Diner Reviews
  • "As always, the food was exquisite. It's summer so the vegetables were melt-in-your mouth. I don't know what the chef does to the veggies but this place is one of the rare restaurants that serves vegetables that actually have taste and texture. The ahi tuna was perfect and the mushroom coated halibut was excellent. The desserts (yes, we were full but who can say no to their desserts) were so so so so so good. There's a chocolate mousse. . . ."

  • "We reserved a table for our 10th Anniversary and decided to stay in one of the rooms at the Inn (10% discount on food for inn guests was a nice perk). Scallops and NY Strip were our selections, and the presentation and taste were both first-rate. Jordan, the executive chef, prides himself on the freshest ingredients and on using food from local farmers and fishermen. His choices inure to the great benefit of his diners, and we were no exception. The service is also impeccable. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the dishes and about the wines that paired best with them. The wine list is a bit limited, but it has perfect choices. Pricing may seem a bit high, but this is a restaurant where you clearly get what you pay for -- and more."

  • "The restaurant is rather small and on a warm evening the AC is straining to maintain a comfortable temperature. Overall, the food was quite good but a slightly cooler room would have made the experience more pleasurable. The menu is small and does not include any local fish (e.g. stripped bass) which is somewhat surprising because the restaurant champions local food and lists the various local vendors it uses. The Bay has lots of fresh seafood but the chef prefers RI scallops and west coast (?) halibut. No local crabs, oysters or other fresh catch are offered."

  • "This was one of the finest dining experiences we've ever had. Our duck and halibut entrees were very well prepared and very interesting as well. Seasonings, flavors in food prep were rather unique and delicious. Our server/mixologist made great suggestions of his speciality drinks (delicious) and wine to pair with our food. Loved the chocolate tart too. We came away feeling very satisfied without feeling uncomfortably full. We'll be back."

  • "A spectacular dining experience...small menu, boutique ingredients, dishes designed to layer flavors, textures and all. Don't miss the Bartlett Pear..."

  • "We had a delightful dinner on a almost cool July evening at one of the two tables on the screened in porch. Food was remarkable in serving sizes that were appropriately, filling but not to the point you felt stuffed or needed a dogie bag. The Chef even brought out one of our entrees and came back to make sure everything was perfect, which it was. Two of us had the scallops and I had the Halibut prepared in a delightfully different way. The only slight flaw was the size of the tomato and mozzarella salad. But it too was tasty. The wine list was small but appropriate pairings for the foods on the menu. ."

  • "My husband and I have eaten at Chef Jordan Lloyd's fabulous restaurant numerous times, but this is the first time we tried the tasting menu and wine pairings. We selected the ahi tuna and the pork belly for our appetizers. Both were sizable portions which were not only delicious but were displayed artfully. For the entrees, we chose the duck and the halibut . Both were to-die-for and, as always, cooked to perfection. We topped off the evening by splitting the chocolate tart. The wines that were chosen to accompany each dish were excellent selections and complimented each course perfectly. If you haven't been to The Bartlett Pear Inn and are looking for the best food on the Eastern Shore, then put this restaurant at the top of your list."

  • "Not sure you really want to hear this. We had to ask for bread plates, service X 2, larger portions, out food to be heated. I cleared the table myself after waiting much too long. In short, it was a very disappointing evening. We had looked forward to it. We could not recommend it to anyone and will not return. My husband talked me into giving a good tip. Our waitress was very nice but much to inexperienced. The worse part was cold food that was not very good. We went elsewhere the next night. Somehow we got into a conversation about the restaurants in Easton. Out waitress int he second restaurant said that she had heard our same report from several customers. In some ways I was glad to hear that. It validated our experience."

  • "Celebrated our wedding anniversary here last Saturday and had a lovely time. The quality of the food and service are tops, and the complimentary Prosecco with our dinner was a lovely and appreciated touch. The ONLY suggestion I would make is for this divine restaurant to enlarge its menu just a bit. For those of us who don't eat meat or chicken, there were only three entrees (a pasta, a sea bass and scallops) to choose from--though I will say that our scallops were truly delicious!"

  • "I seldom award 5 stars, but this restaurant rivals DC's best. All four of us had a great meal. Every dish was flawless. This chef could cook anywhere. The only constructive criticism I would offer is to broaden the wine list. We will definitely be back."

  • "The restaurant is very pretty, and the nicest restaurant at the shore. We will go back. However, it felt like they were trying too hard when it came to the good! I did not enjoy the gazpacho at all and although my scallops were delicious, I didn't care for anything else on the plate!"

  • "My wife and I came to Easton for a weekend getaway and went to dinner our first night at the Bartlett Pear Inn based on reviews we read online. This place did not disappoint! The waiter was excellent and his descriptions of the dishes helped us select some really unique choices. Try the sole appetizer with puff pastry, you will not be disappointed! Every part of the meal was wonderful from start to finish - we would have gone back here a second night if not for wanting to try some of the other local restaurants!"

  • "Delicious food, locally sourced, skillfully prepared and beautifully presented. New discovery - pear hard cider - light and refreshing. Waiter patiently described overabundance of new terms on the menu. A memorable experience worthy of a repeat visit."

