Difficult to carry on a conversation. Acoustics were terrible. Even though we had reservations for 7:45 PM, we were not seated until 8:13 PM. Manager, however, was very apologetic. Our waiter seemed to focus on the larger tables and not the two of us.

Barret's is a convenient local dining establishment in Hunt Valley. The area desperately needs more local restaurant options like Barret's. The staff is friendly, the food is dependable and the portions are generous (love that entrees come with salad). We really enjoyed the soups - french onion (special) and corn and crab. The meatloaf was a little disappointing, but the seared ahi tuna was enjoyable. I hope they succeed.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2011

Service was by far the best we have had in a while but the food was basic for the price. There was way too much minced garlic in the appetizer and the wedge salads were lacking. We had to ask for more toppings. The special 30 oz. bone-in rib eye was very flavorful but quite pricey. The filet was cooked to specifications and tastey but a bit pricey. We did enjoy our red wine selection and it was fairly priced. Not sure if we will go back.

This used to be a different restaurant. Barrett's has kept the best parts of the menu and added to it. Most of the tables are 'corner' tables providing a feeling of intimacy. Service is well paced, and we had excellent appetizer (tuna grade sushi, seared-- very tender, and delicious), a wonderful rack of lamb, and an excellent prime rib. Desserts were few, and, the Berry Napolean was overpriced. Overall, a very good experience, and one that I highly recommend. Worth the trip, even if you're not going/coming from the movie theater in Hunt Valley.

We have been to Barrett's several times since the transition. This restaurant is very consistent with food quality and service standards. We are very please with all the changes the local owners are making. They have recently added Brunch to their hours of operations on both Saturday and Sunday 10AM to 3PM. We recently learned that local chef Mark Hofmann has been working at Barrett's and putting his stamp on the menu. Keep up the good work, Barrett's is our favorite new restaurant

Our waiter was great. He was very personable, knowledgeable and not too "clingy". Our reservation was honored in a timely manner even though the restaurant was crowded. There was a good selection of wines. The food was just okay. Our only real complaint was they actually started vacuuming right next to our table while we were eating dessert at just 8:45.

Awesome!!!! Went to Barrett's Grill tonight with a friend that said I had to try this new restaurant in Hunt Valley. The food and service was awesome. The restaurant was on a slight wait when we arrived. The manager said it would be a couple of minutes before our table was ready and offered us a drink on the house in the lounge. Nice touch!!! The food and drinks were great. The fresh halibut special was amazing. The crabcakes were all jumbo lump and amazing. Our server Jon was very efficient and professional. I am happy my friend introduced me to this hidden gem Barrett's Grill

I didn't think that the menu looked very interesting, at first; nothing really seemed to jump out at me. The specials seemed more adventurous. I got the crab and artichoke dip, to start and it was very good. I followed with the 6oz. filet and it was quite good; super tasty and cooked perfectly. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the available wines and very helpful. The food came out in good time and we never felt rushed or ignored. All in all, a very good experience.

I have to admit that I was very pleasantly surprised. I had visited the restaurant when it was Greystone Grill and then found it overpriced with mediocre food and marginal service. That was NOT the case with my recent visit under the Barrett's name. The restaurant interior hasn't changed much but WOW! Everything else has. The food was excellent, the staff seemed engaged and it sure seemed like the prices had come down. My filet was as good as Ruth's Chris and the au gratin potatoes were better. My wife had the Sea Bass and could not stop telling me how good it was. Thank goodness there's finally a great place to eat in Hunt Valley.

Another amazingly impressive visit to Barrett's. My husband and I are becoming fast regulars and developing favorites. Every time we dine our server always has impressive wine and appetizer suggestions. The buffalo calamari is GENIUS - kudos to the chef. I have been raving about it for days to my friends. My husband ordered the french dip and I the salmon. We were both blown away more than our first dining experience. I will admit, in comparison to Greystone Grill, we set our expectations pretty low but after our second night at Barrett's we were absolutely blown away. I cannot express how much my husband and I are enjoying our weekly dinners. Every night is memorable and the food never ceases to amaze us. Great job, John.

The restaurant use to be called Greystone Grill. The new owner is a local guy and is very hands on working the restaurant. We can not believe how much better this restaurant is under the new ownership. The staff is friendly and efficient and seems to enjoy working with the new owners. The service was very good throughout our dining experience and would definately return in the near future. The food was very good as well. The fresh fish "Rockfish" was tasty topped with the tomato basil buerre blanc sauce. The crabcakes were all jumbo lump with very little filler. The scallops as a appetizer were amazing. The corn and crab chowder is to die for. We will return in the near future with friends

5 stars all around. I went into Barrett's on a Monday evening with my husband and we were absolutely blown away! The quality of our meals was exceptional, which we were surprised with being the prices were lowered. My husband ordered the meatloaf stack, a delightful change from standard, bland, meatloaf, and I ordered the Ahi Tuna, which was perfect - no other words to describe. The overall feel of the restaurant was warm and our server, Angela, was magnificent. She paid attention to every detail of our dining experience and was very helpful in the decision making process of our meals. The new owner, John Barrett, even stopped by our table and chatted with us - a nice touch! We will definitely become regulars!!!

I liked a fresh feeling of the restaurant interior: not fancy but not in any ways dull. Filet Napoleon (my choice) was just great and Maryland Crab cakes (the choice of my wife) were "better than in that more expensive place I had them last time." The service started by guiding us to the parking lot (the online maps mislead) and was great throughout the entire dinner.

Barrett's is Greystone by a different name, but the owners are not hiding that fact. The crab and corn soup is as incredible as ever, and the buffalo calamari is a fantastic addition to the menu. Everyone at the table enjoyed the mac and cheese side. The wine list has a nice selection from which to choose. I ordered my filet medium rare, and the chef did a decent job of preparing it, however the beef was warm while the side was hot ... a little disappointing, although there was good flavor. Service was friendly. For a quick night out, or as a place to comfortably wait for your teen who's at the movies, I'd go again.
