privacy. The place was pretty packed and the noise level was uncomfortable; we could not converse effectively. The interior was not as formal as I expected--more beachy and generic. One picture on the wall was hung upside-down. The wait was quite long because of the busy-ness. The wait staff was very professional, however, and the food we ordered (duck and a steak) was delicious. This is not the sort of expense we make a habit of, but it was a fun outing for a very special occasion!"

  • "We were celebrating our second anniversary and both times we have dined at Lake Park Bistro. This year's experience was very different than last year's. First, on my reservation, I made a note that we were celebrating an anniversary and would like a table by the window. While we were able to secure a window seat, the note on our table said "Happy Birthday!" (oops). The food was outstanding like we expected it to be, especially the gnocchi and french onion soup. However, the service was very poor. I understand that it was a busy evening, but our dinner experience should not have taken two and a half hours. If we were treated equally and attended to regularly, we could have saved an hour of our time. I don't think we'll be back next year."

  • "The service was slow. The food is okay, but quite expensive. My waitress took 20 minutes to bring me a lemonade."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "The saumon and bass were OK, but not as special as in the past. Veggies and starch were skimpy. Deserts and salads, especially the laitue still very good. Chenin blanc was good. Surprisingly empty on Independence Day Eve, compared to years' past."

  • "First rate service, excellent French food, one of the few lake views in the Milwaukee restaurant scene. A great place for a special occasion. The pork pate was a standout, and the lunch menu provides some excellent bargains for such a unique and special dining experience."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed Sunday brunch at the restaurant. He had the Salmon and I had the burger. Both were done very well and were delicious! The meals come as three courses including your appetizer and dessert along with your entree. We had very nice service that were so helpful in our choices and were available without being intrusive. Overall a really nice dining experience."

  • "This is our second experience dining here and it was just as fabulous as the previous one. Food was exquisite and it is a fine dining experience. The escargot is to die for and the lamb T-bones were exquisite. And, the Creme Brûlée.....what can one say...scrumptious!"

  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at LPB this past Sunday and the experience was delightful. Wonderful service, outstanding food, a beautiful setting and a magically made dry martini provided the basis of a wonderful evening. It was a great way to share an anniversary evening with someone I love."
