A word from Barrio - Capitol Hill
Barrio is a restaurant that combines Mexican cuisine with innovative craft cocktails in an energetic urban environment.

Our menu takes a modern approach to Mexican Cuisine, with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients. To deliver the highest possible quality, we make most of our ingredients on-site, from our fresh tomato salsas to our handmade tortillas to our slow-smoked pork.

Dishes include everything from braised pork taquitos and ahi tuna crudo to dungeness crab rellenos and chile-rubbed carne asada.

Our cocktail and spirits program has been recognized as one of the strongest in the Puget Sound. In addition, we offer an excellent selection of beer and an array of wines (both by the glass and bottle).

Diner Reviews
  • "Good food, decent price. Waiter was helpful when prompted but seemed a little uncomfortable making eye contact. Trendy neighborhood, tough to find parking. "

  • "Really great food - we will be back for the steak tartare tacos and pork carnitas. Our server was great, loved it all!"

  • "This was my first time eating lunch at Barrio in Capitol Hill. The food was delicious and the desert as well. I think it is a great place to eat lunch while on Capitol Hill. The entrance door is a little bit difficult to find but other than that, everything was great. The waiter was extra friendly as well and we felt right at home. "

  • "I tried this during restaurant week and was very pleased with the lunch options. I was really glad I was able to try the appetizers and desert. The tacos were great."

  • "I went to Barrio for Restaurant Week but we decided to order from the regular menu. Their regular menu always has great choices; however, the Rest. Menu was a bit "lacking" in comparison. Always a good spot with A+ service."

  • "The restaurant, itself, is very nice. I truly loved the warm tones and light. I'm not a huge fan of the chairs comfort and fact that they are so heavy, but that's the only thing i'm not happy with. The service was good and friendly. But the amazing part, for me, is the food. I'm full blooded Mexican and can say that the taste is incredibly authentic and very delicious. There are some modern fusion elements to the dishes that elevate them further."

  • "This was for a dinner to honor a colleague's success - and she wanted to sit outside. Barrio's front window tables can be outside tables with their giant windows up, and the host made sure we got one of those tables. Of course, since it's Seattle, by the time we were into dinner it was no longer a lovely Spring day. Our waiter not only got those windows closed, he comp'd us dessert for being uncomfortable while they got the key to unlock the windows. Add good food and drink, and you've got a great place."

  • "Was amazing but it took awhile to get both food and drinks while it wasn't overly busy."

  • "Had a surprise Birthday party at Barrio. As always, service, food and drinks were on point. Be sure to check out their brunch, it's also amazing."

  • "It was our first time at Barrio and we will definitely be back! They have a great happy hour, we ordered 8 different food items, had 2 beers and 1 glass of wine and our bill was only $55. But the service was even better than the food. Our waiter James was right on top of everything and very welcoming. He alone would make us return here again."

  • "Bario is quite good, though I think it has slipped slightly in food quality. Still worth going to. Great dishes to try. Awesome ambiance! Love the wall of candles. Make a reservation though, lest you be disappointed!"

  • "I loved this place and the food was done well. It's not your usual Mexican American restaurant where they give you refried beans and tons of cheese. I felt like this was something you'd get in a cute little place in Mexico. Homemade corn tortillas and great salsas. Nothing over done. Felt great walking out and not stuffed to the brim. Highly recommended. Will go back again."

  • "Our table sampled the Chiliquilis and scrambles at Sunday brunch. They were all delicious and reasonably priced. Also had a side of biscuits that were excellent. Decor is very modern and warm. Service was 5 star. My only complaint is the lack of comfort in the chairs. Very friendly and welcoming staff."

  • "I made this reservation for my boss for a big meeting, it went extremely well. Everything was so easy for me from the research of the restaurant to the reservations. My boss was extremely happy by my choice and his meeting went very well.they all loved the atmosphere and he said the food was delicious. Thanks Barrio for making me look so good!!!!"