  • "Every morsel was a treat, from the homemade bread to the delectable lemon dessert. Waiters are knowledgable about the food, where it comes from as well as the wine options. It was expensive but worth it as a special dining experience."

  • "We had the 5 course dinner and the Chef did a terrific job pairing small plates. The service is excellent and the staff is friendly and engaging. Our waiter, Justine timed everything perfectly, provided good suggestions and was very informative of the dishes."

  • "My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience at the Bartlett Pear. The service, cocktails, food, and ambience were well worth the trip from DC. We loved that they try to locally source much of their protein and produce. We particularly loved the butter (from a local dairy) and the house-made bread; we could have made a meal on that alone. Our server was knowledgeable and was very patient in answering our questions about the menu. We'll be back the next time we make a trip to the Eastern Shore. "

  • "If you are in Easton (or just passing through) and you are looking for the best, this is the place you want to go. The chef/owner is thorough in his attention to using local/fresh/organic meats and vegetables. The menu is creative without being odd. The staff is professional and engaging (i.e., they are a joy to talk to, but know when to give you space). The wine list and bar selection are superb (as is the bartender). It somehow pulls off being an "occasion" restaurant while feeling "local". If you consider yourself a "foodie", this is probably the place for you. Hands down the best restaurant I've been to on the Eastern Shore (or the Western Shore for that matter...) "

  • "My party would have been happy if we ate nothing but the home made bread and duck fat fries. Seriously, the best fries I ever ate! They were pricey, as are most things on the menu, but worth it. My foodie friend said his scallops were the best he ever ate. Very lovely place. Very pricey but very good."

  • "My wife and I stayed at the Bartlett Pear Inn with her parents to celebrate their 40th anniversary. We had reservations for dinner and were overcome with the stellar service that accompanied the top-shelf cuisine. Chef Jordan has a meaningful touch in every aspect of his craft. We went with the tasting menu, choosing two appetizers and two entrees. We had the sole, which was substituted for lobster (welcomed, may I add), the octopus garden salad, the striped bass, and the rib-eye. I wish I could say that each course was better than the one before but I'd be dishonest - each course was outstanding and was cherished by the four of us. Service at the Inn was second to none and we couldn't have enjoyed out Easton stay more."

  • "We stayed the night at the Bartlett Pear Inn and made a dinner reservation in their restaurant. From the moment we walked into the Inn, we were met with unbelievable service, friendly and professional staff. The cozy and unique bar in located in a room in the Inn across from the dining area...it is a fabulous spot to have drink. The bartender Justin was perfect...just like our drinks--he is a mixologist and prepares the fresh mixes for all the cocktails--something I would like I would only find in a swanky NYC bar. But to my surprise, this little quaint town of Easton hosts one of the best bartenders on the coast. The chef Jordan, greeted us earlier in the day, is very friendly and just wonderful--the meal was OUTSTANDING!"

  • "Went to the Bartlett Pear for my wife's birthday. I had an 8 pm reservation. Upon arrival at 755 I was told my table was not ready and asked to wait in the bar area. At 830 I was told that my table was still not ready and offered a table by the kitchen door. I said I'd wait....I was finally seated at 845. Now, this is where I really got annoyed. This was their chance to turn it around.... But it was at least 5 minutes before anyone even came over and welcomed us. The service continued to be spotty throughout the night. Great food the service ruined the experience for me."

  • "Three people ordered the "octopus's garden" starter and everyone thought it smelled off to the point of being inedible. Clams had grit in them. Everything was lukewarm. Lamb chops were excellent but portions were small for the price. The steak was good; the scallops were big but coated with something odd and again served lukewarm. Bread was great. Cocktails outstanding. Desserts were also hit or miss; banana's foster was lovely, chocolate tart was dry as dust, ice cream served close to being completely melted. Service was friendly and attentive and water glasses were kept filled. We were celebrating and having fun so we didn't complain about anything but if you are making a special trip based on a magazine review I wouldn't bother. "

The food and service get a standing ovation from us. From athens to london i would compare the chef and staff to worldwide cuisine . Love the locAl food additions"

  • "My husband and I love the Bartlett Pear. Everytime we have the occasion to make a reservation, we come of the experience "always pleased". Everything from the first step through the threshold, to our first & second cocktails, to the appetizers, of course the entree, to literally the cherry on top of the dessert ~ is A+++. I personally hope you have the opportunity to experience your cherry on top!!!"

  • "I brought my parents to the Bartlett Pear Inn when they were visiting from out of town. We all ordered the tasting menu and were pleased with the consistently amazing taste, texture, and artistry of every course. The risotto was a favorite, as was the duck. Both the pre-dinner bread and the post-dinner coffee were equally excellent. I have surely never previously experienced such attentive, yet appropriately restrained service. Our server was knowledgeable not only about the food but also with the history of the restaurant and with the town in general. We also found the food to be a great deal when compared to Washington, DC prices. I will surely be back, hopefully in the not too distant future."
