Bartolotta's Lake Park BistroThe Besti have been to many restaurants over the years...our experience at Bartolotta's was THE BEST we have ever had!!! The food was absolutely outstanding and our waiter Paul Tubin was perfect.....The evening was memorable...Thank You...I now have a new place to dine when we come back to Milwaukee!!!

But even though the restaurant was not full, somehow the delays between courses were extensive - especially between appetizer and soup. Setting was excellent, a beautiful view of the lake. food was great. Had the classic steak frites. The apple walnut salad was very fresh tasting, but wish the bread was a little softer. Rotisserie chicken and potatos were a big hit with my wife. Service was excellent. It was very lively and relaxing. Our only problem was a wait for the first course, but the executive chef came out, apologized, and said the scallops were not prepared to his liking. They were the best scallops I have ever had.
Service was excellent, but friendly, not a snobbish French service, but an American ambiance.
My only other mild complaint was a little less salt, it can always be added but not taken away.
The mussels were of a size I had not seen and perfect. Halibut was also perfect.
Wine of course is wonderful.

We were greeted by an unfriendly host and were told that we would need to wait at least 45 minutes for a window table. We sat at the bar where we were ignored. The bartender finally acknowledged us after we sat there for 5 minutes. He slapped down a drink menu, and promptly left us to busy himself with something in the service area of the bar. He finally came over and took our order, and his demeanor changed. He was friendly and helpful. Our window table was made available in 30 minutes. Once we were seated, the evening turned into a very pleasant dining experience. We had an excellent waiter. The food is outstanding, but expensive. It is very classic french cuisine, but even for a picky pallet there are options for you. Even when I explore something out of my comfort zone, the meal still ends up being great, so for the less daring I encourage you to branch out.

Upon being seated, Mom noticed a folded upright card that wished her a happy hirthday. The waitor was very accommodating in bringing a low small table to put flowers on that we had brought. The salmon was delicous, and substitution to lentils from potatoes was not a problem. Mom was surprised by a slice of flourless chocolate cake topped with strawberries and cream with a candle, beautifully presented after the meal. You go to a great restaurant for great food. Our scallop appetizer was fabulous. My mushroom soup was wonderful and it was presented in a very appealing way. Our entrees were both great. I had the beef bourguignon and my bride had a filet mignon. She said that the steak was even better than what I grill at home. Imagine that! The view was wonderful. Service was excellent, with little extra surprises that set the evening apart as something very special. This was the perfect way for us to celebrate what has been the best year of our lives. I also buy gift certificates every year at Xmas for 2 family members and they enjoy coming here as well and your other properties that they have visited. .