  • "The service was amazing. Lexi couldn't have been more attentive, and yet she didn't hover. The noise level is always loud so it's better for a group of friends than an intimate dinner. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. I was a bit disappointed by my Carnitas plate because I presumed it'd be a stewed carnitas but it was just crunchy nuggets served in a skillet (not fajita style, just a small individual skillet) which is not what I was expecting. The Taquitos were good, and the Shrimp Enchiladas my partner said were the best she had ever tasted. I really enjoyed the churros but the salted caramels were not great. The caramel was very grainy and crystallized. Overall, a good experience, but I'll only be back with a group for happy hour."

  • "This was my second visit to Barrio since moving to Seattle and it was for brunch. I had the Pork belly Benedict which was fantastic!!! I cannot visit without trying the daily Chilequiles either! Awesome! Barrio has an excellent drink menu also. One of my favorite spots!"

  • "The candles everywhere are a great touch and the decor is industrial chic. The ceviche was very good- fresh, clean flavors; the empanadas were tasty but not that flavorful. The tequila flights are interesting offers. The cocktails are fun. Everything was quite good but not terribly memorable. Enjoyable experience and quite laid back. Loud music, fun moves by the bartenders slamming shakers around and explaining different tequilas and mezcals."

  • "This was my first trip to Barrio in Capitol Hill and surely won't be our last! We celebrated our daughters 27th Birthday. Can't say enough great things about our evening, starting with the overall ambience and comfort of the restaurant. THEN, Amber, our hostess/server and "friend" by the end of the evening, showed up! Amber is an excellent ambassador of the culture of service excellence you likely hope to portray. She walked us thru the food & drink offerings, gave us plenty of time to enjoy all and topped the night off with a birthday Creme Brûlée! Finally, but equally important, the food quality is excellent. See you again!"

  • "The food is quite good here: not really Mexican or Tex-Mex, but more modern and upscale adaptations of Mexican, and well-executed. Chopped salad is particularly well-composed and has a nice dressing. But the noise -- even at brunch, let alone happy hour, they pipe in too-loud music for a base level, and then the place is very hard-surfaces and unforgiving. Perhaps it's best to go in a large group, where you make your own noise to mask the din around you; or else time your visits for those times when you're hungry for the tastes (the food is good enough to make this worthwhile) and you don't need to have any conversation over it."

  • "If breaking the security defenses of a Spanish prison suits you, finding the entrance door at Barrio will be a fun challenge. We, cold and hungry, didn't adequately appreciate the challenge on a dark and rainy night. The enormous overbuild wooden doors signaled a powerful Designer-Consultant influence. Once we broke in we were barraged by unceasing noise with a dreary beat. Fortunately we didn't have to sit at the deafening bar. Assured that we were in the quietest seats in the house and arranged around a table with a thick gauge steel backrest, we huddled close to hear each other. The happy hour margaritas though weak and watery were fine for me and I thoroughly enjoyed the pork enchilada and arugula beet salad."

  • "I went for happy hour. The food was cheap and good for the price. However when I went for dinner I was much more impressed with the quality of the food. Pretty creative, I would go again for sure."

  • "Our table shared numerous apps and mains, as well as the bar's excellent cocktail program. Everything was very good to great. Tip: The "appetizer" full order of chiliquiles is a steal. Beautiful space with the candle divider wall. Good wait staff. Loud, but fun vibe. Paid garage parking just a few doors down. Thumbs up for Barrio!"

  • "My wife and I went for a special occasion and we're treated with impeccable service. We made reservations, which is definitely recommended for weekend dining! We were able to bring our own bottle of wine that I'd been saving for some time, and there was no corkage fee - a big plus for us! The food was amazing, and I can't wait to come back with guests from out of town soon!"

  • "We were in the mood for Mexican food during restaurant week, so we decided to check out this place. It was fantastic, and we are returning this week for another go. It is not generic Mexican food; all of our dishes were original, interesting, and done to perfection. Neither of us were drinkers, but there was a large drink menu and the bar area was huge (and neat-looking). I appreciated that they also put thought into non-alcoholic drinks, with interesting sodas and coffees. The only drawback was that we had to circle a bit to find parking, but it was well worth the effort. This is a must-go restaurant."

  • "Not your typical Mexican restaurant. Its more like what you would find in Oaxaca. Super tasty food and interesting cocktails."
